As January rolls around, it's time for CES 2025 to kick off. Samsung made a splash by unveiling its lineup for the year, featuring advanced Neo QLED and OLED TVs, audio devices, and other offerings, all set to showcase cutting-edge AI capabilities. While pricing and availability details are still pending, here’s a closer look at what Samsung has in store.

      Vision AI Features

Before diving into the specific television models in Samsung's 2025 collection, it's essential to grasp the company's artificial intelligence focus this year, which will influence their upcoming tech.

This year's initiative is branded "Vision AI." In addition to enhancements to existing AI Upscaling, Auto HDR Remastering, and Adaptive Sound Pro features, Samsung has introduced a new Color Booster Pro function, which utilizes AI to deliver even richer and more vibrant colors.

But Vision AI is not just about enhancing visuals. Samsung has added several new AI-powered features, including:

      • Click to Search: This feature can identify actors in shows, the location settings, and even apparel worn by characters, all through a dedicated AI button on the Samsung SolarCell remote.
      • Live Translate: Using AI, this feature translates closed captions on live broadcasts into seven different languages.
      • AI-based Voice Removal with Audio Subtitles: Samsung’s 2025 TVs will analyze subtitles, separate voices, and adjust reading speed for a smooth viewing experience.
      • Samsung Food: This unique feature identifies food items in the content being watched and provides relevant recipes. It's linked to Samsung's smart refrigerators, which can scan and recognize food, issuing alerts before items expire and helping users acquire missing ingredients.
      • Samsung AI Home Security: This turns your TV into a smart security hub that connects with your security cameras and uses microphones to detect unusual sounds, sending alerts regardless if you're home or away.
      • Generative Wallpaper: This feature creates personalized wallpapers for your TV using AI.

“Samsung envisions TVs as interactive partners, not just devices for passive viewing,” noted SW Yong, president and head of Samsung’s visual display division. “With Vision AI, we’re transforming screens into intelligent companions that blend entertainment and lifestyle solutions for a seamless user experience.”

While 8K TVs may not yet be the first choice for all consumers compared to their 4K counterparts, they continue to represent some of the highest levels of technology available. Samsung's 2025 Neo QLED 8K offerings maintain this tradition.

Samsung has introduced two new models, the QN990F and QN900F, building off the impressive features of last year's models while skipping the previously popular QN800D and QN900D from 2024. These new entries carry over the AI processors from last year's lineup, implementing some key improvements.

One major enhancement across both models is the inclusion of Samsung’s innovative Glare-Free technology, initially launched with the S95D 4K QD-OLED model. This function excels in bright environments by effectively reducing glare from both ambient and direct light, offering a more comfortable viewing experience. Notably, the 2025 iteration is even brighter and will also be introduced in an updated 4K QLED model.

The flagship QN990F will be available in sizes ranging from 65 to 89 inches and is the first Samsung model to incorporate the Wireless One Connect Box, allowing for a cable-free setup. This box uses Wi-Fi 7 and advanced technology to wirelessly transmit 8K content at 120Hz from up to 10 meters away, traversing obstacles like furniture.

Similar to its predecessor, this setup minimizes tangled wiring connecting your devices to the TV, giving users the freedom to place the box anywhere in the room.

The QN990F also features Samsung’s 8K Upscaling technology, which enhances lower-resolution content to near 8K quality, preserving detail and clarity. It includes Color Boost Pro, analyzing each frame for optimized color, paired with AI enhancements. Its audio capabilities include a 6.2.4-channel system with 90 watts and Dolby Atmos support, in addition to 4K gaming at 240Hz VRR capability.

The QN900F, available in sizes of 65, 75, and 85 inches, lacks the Wireless One Connect feature but still utilizes the wired version. It shares many enhancements seen in its counterpart, including 8K upscaling and HDR remastering, coupled with a robust 70-watt, 4.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos sound system and a fresh metal frame design.

Next, we shift focus to the 4K QLED models. Samsung has rolled out three options for 2025: the QN90F, QN80F, and the new entry-level QN70F, aimed at offering an upgrade from the previous Q70D. Each of these models will include the AI features such as Click to Search, Samsung Food, and Live Translate.

