  • Top 10 PS5 Game Soundtracks of 2025: Game of the Year Edition

Top 10 PS5 Game Soundtracks of 2025: Game of the Year Edition

Section about the year’s top game soundtracks:

End-of-year wrap-up articles are always a highlight. Reflecting on the past 12 months offers a chance to revisit some incredible moments and experiences that might have slipped your mind over time.

Nowhere is this more evident than in gaming music. With countless soundtracks and games, it’s challenging to experience every noteworthy tune. But don’t worry—we’ve got you covered.

While it’s impossible to list every remarkable soundtrack, we’ve curated a list of what we believe are the 10 best PlayStation game soundtracks of 2025. Let’s dive in—either to listen or to explore.

    10. Lumines Arise
Enhance Games consistently excels in crafting exceptional music. With striking art and meticulous detail, Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s projects are always a sensory delight. The revival of Lumines is no exception, resembling what Tetris Effect did for Tetris. Hydelic and Takako Ishida have created a divine soundtrack that elevates the experience effortlessly.

    9. Ball X Pit
This game’s addictive roguelite city-builder gameplay might distract you from noticing its fantastic soundtrack. Amos Roddy delivers a lively, energetic score that balances fun and seriousness, perfectly mirroring the game’s quirky mechanics. Its unique combination of high-energy tracks and softer, introspective moments offers a surprisingly rich musical experience.

    8. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Gordy Haab’s mastery with Lucasfilm shines again here. For fans of the franchise, his score complements the films flawlessly, reminiscent of John Williams’s iconic compositions. Troy Baker’s portrayal of Indy captures the spirit of the character, and the soundtrack reinforces that vibe beautifully.

    7. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
This highly anticipated sequel expands on its predecessor’s grandeur, including its music. Composers Jan Volta and Adam Sporka craft a richly orchestral score that vividly evokes 1400s Bohemia. While some pieces hint at danger, others are playful and upbeat, capturing the era’s essence.

    6. Dispatch
Who says episodic gaming is done? Developed by ex-Telltale staff, Dispatch is a fresh take on superhero adventures with a soundtrack that defies expectations. Instead of traditional heroic themes, Andrew Arcadi and Skyler Barto offer a synth-infused, industrial mix. Expect surprises ranging from yacht rock to piano ballads and even ambient horror—a captivating musical journey.

    5. Hollow Knight: Silksong
After a long wait, the sequel to Hollow Knight arrives, and with it, a massive, enchanting soundtrack. Christopher Larkin returns, delivering melodies that are lush and gothic, nearly doubling the length of the original. The music continues to set a mesmerizing tone, fueling the adventure.

    4. Ghost of Yōtei
This follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima captures a unique sound. While the first game featured expansive percussion and woodwinds, Yōtei shifts toward a lone-ranger vibe, utilizing regional instruments with a Western cowboy influence. The result is a compelling, atmospheric soundtrack that truly stands out.

    3. Sword of the Sea
Austin Wintory’s score for Sword of the Sea, developed with Giant Squid, demonstrates versatility. Unlike the aquatic Abzu or the action-packed The Pathless, this game’s soundtrack leans into electronic textures blended with Wintory’s signature piano and strings. The music’s breathtaking beauty and memorable motifs enrich the gameplay experience.

    2. Silent Hill F
New Silent Hill music is always a treat. Building on Akira Yamaoka’s legendary score for Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill F offers an intriguing evolution. Featuring compositions from Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage, the soundtrack explores fresh textures and sounds. With a different locale, the haunting ambient energy remains, but the musical voice shifts into new territory, making it distinctly unique within the franchise.

    1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
No surprise here—Clair Obscur leads the list. Developed by France’s Sandfall Interactive, this RPG has garnered praise throughout 2025 and boasts an extraordinary soundtrack. With masterful use of strings, accordions, and the captivating vocals of Alice Duport-Percier, the music demands attention at every turn. The extensive eight-hour score from Lorien Testard offers a journey that’s both immersive and unforgettable.

    Honorable Mentions:
Despelote, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, DOOM: The Dark Ages, POOLS, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Blue Prince.

  • Top Locations for Completing and Solving Music Albums in Arc Raiders

The new Flickering Flames event is now live in Arc Raiders. Players can experience the Cold Snap event, complete a new project, and even have fun throwing snowballs at each other! Similar to the Expedition, you’ll need to gather various materials to donate. Many of these items are things you didn’t think much about before, but now they’re important.

One key item you’ll need is the Music Album. To finish the final step of the Flickering Flames project, you’ll need to collect two of these. Here’s where to find them so you don’t waste time wandering aimlessly.

