  • Exclusive PS5 Action RPG’s Big Release Date Reveal

Exclusive PS5 Action RPG’s Big Release Date Reveal

One of the most highly anticipated RPGs of the PS5 generation just announced an updated release timeline that will thrill genre fans. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4, revealed in 2025, now has an early target release window. This upcoming game will follow Ciri as she becomes a monster hunter, continuing the story after the events of 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski shared an update on the game’s progress with fans via social media. The message, posted just before Gamescom 2026, hints at an eventual launch without pinning down a specific date. He revealed that the game is aiming for a 2028 release.

“I know it’s a bit of a wait, and you’d love to play it sooner, but let the team cook,” Nowakowski said.

During the announcement, a teaser pointed to the game’s future arrival, keeping fans eager.

What’s known so far about The Witcher 4? The game will feature Ciri as the main protagonist, tying into the story’s conclusion from the previous installment. She will be voiced by Ciara Berkeley, replacing Jo Wyatt from the last game. Geralt of Rivia will also make an appearance, with Doug Cockle returning to voice him. The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, a shift from CDPR’s traditional REDengine. It will explore new regions of the Continent, such as Kovir and Valdrest. Based on a previous tech demo, CDPR is aiming for 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with ray tracing on the PlayStation 5.

The Witcher 4 isn’t the only project in the works. CD Projekt Red has confirmed it will kick off a new trilogy with this game. Additionally, a remake of the original Witcher is in development at Fool’s Theory. The studio also plans to release The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, a new expansion, in 2027—over a decade after the original game’s debut.

The Witcher 4 is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

  • PlayStation Email Misses the Mark: We Still Don’t Own Our Games

PlayStation Email Misses the Mark: We Still Don’t Own Our Games

Over the weekend, Sony Interactive Entertainment sent out emails to players outlining updated PlayStation terms for its games and services. This communication has only fueled ongoing criticism of the company, especially regarding its decision to phase out physical game production. Players pointed out a specific clause confirming that games are licensed, not owned, which has added to the controversy.

While these terms are standard and similar language is used across all gaming platforms, the timing of Sony’s announcement has intensified the backlash. The message states, “The Software is licensed to you, not sold,” and clarifies that users receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, personal license to use the software solely for private, non-commercial purposes on the intended device.

Further, the terms specify that if an account is lost—due to a ban or other reasons—access to all purchased content will be permanently revoked. This has raised concerns among players, especially given the ongoing shift away from physical copies.

It’s worth noting that such licensing language isn’t new and is common industry-wide, but many fans are upset because Sony is discontinuing physical discs, making digital ownership feel less secure. The company’s choice to send these updates via email over the weekend seems unusual, and only European and UK players, including myself, received the message.

Honestly, I can’t recall exactly when I accepted the latest terms; the email suggests it was “recently,” though I believe I agreed to the new conditions several months ago when I was setting up my PS5.

  • Popular PS5 RPG Gains 60 FPS After Fan Backlash

Popular PS5 RPG Gains 60 FPS After Fan Backlash

After facing significant backlash over the weekend, Rebel Wolves announced that their highly anticipated RPG will now support 60 frames per second on the PS5 and PS5 Pro at launch. The Blood of Dawnwalker, a game developed by some of the minds behind The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, initially generated excitement. However, that enthusiasm was dampened after it was revealed that the game would only run at 30 FPS on consoles.

In a detailed statement on X (formerly Twitter), Rebel Wolves explained that they had been working on a Performance Mode aimed at achieving 60 FPS, but weren’t quite confident enough to commit to it publicly. Nonetheless, the studio’s response to player feedback led to additional testing, and they now feel confident enough to release The Blood of Dawnwalker with the 60 FPS Performance Mode available on both the PS5 and PS5 Pro at launch.

