A recently canceled PlayStation 4 game is offering refunds to fans. Although the game was launched last year, it won’t be available on older consoles.
Dying Light: The Beast won’t be on PS4, but refunds are available
Techland announced via social media that Dying Light: The Beast will not be released on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. This upcoming survival horror game, set in the Dying Light universe and scheduled for 2025, was initially announced for last-generation consoles. However, due to the game’s demanding features, older hardware simply can’t support it.
Despite the cancellation on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, players who were excited to try the game can still request refunds. The details on the refund process aren’t fully clear, but it’s suggested that players might need to visit their respective digital stores—such as PlayStation or Xbox—to initiate the refund.
“We understand many of you were eager to play on PS4 or Xbox One, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment this causes. Anyone expecting to play on either platform will be eligible for a refund,” the statement confirms.
Techland explained that hardware limitations prevented the game from being compatible with older consoles. Instead, Dying Light: The Beast will continue to be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision that Dying Light: The Beast will no longer be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was built from the ground up to take full advantage of current-generation hardware. Its open world, …” — Dying Light (@DyingLightGame), July 14, 2026