    Where to Find Music Albums

Look for Music Albums in places that have either Residential or Commercial materials. This narrows your search to specific spots across the five maps. The best locations are:

    • Village on The Blue Gate
    • Departure Building at the Spaceport
    • Plaza Rosa or Grandiosa Apartments in Buried City

Of these, the Village on The Blue Gate is the best place to find any kind of Residential or Commercial items. It has many buildings with multiple apartments inside. Check lockers, dressers, cabinets, or suitcases—these often contain trinket-like materials needed for the project.

Spaceport also has good spots for Commercial loot. The Departure Building is particularly useful because it’s spread across several floors with offices and many desks to loot. The Arrival Building is similar and also worth exploring.

Buried City is probably the most consistent place for trinkets. Almost the entire southern part of the map is filled with Residential and Commercial sites. The Grandiosa Apartments and Plaza Rosa are obvious choices, especially the pharmacy on the second floor of Plaza Rosa, which has numerous dressers.

Many players overlook the second floor of the Hospital. There’s a room on the northern end with lots of lockers. While the Hospital mainly has medical supplies, these lockers often contain trinkets like the Music Album, making it a prime spot.

Try to find the Albums during Night Raids or the Cold Snap event if possible. These events increase the chances of finding rare items, so you’re more likely to collect multiple Albums in one run. Remember to bring an Augment and store the Albums in your Safe Pocket to ensure they stay safe for donation.

Will Sherine Abdel Wahab Attend the Grand Egyptian Museum Opening?

Rumors spread on social media suggesting that Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab will participate in the grand opening of the Egyptian Museum on November 1st. The reports caused mixed reactions; some supporters saw her presence at the museum’s opening concert as a perfect opportunity for her to make a comeback and rebuild her confidence.

Inside the museum, visuals shared on social media showed the impressive interior, fueling excitement among fans. Conversely, a segment of her followers expressed skepticsm about her ability to perform at her best, citing the personal struggles she faced recently, including mental health challenges during her marriage and divorce with Egyptian star Hussam Habib.

Nevertheless, reliable sources informed Erem News that these rumors are unfounded. They confirmed that Sherine Abdel Wahab’s name was not on the guest list for the event. The official preparations for the opening event are actively underway, scheduled from November 1st to 3rd, with the museum opening to the public on November 4th.

  • Bleeding Verse: AI Band With 800K Monthly Spotify Listeners

Bleeding Verse: AI Band With 800K Monthly Spotify Listeners

Digital Phablet – Artificial intelligence is now encroaching on the space of human musicians as well. An AI-created band named ‘Bleeding Verse’ quickly gained attention on social media after it was revealed that this artificial group has accumulated over 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with some of their tracks reaching millions of plays.

According to its official Spotify profile, Bleeding Verse “designs alt-metal anthems for the emotionally vulnerable” by incorporating “haunting vocals, immersive soundscapes, and lyrics drawn from the quietest corners of the soul.” The band’s description clarifies that while the lyrics are penned by people, the music itself is generated by AI. Furthermore, a review of their discography shows that Bleeding Verse has been releasing an extensive amount of AI-produced music, including a full-length album, several EPs, and singles, making it nearly impossible for human artists to compete.

Bleeding Verse: This AI band boasts over 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify

    Twitter Embed

In just two months, the AI-assisted band ‘Bleeding Verse’ has surpassed some of their major influences on Spotify, reaching approximately 897,000 monthly listeners. The Welsh post-hardcore band Holding Absence expressed their feelings about this achievement, stating, “It’s disheartening, it’s insulting – most importantly – it’s a wake-up call,” in response to the rise of Bleeding Verse.

Lead vocalist Lucas Woodland recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) his disappointment, writing, “So, an AI band modeled after us, citing us as an influence, has just overtaken us on Spotify in just TWO months.”

He added, “It’s shocking, it’s disheartening, it’s insulting – most importantly, it’s a wake-up call. Oppose AI music, or bands like us will cease to exist.” His post quickly garnered over two million views and a wave of supportive comments. Additionally, another user on X compiled a Spotify playlist featuring AI-generated bands, intended as a resource for music fans who wish to boycott artificial music.

Many smaller bands, such as Dayseeker and Holding Absence, already face tough economic challenges, including limited revenue from streaming platforms like Spotify. To sustain themselves, many are compelled to tour frequently, which can lead to burnout and exhaustion.

This growing concern has led advocates and dedicated listeners to encourage the support of genuine bands by purchasing their music and merchandise through platforms like Bandcamp.