A tweet from Dawnwalker confirmed that the game will feature a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X right from Day 1 via the launch patch. The developers also addressed its performance expectations, stating:

“The Blood of Dawnwalker will receive a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X on Day 1 through the launch patch. On Friday, we answered your questions about console performance with what we knew we could confidently deliver at launch.”
    — Dawnwalker (@DawnwalkerGame), August 24, 2026

When the game launches on September 3, 2026, players can choose from the following modes:

For PS5 and Xbox Series X:

    • Performance Mode: targeting 60 FPS
    • Balanced Mode: targeting 40 FPS
    • Quality Mode: targeting 30 FPS

    For PS5 Pro:

    • Includes all the above modes plus overall visual enhancements

Xbox Series S will be limited to 30 FPS.

Though no bodies are found in the wreckage, Ed insists he was with his wife and daughter that day. Traumatized, he develops severe vertigo and begins therapy, trying to uncover the truth behind that tragic event.

While critics gave Alfred Hitchcock – Vertigo mixed reviews, players have rated it more favorably. On the PlayStation Store, it holds an average rating of 4.23 out of 5 stars. The game is designed for solo play and can be enjoyed offline, but it’s not available through the PS Plus Premium cloud streaming library.

  • Fan-Requested Features Boost 3 PS5 Action Game Remasters

Fan-Requested Features Boost 3 PS5 Action Game Remasters

Three classic PlayStation titles have been remastered for PS5, with fans requesting certain features to enhance their gameplay experience. Aspyr has rolled out a new update for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, incorporating quality-of-life improvements that make Lara Croft’s early adventures more accessible. The collection originally launched on PS5 and other platforms in 2024.

Upon release, Tomb Raider I-III received mostly favorable reviews, though some critics pointed out performance hiccups in the classic graphics mode. At that time, players using Classic Graphics Mode were capped at 30 frames per second. The PC version also experienced uneven frame pacing, and its alternative modern control scheme faced some criticism.

What bugs have been addressed in the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered update?

The latest patch from Aspyr introduces several fixes, including:

    • Brightness Slider: Players can now adjust the brightness across any level in all three games, with optimal performance in HD Graphics Mode.
    • 60 FPS in Classic Graphics Mode: Frame rate has been improved to run at 60 frames per second on consoles.
    • Pickup Highlight: Key items Lara can collect are now more visible, appearing brighter and easier to spot in HD Graphics Mode.

In addition, numerous other updates have been implemented, targeting issues with Challenge Mode, trophies, character models, weapon handling, and visual effects. The update also enhances localization, corrects mission-specific bugs, improves in-game text, and boosts overall stability and performance. Aspyr has confirmed that work is underway on Patch 4.

Looking ahead, the Lara Croft franchise seems promising, with two new AAA titles currently in development for consoles. However, release dates have been pushed back, with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis delayed until next year, and Tomb Raider: Catalyst now scheduled for 2028.

  • Upcoming RPG Won’t Run at 60 FPS on PS5 and PS5 Pro

Upcoming RPG Won’t Run at 60 FPS on PS5 and PS5 Pro

One of the most highly anticipated RPGs set for 2026, developed by former creators of The Witcher 3, will leave console gamers disappointed. Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio, has confirmed that their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, will not feature 60 fps support on the PS5 and PS5 Pro.

A gameplay trailer shared online reveals footage from the console versions and confirms that the game will launch with two graphics modes. The first, Quality Mode, aims for 30 fps with dynamic resolution reaching up to 4K. The second, Performance Mode, targets 40 fps at a similar resolution. To fully enjoy Performance Mode, PS5 owners will need a TV or monitor capable of 120Hz refresh rates.

The PS5 Pro version promises “enhanced visual quality” across both modes. The video showcases gameplay on PS5 Pro, PS5, and Xbox Series X, but does not include footage from the Performance Mode on consoles.

    ### What to Expect from The Blood of Dawnwalker

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an open-world action RPG that will feel familiar to fans of The Witcher series. Players step into the shoes of Coen, a resident of 14th-century Vale Sangora, who becomes a “dawnwalker” — a human-vampire hybrid. The game’s setting is dominated by the tyrannical vampire Brencis and other Vrakhir. The main story revolves around Coen using his vampiric powers to rescue his family, who are being held captive by Brencis.