The premium QN90F is offered in sizes from 43 to 98 inches, with a new colossal 115-inch option designed for those with ample space and budget. This model benefits from a feature called Supersize Picture Enhancer, which optimizes image quality for larger displays to eliminate blurriness.

Additionally, the QN90F incorporates the upgraded Glare-Free technology and boasts the latest NQ4 AI processor, which empowers its enhanced AI 4K Upscaling and overall picture quality. It also includes a 60-watt, 4.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos sound system.

The QN80F, available in sizes of 50 to 100 inches, showcases strong specs, although it remains unclear if it received the NQ4 AI Gen3 processor upgrade. It features a 30-watt, 4.0-channel Dolby Atmos-based sound system.

Lastly, the newcomer QN70F, offered in 55 to 85-inch models, comes equipped with a NQ4 AI Gen2 processor and a refreshed design, as well as a 20-watt, 2-channel sound system.

Samsung is introducing three new OLED models for 2025: the flagship S95F, along with the S90F and the S85F. All these models will benefit from the enhancements tied to Vision AI.

The S95F, representing the successor to the earlier successful S95D with unique anti-glare technology, stands out as the brightest OLED to date. Enhanced with the latest NQ4 AI Gen4 processor, it promises improvements in contrast, brightness, and depth of color. It will be available in sizes ranging from 55 to 83 inches and is designed to support Dolby Atmos with a 70-watt sound system.

Details regarding the other OLED models are still limited, but the S90F will feature the same NQ4 AI Gen3 processor, supporting sizes from 42 to 83 inches with a 40-watt 2.1-channel Dolby Atmos sound system.

The S85F will come in sizes of 55, 65, 75, and 83 inches, equipped with a 20-watt 2-channel sound system.

Enhancing its popular lineup of Frame Art TVs, Samsung unveiled the Frame Pro, which features a Neo QLED panel, and utilizes the NQ4 Gen3 processor. It also benefits from the Wireless One Connect Box, enabling more flexible installations. The launch also marks an expansion of the Samsung Art Store, which now hosts over 3,000 artworks through partnerships with prominent institutions like MoMA. The Frame TVs hold Pantone’s ArtfulColor validation for color accuracy, while the Frame Pro supports a refreshing 144Hz refresh rate, catering to both film lovers and gamers alike.

      2025 Samsung Audio Lineup

      John Higgins / Digital Trends

Beyond TVs, Samsung has unveiled several new soundbar models this year. The HW-Q990F stands out as the flagship, a powerful 11.1.4-channel system that comes with a compact subwoofer half the size of its predecessor, the HW-Q990D.

The HW-QS700F offers versatility as it can be mounted on a wall or placed on furniture. Similar to the HW-Q990F, it features Q-Symphony Pro, which enables collaboration with select Samsung TVs for a captivating audio experience. It analyzes audio through the TV’s AI processor for enhanced surround sound, and includes Active Voice Amplifier Pro for better dialogue clarity.

Additionally, Samsung will integrate Q-Symphony Pro into two new budget-friendly soundbars, the HW-B750F and HW-B650F.

      Last updated just now

In addition to its remarkable 500Hz OLED, Samsung is showcasing two other intriguing monitors at CES 2025. The star of the show is a 37-inch 4K display, a size I’ve yet to come across despite exploring a multitude of gaming monitors.

This may not seem significant at first glance, but when you consider gaming monitors larger than 32 inches, its uniqueness becomes apparent. Most conventional 16:9 displays cap out at 32 inches. Beyond that, you typically find screens that jump to 40 or 42 inches—often TV panels that have been repurposed for gaming use, like my KTC G42P5.

Samsung is offering a middle ground here. While larger models exist, most fall within the 21:9 aspect ratio. Now, gamers can find a viable option when a 32-inch display feels inadequate, but a full-size television is unnecessary.

The second monitor from Samsung offers a somewhat different experience. The Odyssey G7 features a 21:9 aspect ratio and boasts an impressive 5K resolution. This model is akin to LG’s recently unveiled 5K2K display, albeit without an OLED panel.

With a 5,120 x 2,160 resolution and a 40-inch size, the Odyssey G7 achieves a sharp pixel density of 139 pixels per inch. This is notably higher than the typical 100 pixels per inch that most monitors aim for. While it doesn’t quite match the pixel density of the Asus ROG PG27UCDM, it comes close.