As AI technology continues to evolve and become more widespread, counterfeit bands like Bleeding Verse are expected to proliferate. Unless the support and listenership for human artists decline, these AI acts will likely keep gaining ground, challenging the future of traditional music creation.

  • Rihanna Releases ‘Mohamed Salah, The Egyptian King of Liverpool’—What to Know

Rihanna Releases ‘Mohamed Salah, The Egyptian King of Liverpool’—What to Know

Digital Phablet – Egypt and Liverpool captain Mohamed Salah and international artist Rihanna have surged to the top of the trending search charts in recent hours after a video allegedly showing Rihanna singing a special song for the football star went viral.

In the purported song, titled “Mohamed Salah, The Egyptian King of Liverpool,” the American singer refers to Salah as the “Pharaoh” and labels him “the King of the Nile.”

Media outlets state that the clip is not an official release by Rihanna, nor is it from her verified channels on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Music. Additionally, it is not connected to Egyptian football legend Mohamed Salah.

So far, Rihanna or her representatives have not made any formal statements regarding the video, confirming that the song circulating online is not authentic but created using artificial intelligence tools.

Despite its unofficial nature, the song has received widespread praise for its lyrics, which celebrate Mohamed Salah’s journey from Cairo to his achievements with Liverpool, portraying him as a regal figure—the “King of the Nile.”

  • How to Find the Vaultkeeper’s Melody and Solve in Hollow Knight: Silksong

How to Find the Vaultkeeper’s Melody and Solve in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Music plays a major role in Hollow Knight: Silksong. To progress and make it to the top of the Citadel, you need to obtain the Vaultkeeper’s Melody, one of three keys essential for advancement.

While the Conductor might have required strength and the Architect some thinking, the Vaultkeeper test your curiosity. You’ll explore hidden and distant parts of the Citadel’s most secret areas looking for an item only one living bug in Pharloom remembers.

How to Start the Vaultkeeper’s Melody Quest

Once you arrive in the Citadel, the quest begins. At the top, you’ll face the Cogwork Dancers. Defeating them unlocks the exits into the Cogwork Core. Before proceeding, interact with the mechanical device nearby, which will speak to you and ask you to find the melodies needed to open the path to the Cradle. After accepting the quest, head down into the Cogwork Core and Whispering Vaults to begin your search.

Note: The Whispering Vaults can only be accessed from the side of the exits leading to Bilewater, Underworks, and Songclave—they only open from that side.

How to Find the Vaultkeeper’s Melody

Inside the Whispering Vaults, your main goal is to go as far right as possible until you reach a tall vertical chamber where you can descend. You’ll need to push some boxes by hitting them with your Needle and watch out for powerful enemies along the way.

Before hitting your first major stop, take a detour through the third exit on the right (or second if it’s your first visit). In that room, you’ll find a bench and Vaultkeeper Cardinius. The Vaultkeeper can listen to your psalm cylinders—collectible items you should gather—and will be important later. Remember this location.

From the bench, go to the third exit on the left side of the chamber to fight your next boss: Trobbio. This fight takes place in a room marked “The Stage” on your map. The battle is straightforward but flashy. Keep these tips in mind:

    • Use a crest like Reaper, Wanderer, or Witch to pogo off Trobbio’s Tornado.
    • Don’t dash recklessly; walking often works better than sprinting.
    • Stay patient and keep steady movement.
    • Use floor traps and quick-fire projectiles to your advantage.

After defeating Trobbio, you can continue to the right and down the entrance you originally used to arrive. This leads to an elevator taking you down into the Underworks. At the bottom, pull the lever to go up again, then step off the elevator. Be careful of spikes beneath the elevator station—use your Drifter’s Cloak to glide past the spikes safely and prepare to dash over the next set.

Next, navigate northeast through the chamber you enter. Beware of enemies and spikes; opening a shortcut in the top left corner can help if things get tricky. Keep heading north-northeast until you re-enter the Whispering Vaults from below. In this room, rest at the bench near the entrance—there are no mobs or bosses, so it’ll be a good point to prepare.

From there, continue through the vaults until you reach a chamber where you’ll find the Sacred Cylinder on the ground to the left of a bench. You can’t use it right away; instead, return to the central Whispering Vaults bench and talk to the Vaultkeeper. Make sure you choose the dialogue option to play the cylinder. Using your Needolin, memorize the third and most secret melody which is essential for your progress.

