If you want to prioritize notifications from certain apps on your Apple device, it’s a straightforward process that helps you stay focused on what matters most. Here’s a simple guide to teach you how to set notification priorities so you only get alerts that are important to you.
First, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. Scroll down and tap on Notifications. You’ll see a list of all your apps here.
Next, select the app for which you want to set the notification priority. For example, if you want your messages to come through clearly, tap on Messages. Inside the app’s notification settings, you can customize how notifications appear.
Look for the Alerts options and decide where you want notifications to show—for example, on the Lock Screen, Notification Center, or as banners. You can toggle these options on or off according to your preference.
To make sure the most important notifications stand out, tap on Sounds and Badges to turn them on for specific apps. This way, even without looking at your phone, you’ll realize from the sound or badge count if something urgent is waiting.
If you want to give certain notifications a higher priority, consider enabling Emergency Alerts or Critical Alerts for specific apps, especially for safety-related notifications. This ensures these alerts come through even if your device is in silent mode.
Also, you can set your notifications to appear in a specific order by customizing Notification Style. For example, you might choose Persistent banners for very important alerts so they don’t disappear until you dismiss them.
Finally, to manage alerts efficiently, use Focus Modes. You can activate a focus mode (like Work or Personal) and choose which apps are allowed to send notifications during those times. This helps you stay focused and reduces distractions.
By customizing your notification settings carefully, you take control of your device’s alerts. It ensures you receive the most important updates without being overwhelmed by less relevant notifications. Remember, a little setup goes a long way in making your device work better for your daily routine.
