A pair of iconic action games are rumored to be getting remastered for the PlayStation 5. Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops II, two highly regarded first-person shooters, may soon receive updated versions.
Recently, the PlayStation Game Size Twitter account, known for tracking updates related to the PS Store, posted a simple note about the presence of both Call of Duty titles. At the time, many speculated that both games might be quietly released alongside Nintendo’s recent Direct event. However, after the showcase concluded, curiosity persisted among fans.
Currently, there hasn’t been an official confirmation about these remasters, but signs suggest they are still in the works. While they didn’t appear during the Nintendo Direct, the rumors maintain credibility. Just a week ago, a South Korean gaming ratings board listed both games, suggesting they could be released at some point soon.
Originally launched in 2010 and 2012, Black Ops and Black Ops II were developed by Treyarch and are some of the most celebrated entries in the long-running Call of Duty franchise. Both titles are lauded not just for their multiplayer modes, but also for their compelling campaigns, which follow CIA operative Alex Mason as he tries to recall the location of a Soviet sleeper agent’s numbers station.
