The PlayStation 5 version of a recent Xbox open-world game has been quietly pushed back. It was initially expected to release on Sony’s console sometime this year, but that’s no longer the case.

Popular Xbox and PC exclusive, Forza Horizon 6, will not be releasing on PS5 in 2026, according to Tom Warren from The Verge. He shared this update responding to a user on X. Later, IGN also confirmed that the report is accurate.

So far, there hasn’t been any official statement from Xbox regarding the delay of Forza Horizon 6 on PlayStation 5.

In a tweet, Tom Warren stated, “I’m not expecting to see Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 in 2026,” which can be viewed here.

Recent decisions by Xbox suggest that the game’s release timeline might be shifting. While Forza Horizon 6 appears to be postponed beyond 2026, it doesn’t necessarily mean the PlayStation launch is canceled. However, the latest information certainly doesn’t look promising.

The last time Xbox mentioned the PlayStation release of Forza Horizon 6 was back in January of this year. Xbox’s official Twitter account confirmed plans for it to come to PlayStation.

In recent months, Xbox has shifted its approach toward bringing more of its exclusives to PS5. Following Asha Sharma’s appointment as CEO, the company seems focused on prioritizing Xbox consoles and releasing more exclusive titles.

For instance, Gears of War: E-Day was announced as an Xbox exclusive in June. Interestingly, there were rumors that it might have been originally planned for PS5 as well.

The Forza Horizon 6 wishlist page is still active on the PlayStation Store, indicating that the game is still expected to arrive on PS5. However, fans will need to wait longer for its release, as it remains an Xbox and PC exclusive for now.

The game was initially released on May 19, 2026, and has been a major success, selling approximately 6.4 million copies as of June, according to reports.
