Upcoming PS5 Game from Popular PS3 Series Leaked Before Announcement

A new PlayStation 5 game from a popular series has been leaked before the official reveal. Developers at Q-Games announced they will unveil a new project during the Gamescom 2026 event. CEO Dylan Cuthbert also hinted at an upcoming announcement last week.

Q-Games confirmed they will take part in the Future Game Show at Gamescom on August 26, 2026, where they plan to make a “special announcement.” Before this reveal, an X user named Wario64 posted that PixelJunk Monsters 3 was spotted on SteamDB, with an August 24 release date listed.

The SteamDB listing was for a playtest version that is no longer available on the platform. Cuthbert previously teased that they would be “announcing something” soon, leading fans to speculate that the upcoming announcement might be related to the release of PixelJunk Monsters 3.

PixelJunk has a rich history on PlayStation. The franchise started in 2007 with PixelJunk Racers, introducing players to retro arcade-style racing challenges. Over time, the series expanded to the PS3 with titles like PixelJunk Monsters, a tower-defense game where players protect a village from monsters, and PixelJunk Eden, which involved exploring vibrant gardens and collecting seeds.

The franchise shifted gears with PixelJunk Shooter, which added more action-oriented gameplay—rescuing trapped miners in underground environments. Later entries, such as PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate and PixelJunk Monsters 2, came to PS4, and PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe was released for PS5. Throughout its history, PixelJunk has explored various genres while maintaining its classic retro aesthetic.

The buzz is that PixelJunk Monsters 3 might be the game that Q-Games intends to announce, but the developer has not yet confirmed this. Its existence and release schedule are still unconfirmed ahead of the planned Gamescom reveal.
