Air India Captain’s Drug Test Shows Marijuana: Source

The captain of an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi, which unexpectedly lost about 300 feet of altitude last week, has tested positive for marijuana in a follow-up drug test, according to an informed source. Earlier today, India’s Civil Aviation Ministry summoned Air India CEO Campbell Wilson regarding the incident, involving an Airbus A320neo aircraft, as another source revealed. Neither Air India nor the ministry responded to requests for comment. Wilson stated in interviews that the airline provided an update to the ministry about the ongoing investigation.

The summons came shortly after Indian authorities launched an inquiry into the event, which resulted in injuries to 13 passengers and four crew members. The flight, carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members, experienced a brief altitude change over Odisha, an eastern Indian state. The plane landed safely in Delhi without further incident.

On Sunday, officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed that the pilot’s initial screening for psychoactive substances indicated the need for confirmatory lab testing. Air India claimed it had not yet been informed of the results.

Digital Phablet – Özge Törer Eyes Television Return with Karakuyu

Turkish actress Özge Törer is preparing for a comeback to television in a leading role, according to reports from Turkish entertainment media. She is in the final stages of negotiations to star in “Karakuyu,” a new drama produced by OGM Pictures for Kanal D. Once finalized, she will be the star of one of the most anticipated new series slated for the upcoming TV season.

Produced by Onur Güvenatam, whose company has been responsible for many of Turkey’s hit dramas in recent years, “Karakuyu” is currently in active pre-production. The project has attracted significant attention within the industry as casting and location planning continue to develop.

Initially, the production team considered filming in Divriği, a historic area in Sivas famed for its unique architecture and scenic landscapes. However, logistical issues related to transportation have prompted producers to consider Tokat as an alternative primary filming location. Final decisions on the shooting base are expected before production officially kicks off.

If negotiations go as planned, Özge Törer will portray Prosecutor Ferda, the series’ protagonist. Ferda is depicted as a resolute prosecutor whose unwavering dedication to justice, integrity, and honor places her at the narrative’s core. The storyline will follow her battles against powerful interests while managing personal and professional obstacles in her quest for the truth.

Directed by Nezaket Coşkun, one of Turkey’s most seasoned TV directors, the series promises a character-driven approach that fuses emotional depth with compelling visual storytelling. Coşkun’s previous work includes several successful dramas.

Törer gained widespread acclaim playing Bala Hatun in the historical series “Kuruluş Osman,” earning recognition both domestically and internationally. Her compelling performance has established her as one of Turkey’s rising TV stars. Her potential involvement in “Karakuyu” is already one of the most watched casting updates of the season.

Although OGM Pictures has not officially announced the full cast, sources indicate that preparations are on track, with final contracts and technical plans underway. Additional cast announcements are expected in the coming weeks as filming approaches.

With Özge Törer close to finalizing her role, “Karakuyu” is shaping up to be one of Kanal D’s flagship dramas. The series combines legal drama elements with themes of justice, resilience, and honor, sparking considerable excitement among viewers eager for more details on cast, scheduling, and premiere dates.

  • German doctor dubbed ‘Serial Killer’ gets life for 15 murders

German doctor dubbed ‘Serial Killer’ gets life for 15 murders

A German palliative care doctor received a life sentence on Wednesday for murdering 15 patients with lethal doses of sedatives, while authorities continue investigating dozens more possible victims. The 41-year-old was convicted in Berlin for killing 12 women and three men during home visits from September 2021 to July 2024. However, presiding judge Sylvia Busch indicated that the crimes for which he was convicted may only represent a fraction of his total offenses.

Prosecutors revealed that he is suspected of having murdered over 70 additional individuals. Court records identify him only as Johannes M., as he remains partially unnamed in the legal documents. Busch described him as a “serial killer” amidst an “unfathomable” and “extraordinary” case. Recognizing the severity of his crimes, the court sentenced him to the maximum penalty, making it extremely unlikely for him to ever be released. He was also permanently barred from practicing medicine.

The court determined that his murders were driven by a desire for power rather than compassion or misguided beliefs about assisted dying. Prosecutors characterized him as having “a lust for murder,” asserting the motivation was purely for the act itself. The victims, all under his care at the time, ranged in age from 25 to 94. The court found that he intentionally administered anesthetics and muscle relaxants that paralyzed respiratory muscles, resulting in respiratory arrest and death within minutes. In at least five cases, he reportedly set fires in victims’ apartments to conceal his crimes.

