During the G7 summit in France, hosted by President Emmanuel Macron, US President Donald Trump made it clear who he believed was in charge. As he entered the final day’s morning session, Trump confidently declared, “I’m the boss,” just before taking his seat amid the other leaders already present. Macron responded with a smile and asked, “How are you?” to which Trump replied, “Good, thank you,” reflecting his signature style.
Trump, a former TV show host known for “The Apprentice” and its catchphrase “You’re fired,” has been the center of attention at the three-day summit in the spa town of Evian on Lake Geneva. His recent success in securing an agreement to end tensions with Iran and celebrating his 80th birthday have kept him in the spotlight.
Unlike the previous G7 gathering in Canada, where he left early, Trump stayed for the entire event and agreed to the summit’s communique, pleasing French officials. Macron has even extended an invitation to Trump for dinner at Versailles after the summit concludes, though it will be a modest affair, with Macron clarifying it won’t be a “gala” dinner.
