E-commerce giant JD.com has introduced robot maintenance services across Europe and established JoyRobocare centers in several countries in response to the increasing international sales of Chinese-made robots.
The company announced on June 27 that it has established robot repair facilities in Bedford, United Kingdom, and Duisburg, Germany. It has also launched “robot ambulance” services in major cities throughout the UK, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
These robot maintenance services are expected to gradually expand further into more European countries, as well as into markets across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East.
JoyRobocare centers focus on humanoid and quadruped robots in Europe, with their applications increasingly extending to homes, education, commercial sectors, industrial manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and security. The “robot ambulance” offers a variety of after-sales services, such as on-site delivery, equipment setup, maintenance, repairs, and recycling.
By providing localized “robot ambulance” and repair center services, Chinese robots exported to Europe can have most issues addressed without the need for returns to China. This approach is expected to notably cut down on maintenance and after-sales costs for local businesses and consumers.
The comprehensive robot repair services include basic fixes, fault diagnosis, battery replacement and recharging, testing and certification, cosmetic repairs, and equipment recycling. The company has forged strong partnerships with many leading Chinese robotics firms, including EngineAI Robotics Technology, Noetix Robotics Beijing Technology, Deep Robotics Technology, and AgiBot.
During a humanoid robot half-marathon event in Beijing earlier this year, the “robot ambulance” provided a wide range of repair services to over 300 participants.