Johannes M. admitted in court on Monday that he had “killed people” and expressed remorse, saying, “I despair at myself.” He further stated that he is only now beginning to grasp the full extent of the suffering he caused, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

On one notable day, he killed two patients. On July 8, 2024, he murdered a 75-year-old man at his home in Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighborhood, followed by the killing of a 76-year-old woman in nearby Neukoelln hours later. The attempt to burn the crime scenes failed because the fires did not catch. Suspicions about Johannes M.’s activities emerged from care services, prompting an investigation that led to his arrest in August 2024. Initially, four cases were scrutinized, but the number of suspicious deaths continued to grow as the investigation expanded.

This case is reminiscent of the story of Niels Högel, a German nurse sentenced to life in 2019 for murdering 85 patients. Another similar case involved a palliative care nurse who was sentenced to life in November for killing 10 patients and attempting to murder 27 others with lethal injections.

Although Netflix and TMC Film have yet to release the full cast list or announce an official premiere date, casting for key remaining roles is expected to proceed in the upcoming weeks. Industry sources indicate that production preparations are advancing, and additional updates are anticipated before filming commences.

For Yazıcıoğlu, Aras signifies another important milestone in his career, which has steadily grown over the past decade. Ethan Klein of H3H3 Sues iDubbbz for Defamation

Ian (iDubbbz) confirmed during a live stream that Ethan Klein has filed a defamation lawsuit against him, but he intends to contest it. He stated, “It’s official. Ethan Klein has taken me to court in Calgary, Alberta, for defamation. I plan to fight this, but for now, it’s in the hands of the legal system and our lawyers.” Klein explained that he had Canadian lawyers approach iDubbbz because of a joke implying that Klein molests his children.

The conflict originated when streamer Destiny allegedly made a remark during a stream, suggesting that “Ethan from H3H3 is probably a pedophile who has harmed his own children.”

About a month later, iDubbbz, in a CGI dragon form during a stream, highlighted a comment from his alter ego: “This appears to be something someone might want to address. As a woke dragon, I don’t like this Destiny character, but I also dislike the pedo troll character,”

Later, he retracted his comment, saying, “One thing that made me realize I needed to take a step back was the whole Destiny thing involving Ethan and his children. I went too far with this one.” He added, “I apologize to Ethan and his family for that nasty Destiny comment. I thought it was justified based on my point, but spreading gross stuff like that is wrong.”

Ethan Klein responded, “I brought in some reputable Canadian defamation lawyers who sent a letter to Anisa and Ian demanding a retraction and stopping the defamatory allegations about me harming my children.” About a month afterward, Klein officially filed a defamation suit against iDubbbz.

iDubbbz, expressing some concern, said, “I’m worried about what this means for the commentary community, especially the Canadian one. For now, I’ll just say I’m sorry this stream was so brief.”

This new series has officially brought together Kubilay Aka and Hafsanur Sancaktutan in the leading roles, making it one of the most discussed projects in Turkish entertainment circles this week.

The initial casting reveal announced Kubilay Aka as the male lead. Soon after, behind-the-scenes reports confirmed that Hafsanur Sancaktutan was cast as the female lead following a competitive audition process. According to Turkish media sources, Sancaktutan secured the role after competing against four other candidates during auditions.

The announcement drew significant attention because Aka and Sancaktutan are also among Turkey’s most popular young celebrities today. Their relationship has often made headlines in tabloids over the past year.

Rumors of their romance first surfaced after they were seen together multiple times around Istanbul. Though initially silent, both actors later confirmed their relationship through social media and public appearances, fueling fan interest due to their chemistry and playful interactions online.

However, their relationship has faced turbulent times. Reports previously suggested that the couple temporarily parted ways due to busy filming schedules and personal disagreements. Fans closely followed months of rumors, cryptic posts, and social media unfollowing. Despite these speculations, they eventually reunited, with Turkish media describing their reconciliation as one of the year’s most talked-about celebrity stories.

Now, this real-life couple will make their first joint appearance on screen in a leading television role.

