Another promising multiplayer game for PS5 and PS4 is set to conclude active development within a year, potentially making its trophies unlockable on short notice. Developed by 1047 Games, SplitGate 2 faced early challenges. Its December 2025 revival as Arena Reloaded gave the game new life, but this resurgence was short-lived.
SplitGate 2 will cease development next week on September 3. Similar to the original, dedicated servers and matchmaking services will shut down; however, the game will remain playable through peer-to-peer connections. This allows players to host matches, find games, and play with friends locally.
When the original SplitGate transitioned to peer-to-peer servers, players could no longer unlock trophies. The same might happen with SplitGate 2, so if you still need to unlock a trophy or two, now’s the time to do so.
It appears that 1047 Games plans to step away from live service projects moving forward.
The studio stated, “After ten years of focusing on live service shooters, our focus is changing. What we build next may look very different from what people expect from 1047 Games, but our passion for making games remains unchanged. We’ve learned a lot over the years, and we will carry those lessons into our future projects.”
