Ian (iDubbbz) confirmed during a live stream that Ethan Klein has filed a defamation lawsuit against him, but he intends to contest it. He stated, “It’s official. Ethan Klein has taken me to court in Calgary, Alberta, for defamation. I plan to fight this, but for now, it’s in the hands of the legal system and our lawyers.” Klein explained that he had Canadian lawyers approach iDubbbz because of a joke implying that Klein molests his children.
The conflict originated when streamer Destiny allegedly made a remark during a stream, suggesting that “Ethan from H3H3 is probably a pedophile who has harmed his own children.”
About a month later, iDubbbz, in a CGI dragon form during a stream, highlighted a comment from his alter ego: “This appears to be something someone might want to address. As a woke dragon, I don’t like this Destiny character, but I also dislike the pedo troll character,”
Later, he retracted his comment, saying, “One thing that made me realize I needed to take a step back was the whole Destiny thing involving Ethan and his children. I went too far with this one.” He added, “I apologize to Ethan and his family for that nasty Destiny comment. I thought it was justified based on my point, but spreading gross stuff like that is wrong.”
Ethan Klein responded, “I brought in some reputable Canadian defamation lawyers who sent a letter to Anisa and Ian demanding a retraction and stopping the defamatory allegations about me harming my children.” About a month afterward, Klein officially filed a defamation suit against iDubbbz.
iDubbbz, expressing some concern, said, “I’m worried about what this means for the commentary community, especially the Canadian one. For now, I’ll just say I’m sorry this stream was so brief.”