Produced for ATV, “Mercan Köşk” will be filmed in Tarsus, one of Mersin’s most historically rich and visually stunning districts. Her desperate quest for answers leads her back to Tarsus, the city linked to her deepest trauma—her father’s murder.

Aras is depicted as a powerful figure hiding dangerous secrets to safeguard his family. As tensions escalate between two rival families, an intense emotional bond gradually develops between Cemre and Aras.

Turkish media characterize the series as a dark family drama packed with secrets, revenge, forbidden love, and psychological conflicts. Much of the plot unfolds within the grandeur of Mercan Köşk, where long-buried truths threaten both families.

This project also marks an important comeback for Kubilay Aka following his recent military service. Fans are already praising his new image and are especially eager to see his on-screen chemistry with Hafsanur Sancaktutan, now that they are officially starring together.

Meanwhile, Hafsanur Sancaktutan continues to strengthen her position as one of Turkey’s fastest-rising young actresses. Following impressive roles in “Ya Çok Seversen” and “Kıskanmak,” many entertainment experts believe “Mercan Köşk” could represent another significant milestone in her career.

With a compelling storyline, a celebrity couple at the helm, and the atmospheric scenery of Tarsus, “Mercan Köşk” is rapidly becoming one of the most anticipated Turkish dramas of the season.

Syrian Drama Mourns Director Mazen Lotfi, Radio Pioneer Turned TV Star

Digital Phablet – The Arab world commemorates Mazen Lotfi, a pioneer who shaped radio drama.

Syrian radio actor and director Mazen Lotfi passed away early Friday morning at the age of 85, leaving behind more than fifty years of work in radio and television drama. His extensive body of work has become a fundamental part of the collective memory for audiences in Syria and across the Arab region.

The Syrian Artists Syndicate announced his passing on its official Facebook page, mourning the “esteemed artist Mazen Lotfi” and offering heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and fans.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Lotfi was a prominent figure in the field of radio drama within the country. The archives of Syrian Radio contain roughly 16,000 hours of his dramatic productions, setting a record in Arab radio directing history.

Born in Damascus in 1941, Lotfi initially pursued a career in theater, participating in minor roles in private folk theater before joining the drama department of Syrian Radio in 1972. After completing training in Syria and abroad, he transitioned into radio directing, developing his own unique style that left a lasting mark.

He directed and produced numerous radio dramas and was involved in over 50 television series. Throughout his career, Lotfi earned several Arab accolades, including the Gold Award at the Tunis Festival for his series “Sanabel Al-Adab” (Ears of Literature) and the Golden Creativity Award at the Cairo Arab Media Festival for works such as “Muftaraq Al-Matar” (The Crossroads of Rain), “Dhawahir Mudhisha” (Amazing Phenomena), and “Sawt Fi Al-Dhakira” (A Voice in Memory).

Joining the Artists Syndicate in 1973, Lotfi built strong relationships with many notable figures in Syrian and Arab arts. Testimonies from colleagues highlight his dedication to documenting the stories of pioneering artists, not only through collaborative efforts but also with original works that preserve their legacies.

Among these efforts was a radio drama series in which artist Abdel Latif Fathi narrated Lotfi’s life and artistic journey using his voice. Additionally, he authored and directed the program “A Voice in Memory,” which aimed to revive the legacy of the deceased artists—serving as a renewed homage to icons who should never be forgotten.

While known for his behind-the-scenes work, Lotfi also appeared on screen. He acted in several privately produced films like “Ghazlan,” “Abu Antar Bond,” and “Habibi Majnoun Jiddan” before gradually becoming a familiar face in Syrian and Arab television dramas over the years.

His notable TV appearances include “The Deceased’s Will,” “Warm Roots,” “Tarabish,” “Abu Antar’s Diaries,” parts of the series “Mirrors,” “Dunya,” “The Madhouse,” “The Lady’s Husband,” “Bab Al-Hara,” “Gibran Khalil Gibran,” “Qamar Bani Hashim,” “Naji Attallah’s Squad,” and “A Moment of Silence.”

His final role was in the series “Struggle of the Hills,” which finished filming but has not yet aired, marking the end of a career that spanned over five decades between the microphone and the camera.

With his passing, Syrian drama loses one of its understated pillars—a dedicated worker who tirelessly contributed to radio and television, leaving behind a legacy imbued with thousands of hours of programming and countless iconic characters that resonated with audiences.

