If you’re experiencing disconnection problems with your AWS WorkSpaces, here’s a simple guide to help you troubleshoot and fix the issue.
First, determine whether the disconnection happens during active use or only after being idle. If the system disconnects after periods of inactivity, it might be due to an idle timeout setting. However, if it disconnects even when you’re actively working, the issue is likely caused by something else.
Next, check whether your problem occurs when printing to network printers. It’s recommended to set up printers directly within the WorkSpace environment instead of redirecting them from your local machine. Switching to this configuration can often resolve printing-related disconnection issues.
Then, see if you’re using the “Advanced Printer Redirection” feature offered by AWS. This feature uses a different method from the default driver setup. If you’re not currently using it, testing this option could help resolve your disconnection problem.
Finally, try reinstalling the agent on your WorkSpace. To do this, connect via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), uninstall “WSP” if you’re using the DCV protocol, restart your WorkSpace from the console, wait about 15 minutes, then perform a test print. Reinstalling the agent has resolved similar issues for other users and might do the same for you.
Following these steps should help identify the cause of your disconnections and guide you toward a solution.
