Mastering All Legendary Ships in Black Flag Resynced: Complete Guide

Select Language:

The Legendary Ships are back in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. This version includes four optional naval boss battles where you must sink a formidable ship to earn specific rewards. However, these fights are quite challenging—these enemies are late-game threats that require careful planning, even if your Jackdaw is fully upgraded. Some ships, like the HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign, are especially deadly. If you’re finding them tough, I’ll guide you through how to sink each Legendary Ship in this remake and what you’ll earn after defeating them.

There are four legendary boss battles spread across different parts of the map:

  • El Impoluto (located at 161,804) in the top left corner. It’s a very aggressive ship that rams into you and keeps firing constantly.
  • HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign (at 811,858) in the top right corner. These two ships coordinate attacks and get stronger when one is destroyed.
  • La Dama Negra (at 241,73) down at the bottom left. This slow, heavily armored vessel reduces damage that hits its armor.
  • HMS Prince (at 854,55) in the bottom right. It’s a fast “ghost ship” that cloaks in fog, firing mortars from a distance.

You can trigger these fights anytime while sailing in their area, but be warned—they are very tough battles that will test your skills and your ship’s upgrades to the fullest.

Here’s a quick rundown of which ships are easier to take on:

  1. La Dama Negra — If you can land precise shots on its unarmored parts and have a powerful mortar, it becomes much easier.
  2. HMS Prince — Slightly easier than Impoluto if you time your maneuvers well to avoid its mortar fire.
  3. El Impoluto — Extremely aggressive, requiring high-level armor and smart tactics.
  4. HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign — Fighting both together is very hard, especially since they coordinate their attacks so well.

Remember, tackling these ships is optional. The main reason to do it is for cosmetic items and money: rewards include new ship cosmetics, Reales, and ship models for your manor. No need to fight them in any specific order, but here’s my suggested sequence based on ease:

  • La Dama Negra
  • HMS Prince
  • El Impoluto
  • HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign

To succeed, you’ll need to be mid or late-game, with fully upgraded ships and the best officers. Using special abilities like Deadman’s Mortar and Baldwin’s Perfect Brace can make a big difference.

Now, let’s look at each ship and how to handle them:

El Impoluto
This ship is the most aggressive of the legendary foes. It starts by ramming the player, then becomes even more dangerous as the fight continues. Here’s how to handle it:

  • Avoid ramming it directly; instead, brace or dodge to minimize damage.
  • Stay behind the ship, where it has fewer attack options.
  • Use mortars and mines to punish its predictable ramming attacks.
  • In later phases, it will retreat and bombard with fire; keep your distance, circle around, and shoot mortars from afar.

Defeating El Impoluto rewards you with cosmetic options, Reales, and a ship model.

HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign
These two British ships work together, trying to surround you. Tips for combat:

  • Don’t get caught between them; stay outside their attack lanes.
  • Use your Ram-Dash to get ahead, and chain shots to slow them down.
  • Play with sound cues; they often attack from unseen angles.
  • Focus on both ships equally—their combined power is deadly if one is destroyed early, as it makes the other more aggressive.
  • Both ships drop mines during the fight; shooting these can cause extra damage and clear the waters.

Once both are sunk, you’ll get cosmetic options, Reales, and a ship model.

La Dama Negra
This ship is very tough because of its armor. To damage it:

  • Aim for the weak spot at the back, under the lit windows, and if possible, the top deck with mortar shots.
  • Avoid shooting the sides or front, as they are heavily plated and won’t take damage.
  • Keep your distance and land careful, arcing shots at the rear.
  • Brace for mortar spray attacks and notify your crew to be prepared.
  • During later phases, it fires more frequently and drops barrels, so staying mobile and at range is crucial.

Defeating La Dama Negra unlocks cosmetic parts, Reales, and a ship model.

HMS Prince
This ghostly ship is tricky to fight because it uses fog to stay hidden, moving quickly and dropping barrels to hinder your pursuit. Strategy:

  • Engage in the first phase like a normal ship fight.
  • When it hits about one-third health, it will run into fog, firing mortars and dropping barrels.
  • Use lightning strikes and sound cues to locate it.
  • Maneuver unpredictably to avoid mortar hits.
  • Once it’s close again, it becomes a regular, more powerful enemy.

After sinking the HMS Prince, you get the usual set of rewards: cosmetic options, Reales, and a ship model.

Can you board and capture these legendary ships?
No, you cannot. These ships are designed to sink instantly once their health hits zero. They cannot be boarded or added to your fleet, and there’s no chance to set foot on them. The fight is purely for the reward of victory and loot.

If you want more help with your piracy pursuits — including how to find all the Mayan Stones or solve Treasure Maps — there are plenty of guides available. Happy sailing!
