If you’re trying to update your laptop’s BIOS from version F.17 to F.19 but run into issues, here’s a straightforward way to troubleshoot and get the update done successfully.

First, make sure you download the correct BIOS update file from your device’s support website. Use your device’s serial number to find the right version, and ensure the file you download is the correct .exe file for your model.

Since the update process requires a Windows environment, you’ll need a separate PC that runs Windows 11. On that PC, open the BIOS update utility, and choose the option to create a recovery USB. Select your 2GB USB drive, format it if prompted, and let the utility copy the necessary files to the drive.

Next, insert the USB into your laptop. To start the BIOS update, press and hold the Windows key + B, then press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds. Keep holding the keys until you see the BIOS update screen. This may take some time, so be patient.

If you see an error message stating that the update files could not be found or are corrupted, don’t worry. The flashing LED on your USB drive flashing beforehand suggests the files might have transferred correctly. Sometimes, factors like secure boot settings or firmware differences can interfere with the process.

Since you’re running Linux and have secure boot disabled, those are usually not issues. Also, take note of the setup utility that appears—whether it shows the AMI logo or not. Sometimes, after extracting the update files, the utility restarts with a slightly different screen or no logo. If that happens, try cancelling and re-launching the update.

If these steps still don’t work, you might consider formatting the USB drive again and re-copying the BIOS files, ensuring it’s correctly prepared. You could also consult your laptop’s support page for specific BIOS update instructions or reach out to customer support for additional guidance.

Remember, patience is key in these updates. Taking your time and following each step carefully can help ensure a smooth BIOS upgrade and keep your device functioning properly.
