Zhangxue Machinery Industry, also known as ZXMOTO, made history as the first Chinese motorcycle team to clinch a championship title at the World Superbike Championship. The company is now planning to establish a new manufacturing facility in Chongqing with an annual output capacity of 500,000 units.
Yesterday, ZXMOTO signed an agreement with CMCU Engineering, which will handle the design of the new research and manufacturing complex. The Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology announced this development on WeChat, noting that CMCU Engineering is an affiliate of a state-owned machinery industry corporation.
Founded in April 2024, ZXMOTO quickly gained recognition by winning multiple titles in the World Supersport category at the Portuguese round of the Superbike World Championship held at the end of March. The company continued its success with four additional victories in Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Emilia-Romagna in Italy.
Following its initial victory, ZXMOTO experienced a significant rise in brand visibility within China, coupled with a surge in orders. In April alone, international orders matched the total for the previous year, putting considerable pressure on its production capabilities.
The new facility will be equipped to handle large-scale manufacturing, incorporate intelligent production technologies, and showcase high-end branding. It will be designed to accommodate product updates and innovations over the next decade. The company emphasizes that this factory will be a vital part of its strategic plan to develop a global, high-quality brand.
ZXMOTO offers three models: the 500RR and the 500F, both priced at CNY29,980 (approximately USD4,405), and the 820RR, priced at CNY43,800. Founder Zhang Xue has predicted sales could reach 60,000 units this year, potentially generating around CNY1.8 billion (approximately USD264.7 million) in revenue.
