Sony Interactive Entertainment has released the latest PS5 system software update, version 26.04-13.42.00, just in time for July 2026. Like previous updates, this one mainly focuses on improving system performance and stability, with no major features or new functionalities included. Users should expect to download approximately 1 GB of data on their PS5 or PS5 Pro consoles.
The official patch notes simply state, “We’ve improved system software performance and stability,” which typically indicates minor enhancements and security updates that Sony prefers not to highlight in detail.
Unfortunately, this update does not address the ongoing issue with the Recently Played section, which has been malfunctioning for over two weeks. As previously reported, many players are experiencing that the section remains stuck and fails to record recently played or downloaded games, some of which date back to a month ago.
While there are no significant changes to note at this time, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
