In an unexpected development this week, the PS5 is getting a fully revamped and enhanced version of a highly praised PS Vita RPG after 13 years. Muramasa: Revenant Blades is a redesign of Vanillaware’s Muramasa Rebirth, published by Marvelous. The original game was first released on the Nintendo Wii in 2009 under the title Muramasa: The Demon Blade.
Muramasa: Revenant Blades is set to launch in early 2027 with a price of $49.99. A limited edition will also be offered for $89.99, which includes the full game, an art book, a soundtrack CD, and a 10×14-inch folding screen called a byobu.
A trailer is available below:
The game’s description states: “Deep in Japan’s past, a fierce conflict ignites over the legendary and powerful samurai swords created by the renowned Senji Muramasa. These blades bestow incredible strength but also induce madness that can only be calmed with blood. As different factions battle over these mystical weapons, demons and malevolent spirits—drawn to the violence—run rampant across the land.”
Players will discover the stories of six characters whose lives are dramatically altered by these swords.
Muramasa: Revenant Blades will feature a brand-new localization along with English voiceovers and support for 4K resolution.
We’ll keep you updated once the official release date is confirmed. In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
