Konami's PS5 Action Collection Gets New Free Update Today

Konami Digital Entertainment has introduced a fresh addition to the PlayStation 5 action game lineup through a free update, now accessible on Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch.

The Super Bomberman Collection now features a new game, Panic Bomber W, which originally launched in 1995. This update brings a competitive puzzle experience with chain reactions, bomb attacks, and strategic play centered around the Big Bomb. Unlike traditional Bomberman tiles, Panic Bomber W offers a unique multiplayer challenge supporting up to four players. The update also restores the nostalgic soundtrack from Panic Bomber W to the Bomb Radio feature, allowing players to enjoy the classic tunes during gameplay and beyond.

The Super Bomberman Collection remains highly rated on the PlayStation Store, boasting an average rating of 4.83 out of 5 stars. It comprises eight titles, including five from the main Super Bomberman series — Super Bomberman 1 through 5, released between 1993 and 1997 — along with the original Bomberman 1 and Bomberman II. The latest addition marks the eighth game in the series.

Each game offers its own campaign starring characters like Mr. Karat, Dr. Mukk, Bomber Quintet, Professor Bugler, Bomber Kings, and Terrorin, where players solve puzzles and combat enemy armies to prevent catastrophe. The collection also upgrades the classic titles with modern features, including the ability to Save and Load at any time, as well as Rewind functionality. Additionally, the Boss Rush mode challenges players to face off against bosses within a time limit.

Panic Bomber W does not include the Boss Rush mode but still offers features like the Bomb Radio and an extensive gallery with over 200 artworks and behind-the-scenes development materials. The collection is available for $19.99 on the PlayStation Store.