Beyond its exceptional pixel density, the Odyssey G7 features a rapid 180Hz refresh rate and a swift 1ms gray-to-gray response time, as per Samsung’s specifications. Additionally, it holds VESA’s DisplayHDR 600 certification and supports Samsung’s HDR10+ Gaming standard, which utilizes dynamic metadata for enhanced HDR gaming experiences.

As is customary with Samsung’s announcements at CES, details surrounding pricing and availability remain undisclosed. The company has a history of releasing new monitors more slowly compared to more enthusiast-oriented brands such as MSI and Asus, so it’s likely that these models will debut sometime mid-year. But that’s merely speculation for now.

    • Samsung And Apple Race To Slim Phones Without Sticker Shock

Samsung And Apple Race To Slim Phones Without Sticker Shock

In recent months, various sources have highlighted the efforts of Samsung and Apple to develop thinner smartphones. While one might assume this shift might lead to increased prices, it appears that these sleek devices won’t come with a hefty price tag.

For Apple, the proposed iPhone 17 Air is set to take the place of the iPhone “Plus” model, which reportedly experienced disappointing sales. To address this gap, Apple plans to introduce the Air model this year, aiming to maintain the current pricing strategy without any major adjustments.

As noted by an industry insider to Sisa Journal, “The Plus model struggled with its identity, leading to poorer sales. By transitioning to a slim model, they can adopt a pricing strategy similar to that of the Plus.”

Meanwhile, Samsung reportedly intends to follow Apple’s lead. The company is gearing up to introduce the Galaxy S25 Slim, specifically designed to compete with Apple’s Air model. According to the report, it suggests that this device will not be priced too high.

While there are still many uncertainties surrounding the pricing of the Galaxy S25 Slim, sources from a Korean outlet indicate that it will be cheaper than the flagship Ultra model.

If these rumors prove accurate, we could see the iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim priced around $900. Both models are expected to launch in the second half of 2025, although Samsung could potentially beat Apple to the market by several weeks.

Reports suggest that Samsung’s sleek device will feature a 6.7-inch display, with its thickness potentially ranging from 6mm to 6.9mm. It may also surprise users with an impressive camera setup (200MP main + 50MP ultra-wide + 50MP zoom), though details about the processor remain unclear.

As for the iPhone 17 Air, it seems it won’t offer significant hardware advancements apart from its slimmer design. Speculations point towards a single rear camera, a smaller battery, and a frame made of titanium-aluminum.

Apple is expected to introduce a new battery design that encapsulates the cell inside a metal shell, utilizing a method called electrically induced adhesive debonding to facilitate easier repairs and replacements.

    • No Major Upgrades Expected for Samsung’s Next Foldables

No Major Upgrades Expected for Samsung’s Next Foldables

It appears that Samsung is taking its time in reevaluating its approach to foldable devices. This, however, means allowing rival Chinese brands to take the lead in innovative developments.

An interview with one of Samsung’s manufacturing partners has indicated that the upcoming line of foldable smartphones from the company may not feature significant upgrades. Enthusiasts might have to hold off until the 2026 model to witness any major enhancements.

According to a representative from China’s FastPrint speaking with the Korean news source The Elec, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 series is unlikely to see meaningful improvements, with important updates likely being saved for the 2026 Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. FastPrint has a solid background in the smartphone sector, which adds weight to this information.

This company recently provided the vital HDI (High-Density Interconnector) for the sleek Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. This model is thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6 but boasts a larger display and upgrades its camera system to a 200-megapixel sensor.

      Andy Boxall / Digital Trends

FastPrint has also received Samsung’s approval to deliver the same component for the forthcoming Galaxy S25 series smartphones. While this recent information from Samsung’s partner is not entirely unexpected, it’s worth noting that plans at the Korean tech giant could evolve in the future.

“If we focus solely on the foldable phone format from Samsung Electronics, we can expect noticeable changes starting with the Z8 series scheduled for release in 2026, in contrast to the Galaxy Z7 series next year,” stated the FastPrint executive.