Like many RPGs, the game features a branching dialogue system that allows players to influence the storyline. It also incorporates a time-management element reminiscent of Persona, where activities take specific amounts of in-game time. Coen has 30 days and nights to accomplish his primary goal, so players will need to prioritize quests carefully.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled to launch on September 3, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

  • Major 2026 PS5 Online Game Losing Support, Trophies Impacted

Major 2026 PS5 Online Game Losing Support, Trophies Impacted

A major online game for PS5 set to release in January 2026 is already starting to lose support, impacting its achievement list. Riot Games’ game inspired by League of Legends, called 2XKO, will cease development in December 2026. Before that happens, however, several updates are planned.

PS5 Fighting Game 2XKO Removing Online Features, Making a Trophy Unlockable

“Over the past few months, we’ve been closely monitoring 2XKO’s performance, and what we’ve observed provides a clear and consistent outlook,” Riot Games stated. “While many players have jumped in to try the game and there’s a vibrant community that plays daily, we haven’t seen enough sustained engagement to ensure long-term viability.”

The game’s servers will remain active for the foreseeable future, extending beyond 2026. However, come September, Riot will remove ranked, casual, and private match options. Removing ranked gameplay will prevent players from earning the Locked In trophy, which will make the Platinum trophy attainable.

“There’s no easy way to handle a decision like this,” Riot continued. “As 2026 approaches, we’ll explore what else we can do for players, tournament organizers, competitors, and creators who have consistently supported the fighting game community through 2X.”

For more details on 2XKO’s plans through 2026, see Riot Games’ full blog post here.

  • Silent Hill PS5 Exclusive Shines in New In-Depth Gameplay Trailer

Silent Hill PS5 Exclusive Shines in New In-Depth Gameplay Trailer

Konami has released a new trailer showcasing several minutes of gameplay for Silent Hill: Townfall. The game is set to launch later this year on PC and PS5. This announcement follows last year’s Silent Hill f, which marked the franchise’s first new installment in over ten years. The series’ resurgence began in 2024 with the remake of Silent Hill 2, leading to a steady stream of new entries each year.

Captured on a PS5 Pro, the gameplay reveals a fresh direction for the franchise. Unlike previous titles, Townfall is played from a first-person perspective. The only other game in the series to feature this view was Silent Hill: The Short Message—a short, free experience released two years ago. Set in Scotland rather than the familiar American town, Townfall approaches the haunting universe from a new locale. This game arrives a few months after the release of the Silent Hill 2 film adaptation, which received mixed reviews.

Below is the gameplay trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall:

What to Expect from Silent Hill: Townfall

In Townfall, players assume the role of Simon Ordell, who wakes up in St. Amelia, Scotland, in 1996. As shown in the gameplay footage, players will need to use a handheld CRTV device to uncover clues about the town and Simon’s backstory. The video depicts Simon exploring the fog-covered streets, which retain the franchise’s signature eerie mist.

Remaining true to the series’ survival-horror roots, Townfall will require players to manage various resources carefully. The gameplay demonstrates Simon using the CRTV to detect and avoid monsters lurking in the town. There’s also melee combat, and players will see Simon entering the “Otherworld,” a distorted, red-glowing version of St. Amelia that exudes an unsettling atmosphere.

Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled for release on September 24, 2026, on PC and PS5. It is developed by Screen Burn Interactive, the team behind stories like Stories Untold and Observation.

Titled S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Cost of Hope, this marks the first significant DLC for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The expansion features two fresh locations, additional weaponry, and arrives alongside the free update 2.0, dubbed “Back to the Zone.”

Developers describe this new content as a “nonlinear expansion,” placing players once again in the shoes of Skif, who finds himself embroiled in a conflict between the factions Duty and Freedom.
