Legendary U.S. record producer Clive Davis has passed away at his Manhattan residence in New York on Monday. The influential industry figure, who played a significant role in elevating numerous iconic record labels, was 94 years old. Recently, Davis had undergone treatment in the hospital for respiratory issues, though the exact cause of his passing has not been confirmed.
Born in Brooklyn in 1932, Davis began his career working in the legal department at CBS. He quickly climbed the corporate ladder, eventually taking charge of Columbia Records by the late 1960s.
Alicia Keys paid tribute, saying, “To Clive Davis, the visionary who turned dreams into reality, leaving a lasting impact on music and lives worldwide.” Meanwhile, Mariah Carey shared a photo of herself with the late producer and wrote, “Rest in peace to the legendary Clive Davis, a titan of the industry and a true champion of great music.”