The spokesperson also mentioned that Samsung aims to tackle competition from Chinese foldable phones, as well as prepare for Apple’s eventual entry into this market. Despite these ambitions, the internal momentum for innovation appears to have slowed.

Fold 7 should have the same display sizes as Fold 6 SE. So, Fold 6 SE will basically become the Fold 7.
Flip 7 should grow from 6.7” to 6.85” and cover display should be around 4”.

      — Ross Young (@DSCCRoss) December 2, 2024

Supply chain analyst Ross Young recently shared insights on X, indicating that the design of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will influence the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, the overall aesthetics and camera technology are expected to remain largely unchanged without significant advancements.

In contrast, competitors like Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi have consistently pushed the boundaries of foldable phone technology, offering slimmer designs and more impressive camera setups.

It will be fascinating to see how Samsung remains competitive in this rapidly evolving landscape, especially while commanding a premium price for foldable devices that no longer stand out as the best options in the market. Unfortunately, I am skeptical about any swift revitalization on Samsung’s part.

    • Samsung’s $60 Fitbit Rival Now Available in the U.S.

Samsung’s $60 Fitbit Rival Now Available in the U.S.

The new year is off to a fast start, with Samsung introducing two mobile devices to the U.S. market. After launching in other regions last October, the Galaxy Fit 3 and Galaxy A16 5G are now confirmed to be available stateside.

Let’s begin with the Galaxy Fit 3, my top pick among the two. As the follow-up to 2022’s Galaxy Fit 2, this compact and budget-friendly fitness tracker is comparable to the Fitbit Charge 6 or Fitbit Inspire 3. It features a 1.6-inch AMOLED display, which is 45% larger than its predecessor, and promises an impressive battery life of up to 13 days. The body is constructed from aluminum with a sleek matte finish and offers 5ATM/IP68 water resistance.

What health and fitness features does it offer? Samsung highlights that the Galaxy Fit 3 is capable of tracking over 100 different types of workouts. It automatically detects activities like walking, running, and swimming, and can also monitor workouts on elliptical and rowing machines. Sleep tracking includes detailed sleep cycles, snore detection, and blood oxygen level monitoring — a feature that isn’t even available on the Apple Watch Series 9 in the U.S. All health data can be easily synced with the Samsung Health app.

Graphic showcasing various design elements of the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3.

The Galaxy Fit 3 also incorporates smartwatch-like features, such as media controls for music and podcasts on your phone, support for notifications, and lightweight apps/widgets for checking the weather and calendar. Additionally, its safety features include fall detection and an Emergency SOS function, activated by pressing the side button five times.

The cherry on top? You can snag all of this for just $60.

Alongside the Galaxy Fit 3, Samsung has announced that the Galaxy A16 5G smartphone is now available in the U.S. This device boasts impressive specifications, including a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 800 nits. The camera setup features a 50-megapixel primary lens, a 5MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 13MP front-facing camera. The device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1330 processor and comes with a robust 5,000mAh battery.

Promotional image for the Samsung Galaxy A16.
      Samsung Galaxy A16 5G Samsung

One standout feature of the Galaxy A16 5G is its software longevity. Samsung commits to providing six years of Android OS updates and security patches, an exceptional pledge for a device starting at just $200.

Both the Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy Fit 3 will be available for purchase from Samsung’s official website, retail outlets, and carriers starting January 9. Additionally, purchasing the Galaxy A16 5G comes with a 50% discount on the Galaxy Fit 3, reducing its price to an astounding $30.

We look forward to putting both the A16 5G and Fit 3 through their paces in real-world scenarios. Based on their specifications and features at such affordable price points, Samsung may have two attractive offerings on their hands.

    • Samsung Galaxy S22 Bootlooping Problem Is Common

Samsung Galaxy S22 Bootlooping Problem Is Common

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series has garnered praise, but many users have experienced frustrating bootloop issues for over a year. If you find yourself in this situation, rest assured — you’re not the only one, and Samsung is looking into potential solutions. A quick look at the r/SamsungGalaxy subreddit reveals numerous threads discussing bootloops associated with the One UI 6.1 beta update, as well as other complaints from well over a year ago. This is clearly a widespread problem.