The repercussions of his influence are evident in the archives, where thousands of hours of his radio work remain preserved, offering valuable insight into the evolution of radio drama in Syria and beyond over fifty years.

As condolences pour in via social media from peers and students alike, the Syrian arts community bids farewell to a director and actor whose quiet yet profound contributions engraved an auditory and aesthetic memory in the minds of many, particularly symbolizing the childhood dreams of generations past and present.

Notable among her series are “Awlad Adam” (Sons of Adam), the “Lil Mawt” (For Death) trilogy, “Ala Amal” (Hopeful), and “Bil Dam” (With Blood). The story unveils in a world where power, money, desire, and sin collide, following a diverse cast of characters whose secrets and intertwined relationships gradually come to light as the plot progresses.

The series explores deep-rooted psychological and moral conflicts among its characters, weaving intriguing narratives filled with twists that highlight current societal crises and the severe tests individuals face in their battle between right and wrong.

Maguy Bou Ghosn portrays “Joud,” collaborating with an accomplished cast of Lebanese talents including Tony Issa (Maher), Sarah Abi Kanaan (Zeina), Elsa Zgheib (Sarah), Takla Chamoun (Sabah), Bassem Moughnieh (Farid), Wissam Sabbagh, Cynthia Karam (Alia), Nadia Charbel (Nai), Elie Mitri (Ryan), Tarek Tamim (Tanios), Magdi Machmouchi, Randa Kaadi (Najwa), Carole Abboud (Hadeel), and Ammar Chalak (Malik).

The cast and crew have fueled the anticipation, with Bou Ghosn sharing a cryptic statement upon the trailer’s release: “A mirror doesn’t reveal the truth… it exposes it!” The show is set to premiere during Ramadan 2026.

The streaming platform MBC Shahid has joined the hype, promising that the series “will surpass all expectations,” utilizing teasers like “This smile conceals a thousand pains…” and “What secrets are the stars of ‘Bil Haram’ hiding from us?” to stir curiosity. The most intense secrets, however, remain hidden behind the curtain.

The posters for the series, inspired by the theatrical world, sparked widespread interest thanks to their mysterious circus-themed visuals. In an exclusive interview with ET Bil Arabi, Bou Ghosn clarified that despite the alarming title, “Bil Haram” is a family-centered story that tackles provocative issues within a thoroughly researched humanistic framework. She explained that the circus holds symbolic significance, as life itself is like a circus—an endless tightrope walk where everyone risks falling or injuring themselves and others.

Elie Khater, the concept’s creator, compared the series to a circus, depicting society with each performer fulfilling their role amidst constant danger, mimicking societal pressures and prejudices. He also noted that the recurring clown character, appearing in various guises, symbolizes the protagonists’ internal contradictions.

Costume designer George Saqim revealed that the promotional images and opening scene were styled in a Victorian vintage circus aesthetic, with a carefully curated color palette that defines each character’s unique personality within a cohesive visual narrative.

The series features Ammar Chalak as Malik, a lawyer whose intertwining journey connects many characters through a complex web of relationships. Bassem Moughnieh prefers to keep Farid’s character enigmatic, describing him as full of contradictions. Randa Kaadi plays Margaret (also known as Margot), portraying her as unpredictable, shifting between good and evil. Takla Chamoun features as Sabah, a powerful figure leveraging her influence to uncover truths, emphasizing that everyone harbors a “dark secret.”

Amid its artistic symbolism, dark humor, and ambiguity, “Bil Haram” is poised to be one of the most highly anticipated Ramadan dramas of 2026. It offers a thought-provoking societal commentary that encourages dialogue and leaves the final judgment to the audience, blending human depth with suspense in a compelling narrative.

Eagle Films has officially secured Lebanese singer Wael Kfoury to perform the series’ theme song, which will be broadcast on MBC Shahid and MTV Lebanon.

Wael Kfoury’s collaboration marks his return to television series theme music after a break. Fans eagerly await the song, “Shu Nater” (What Are You Waiting For), currently in production. The song is part of a collaboration involving some of the top names in Arab music: poet Ali Mawla penned its lyrics, Salah Kurdi composed the melody, and Taim arranged the arrangement.

This combination of talent promises a memorable soundtrack to complement the series, heightening anticipation for its flagship release during Ramadan 2026.
