A recent outage of Google’s AI product, Gemini, did not affect Google Search or its generative features like AI Mode and AI Overviews. Gemini, which supports some aspects of Google Search, experienced several disruptions throughout the day.
Rajan Patel, Vice President of Engineering for Search at Digital Phablet, confirmed that the outages did not impact the performance of Google Search, including AI Mode and AI Overviews. Josh Woodward from Google also shared on X that Gemini was experiencing an outage and that the team was actively working to restore service, with some fixes already implemented and others in progress.
When asked whether this disruption affected AI Overviews and AI Mode, Patel responded with a clear “No.” The confirmation ensures that the main search functions remained unaffected during the Gemini outage.