The main solution for this issue involves sending your device back to Samsung for a motherboard replacement, which isn’t free since the S22 series is typically out of warranty. However, one Reddit user, u/HenryTan, reported that Samsung may cover the repair costs. It might depend on your individual case, but u/HenryTan proposes that reaching out to the Samsung CEO via email could expedite the process. They also hinted that being a Samsung Care member might have impacted the decision.

Several recent posts on the r/GalaxyS22 subreddit express discontent following the release of One UI 6.1, highlighting an ongoing trend with this problem that has persisted for many months.

In addition to seeking official repairs, some users have resorted to unconventional methods. It’s important to note that any non-traditional solutions are not backed by experts. They may only provide a temporary fix and could inadvertently cause further damage to your phone.

A close-up image of dual Chrome apps open on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra held in a hand.
Tushar Mehta/Digital Trends / Digital Trends

User u/Pleasant-Apartment84 shared an unusual trick: placing their Galaxy S22 in the freezer for 20 minutes reportedly resolved the bootloop issue temporarily. However, the phone began to loop again once it heated up. Given that Samsung is handling motherboard replacements, this freezer method seems a bit peculiar, especially since it could affect the battery adversely. Fortunately, this temporary fix allowed u/Pleasant-Apartment84 to back up their data, although the device later presented an additional green line on the screen.

The root cause of the bootloop remains unclear, and Samsung has yet to publicly acknowledge the problem or the unconventional workaround suggested by some users. If your device is caught in a bootloop, it’s wise to consult a professional for help. While the freezer method might save you some money, it also poses the risk of further damage.

    • Samsung Galaxy S25 Could Get Life-Saving Crash Safety Feature

Samsung Galaxy S25 Could Get Life-Saving Crash Safety Feature

Your smartphone comes packed with numerous features that you appreciate but hope you never actually have to use. For instance, tools designed to help locate a lost device. Among these are safety functionalities, and Samsung has been lagging behind in the realm of crash detection compared to Pixel and iPhone models. However, recent leaks indicate that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra might incorporate a car crash detection system.

This concept isn’t entirely new. Samsung has attempted to integrate crash detection into earlier models, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 5, which have the necessary sensors but lack the software to make them operational. Documentation found by Android Authority hints at the addition of a crash detection sensor; however, this doesn’t guarantee that it will be functional.

Even in devices that possess the requisite hardware, the sensors remain unutilized. The coding necessary to activate these functions has been included in One UI builds extending back to version 5.1.1, yet no method exists to enable the feature or bring it to fruition.

      Andy Boxall / Digital Trends

The inclusion of this sensor does not confirm that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will use it, although it suggests the feature could be available at launch or shortly thereafter. It’s possible that the development is not yet complete, or there may be other factors at play before it becomes available. With any luck, this feature will be rolled out soon. The car crash detection on the iPhone has already shown its effectiveness, and the addition of something similar would certainly enhance road safety.

    • Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Might Skip Key Tracking Feature

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Might Skip Key Tracking Feature

This year, Android introduced a much-anticipated feature for object tracking: the ability to locate devices even when their battery is depleted. This functionality is part of the broader Find My Device system. Unfortunately, it seems that Samsung’s upcoming flagship model will not support this feature.

According to a code analysis by Android Authority, the phone may lack an active Bluetooth-finding protocol. As a result, it won’t show up on tracking maps once the battery dies. It’s essential to remember that these insights are based on pre-launch specifications for unreleased devices, meaning changes could occur before the official launch.

The feature itself, named “Find Your Offline Devices,” utilizes Bluetooth and the location data from nearby Android devices. This is somewhat similar to Apple’s Find My network, which connects millions of devices globally, helping users recover misplaced gadgets.

Google has not disclosed specifics about how location tracking works for devices that have gone offline due to battery depletion, other than mentioning “specialized Pixel hardware” on their store listings. This feature is enabled by default for new Google hardware, including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series.

Essentially, it uses the network signals from nearby devices to offer location data on the Find My Device network. To activate this feature on your device, navigate through the following:

Settings > Google > All Services > Find My Device > Find your offline devices

Users can choose a tracking range from two options: With network in high-traffic areas only or With network in all areas. According to Google’s support page, devices that have run out of battery can still be tracked for “several hours.”

