On August 8th, the 22nd China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference, also known as ChinaJoy, attracted a significant number of international exhibitors to Shanghai, emphasizing China’s leading role as the top global exporter of mobile games.

According to organizers, nearly one-third of the over 740 participating companies are from abroad. This four-day event, one of the most influential in the world for gaming and interactive entertainment, wraps up today.

In addition to its massive user base, China maintained its position as the world’s leading exporter of mobile games in the first half of the year. Israel and Russia followed behind, based on data from the mobile marketing analytics platform AppsFlyer. The report also pointed out a growing market share among the leading companies.

Chinese gaming apps have experienced rapid growth in international downloads over the past decade, although growth has decelerated since 2023. For export destinations, spending on Chinese game advertising heavily favored the United States in the first half of the year, making up over half of the total. The U.S. remains the primary market for China’s mid-to-hardcore gaming titles.

The report also highlights an increasing industry trend toward developing multi-platform games, which is becoming the standard practice.
