China is set to fast-track the growth of emerging industries such as next-generation information technology, renewable energy, robotics, and biomedicine. The aim is to develop several of these sectors into core pillars to drive new sources of economic momentum, according to the country’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
This strategy emphasizes expanding these innovative industries and bolstering their contribution to China’s industrial landscape. Leadership officials highlighted at a recent press briefing that efforts will concentrate on critical areas and address vulnerabilities within supply chains, employing strong measures to attain significant breakthroughs in essential technologies. These include integrated circuits, industrial machinery, high-precision instruments, foundational and industrial software, advanced materials, and biomanufacturing.
The plan also involves establishing flagship projects within targeted sectors such as next-generation information technology, green energy, advanced materials, smart connected electric vehicles, robotics, biomedicine, high-end manufacturing equipment, and aerospace.
Furthermore, the initiative will push forward major technological advancements and foundational industry reconstruction efforts, supporting the large-scale demonstration and adoption of new technologies, products, and industrial scenarios. Special emphasis will be placed on accelerating the integration of technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence, robotics, industrial internet, and the BeiDou satellite navigation system into various industries.
The policy also promotes testing, validation, and iterative improvements of innovations in real-world settings to speed up commercialization and widespread deployment.