“When others detect your items, they securely send their locations to Find My Device,” the company explains. As for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, it is reportedly set to include a second-generation protective shield from Corning Gorilla Glass Armor.

The design has been slightly modified, featuring rounder corners and new color options. As for internal specifications, changes seem minimal aside from the typical annual updates.

The camera setup will likely remain familiar, including a 200-megapixel main sensor. The device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, but there are no significant upgrades in charging speed or battery capacity based on leaked information.

    • More Signs Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Will Be Delayed

More Signs Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Will Be Delayed

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in January is anticipated to showcase the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series, though it appears the S25 Slim will not be included in this launch. Recent leaks hinted at all four models making a debut; however, new information aligns with the theory that the S25 Slim will instead be released in the second quarter of the year.

To recap, the Galaxy S25 Slim was identified by its model number, SM-S937, an essential marker as it indicates where this model fits within the lineup. The latest One UI 7 beta revealed a list of specific models tailored to various carriers, stating U.S. variants as SM-S931, SM-S936, and SM-S938—corresponding to the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Notably absent is any mention of the S25 Slim.

The lack of a defined model number suggests that the S25 Slim will not be part of the initial launch alongside the other Galaxy S25 models. This reinforces previous leaks supporting this narrative. Samsung’s typical strategy appears to dictate a mid-year release, likely around June, reminiscent of the pattern seen with the Galaxy Ring, which was first announced in January but only became available in June.

It’s reasonable to expect Samsung to implement a similar approach for the Galaxy Ring 2, which may also be revealed during the Galaxy Unpacked event.

If we analyze the model numbers further, it’s clear the S25 Slim positions itself between the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra. Expectations suggest it will be more powerful than the Plus variant, albeit not matching the Ultra’s capabilities. However, there are rumors indicating that it might even be equipped with a superior camera system compared to the base Galaxy S25 models.

While Samsung has not yet officially acknowledged the Galaxy S25 Slim, its introduction seems imminent next month. For now, any details regarding the Slim should be approached with caution until confirmed by the company.

    • Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Leaks And I’m So Tired

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Leaks And I’m So Tired

The next Unpacked event is on the horizon, and as expected, numerous secrets about Samsung’s upcoming smartphone lineup have been leaked ahead of time. While relying solely on leaks can be a bit risky, a recent unintentional upload from a well-known accessory brand adds another layer of credibility.

Dbrand, a company renowned for its bold stance, has published numerous renders showcasing the Galaxy S25 series, each one adorned with a range of skins that appeal to fans.

As anticipated, the overall design of the Galaxy S25 and its Plus variant feels all too familiar. In fact, the two models appear nearly indistinguishable from each other, echoing their predecessors in the Galaxy S24 and S23 series—as well as a plethora of Galaxy A and M series devices.

The only notable change appears in the Ultra model, which now features slightly rounded corners instead of its signature sharp angles. While this redesign isn’t as pronounced as Apple’s approach to rounded edges on its iPhone, iPad, and Mac models, the Galaxy S25 Ultra still distinguishes itself in some ways.

However, the lens design of the camera, the aesthetics of the display, and the arrangement of ports and buttons leave much to be desired. The introduction of fresh rear glass colors could help, but the potential for new features, such as magnetically assisted Qi 2 wireless charging, remains uncertain based on conflicting leaks.

Among the rumored new colors is a dusty blue shade, as stated by leaker IceUniverse. If this turns out to be accurate, it could make a significant impression on the Galaxy S25 series.

      Bring it on, Samsung

There’s a lot to say regarding Samsung’s conservative design strategy. While I try to be fair, the opinions among Samsung enthusiasts can be quite strong. Discussions on Reddit often highlight that at least Samsung isn’t imitating competitors like many other brands do. Others argue that not everyone has the budget for flagship phones, which adds to the debate.

Yet, some users crave a distinct design that doesn’t make their high-dollar device resemble a budget-friendly smartphone. One Reddit user expressed, “I can’t speak for others, but I desire a unique and aesthetically pleasing phone, not just a powerful glass rectangle, especially at flagship pricing.”

While I lean toward the latter perspective, I also feel strongly that a flagship device should reflect its premium status rather than simply offering slightly upgraded materials. Sure, one could argue that using a protective case will obscure the beautiful design of any phone, but I believe this misses the point of investing in an upscale Galaxy S series device. Those who prioritize performance may be satisfied with models like the Red Magic 10 Pro, with its exceptional capabilities and battery life.

Alternatively, those who focus specifically on camera quality could opt for a Google Pixel Pro or an iPhone. Buyers of Samsung’s flagship phones generally appreciate the strengths while understanding their weaknesses.

This phone costs significantly less than a Galaxy Ultra device, yet it offers higher performance and a stunning design. Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends

Ultimately, the expectation is that a flagship phone should provide the delight of holding a beautifully engineered device. I hope Samsung introduces some intriguing color options and does not restrict exciting designs to online only, as has often been the case in recent years.

Of course, wishing for change alone won’t affect the reality, especially since production on these phones has already begun. Nonetheless, if the recent Dbrand assets are indicative, I would definitely prefer a two-tone Galaxy S25 series over yet another repetitive design of glass and metal.

Samsung, you’ve done it before—surprise us again.

    • First Look At Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 Coming Soon

First Look At Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 Coming Soon

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is just around the corner, slated for January 22, and it promises to reveal key information about the Galaxy S25 series. However, a recent report hints that attendees might be treated to unexpected announcements, including the anticipated Galaxy Ring 2.

The Galaxy Ring 2 has been a subject of speculation for some time now, with previous leaks providing insights into its specifications. A new report from DigiTimes, a Taiwanese news source, suggests that Samsung is likely to unveil the device during the Galaxy Unpacked event, similar to how it introduced the original Galaxy Ring earlier this year.

Details regarding its expected performance remain vague. Nonetheless, the report emphasizes an improvement in battery life that could exceed seven days, along with enhanced AI capabilities and additional health sensors. However, it’s important to note that battery longevity may vary depending on the size of the Galaxy Ring.

The report also indicates that the Galaxy Ring will be offered in two new sizes, bringing the total to eleven, in a bid to rival the sizing options provided by Oura.

In addition to the Galaxy Ring 2, Samsung may reveal its much-discussed augmented reality smart glasses. Specifics about these glasses have been scarce, but they are expected to resemble typical eyewear and weigh approximately 50 grams—about the same as a household sponge.

It’s important to keep in mind that not all of the products announced at Galaxy Unpacked will be immediately available for purchase. Just as the original Galaxy Ring was unveiled during the January event but didn’t hit the market until summer, the same timeline might apply to the Galaxy Ring 2 and the AR smart glasses. With such limited information about the smart glasses, their release could still be quite a ways off.

As always, it’s wise to approach these rumors with a pinch of skepticism. Despite credible sources, rumors remain speculative until confirmed. Definitive details will only surface during the event.

    • Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Has Major Display Problems Here’s Why

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Has Major Display Problems Here’s Why

For those who have the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, there’s some disappointing news to share. Multiple users are reporting that the oleophobic coating on their device’s screen is deteriorating. This coating is meant to repel oils and smudges, but instead, it is making displays appear dirty, greasy, and in certain cases, even scratched, significantly impacting overall user satisfaction.

As highlighted by Android Authority, complaints have mainly emerged from social media, particularly on X, raising alarm among users. For instance, Rajan Thakur mentioned the appearance of a persistent glass polish mark on their device, while Plyush Baid questioned the effectiveness of screen protectors if they compromise the anti-reflective coating.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra showcases a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Launched in January alongside its counterparts, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus, this issue seems to be exclusive to the Ultra version, as users of the other models haven’t reported similar problems. This raises concerns regarding the manufacturing techniques or materials used specifically for the Ultra.

      Piyush Baid

While it remains unclear if this issue is widespread, it is concerning given the phone’s relatively new release. At this time, Samsung has not publicly addressed the problem, leaving many users in a state of uncertainty.

Users who have reached out to Samsung have been instructed to compile detailed reports regarding their specific issues, including purchase details, device information, and images of the affected screens. This input appears vital for Samsung to assess the situation and determine future actions.

The root cause of the problem is still uncertain, with speculation pointing towards a potential issue in a specific production batch or lapses in quality control measures. Many hope that Samsung will offer clarification soon.

Looking ahead, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S25 series within the next month, which will include the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