  • GWAR Band Criticized for Beheading Elon Musk and Trump Effigies

GWAR Band Criticized for Beheading Elon Musk and Trump Effigies

A heavy metal band faced significant criticism after their recent performance at Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois, where they staged a violent mock-up that involved the bloody disembowelment of U.S. President Donald Trump and the beheading of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

At the festival on September 20, the band brought two effigies—one representing Elon Musk and another of Donald Trump. During their act, they beheaded the Musk effigy and simulated the murder of Trump amidst cheers from the crowd.

This performance is consistent with the band’s 40-year tradition of theatrical displays of violence targeting political figures from both sides of the aisle. In the past, they have simulated similar acts involving statues of Ronald Reagan, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.

The performance sparked widespread outrage, with many criticizing the band and accusing them of promoting violence. Comments flooded social media platforms condemning the act, with some asserting that it incited violence and was a troubling display.

One user on X remarked, “This is incitement. They know exactly what they’re doing.” Meanwhile, another defended the band, saying, “They do this with every president; here, they had Joe Biden sniffing a child before dismemberment on stage. They’ve even done it with Kamala.”

Conversely, some users dismissed the controversy, with one commenting, “It’s Gwar. Love you guys, but you’re uncultured for this one.”

A video capturing the event showed performers at Riot Fest mimicking the gruesome act while the audience cheered, highlighting the provocative nature of their display.

Meet R1: the shrimp-slinging rival of Tesla’s Optimus

Forget Wall Street, Ant Group’s latest flex isn’t financial, it’s R1, a humanoid robot that made its debut by cooking shrimp, reportedly, at IFA 2025 tech show in Berlin. While Tesla’s Optimus dreams of factory work, R1 is already auditioning for Iron Chef.

At 1.7 meters tall and 110 kilos, R1 looks like a heavyweight but moves at a “grandma-jogging pace.” Still, with 34 joints and surprisingly nimble arms, it can stir, flip, and serve without burning the kitchen down, which already puts it ahead of most humans.

Artwork by Affan Qasim created using Gemini Pro

But R1 isn’t just about dinner. Ant Group is pitching it as a tour guide, museum helper, and even a healthcare assistant. The first batch is already clocking in at the Shanghai History Museum, and a flashier second-gen model is in the works.

The humanoid robot race just got more exciting. With Ant joining Tesla, Boston Dynamics, and others, we’re inching closer to a future where robots don’t just build our stuff, they cook it, serve it, and maybe judge us for ordering extra shrimp.

Flowing water? In MY asteroid? Preposterous!

Astronomers have believed that water was only liquid in the earliest moments of our solar system. In a vacuum, water’s boiling point is very low, ensuring that even in asteroids, most water would either freeze or evaporate.

The theory that water came to Earth trapped in small amounts within asteroids isn’t new but these examinations from Japan’s aerospace exploration agency are: they show that there could have been liquid water flowing on Ryugu — a near-Earth asteroid — nearly a billion years after it was formed, which could say that within the layers of ice in asteroids, there was running water.

This means there’s a billion-year time period where ice-packed asteroids likely collided with the Earth, spreading much more water much faster than previously imagined.

On its own, this isn’t that exciting. But this implies that there are other planets out there that could have received much more water than previously thought possible.

We’re still waiting on the confirmation for alien life, but the fact that there’s a lot more water to go around may get your hopes (or fears) up.

Spotify’s latest drop: Audiophile candy most won’t taste

Spotify’s new lossless audio sounds great, but only if you give it the right setup

Artwork by Syed Alihasan Agha created using ChatGPT

Jumping from Spotify’s compressed 96Kbps streams to its standard 320Kbps already feels like swapping a dusty window for clear glass, but stepping up to lossless FLAC is more like polishing that glass until it sparkles, noticeable only if you’re paying close attention.

On delicate acoustic tracks, say, the fingerpicked guitar on José González’s ‘Crosses’ or the soft harmonies in Bon Iver’s ‘Holocene’, the extra detail feels intimate and alive. But crank up bass-heavy EDM or fuzzed-out garage rock through Bluetooth earbuds, and those subtleties vanish in the chaos.

To actually hear the upgrade, you’ll need the app, a wired connection, and a set of solid headphones or speakers. Casual listeners can stick with high-quality streaming, but for audiophiles chasing the tiniest sonic textures, lossless indeed gives Spotify some bragging rights.

    The glass coast

Every year, rising sea levels and storms erode our coastlines, taking plants and trees with them, leaving us vulnerable to storms and floods, and leaving less area for replantation. But there might be a solution.

Researcher Sunshine Van Bael and her team, along with Louisiana-based glass recycling company Glass Half Full, grew grasses and trees in a mixture of ground glass and sediment, effectively giving trees and plants more area to grow with less need for actual substrate.

As of 2022, glass waste made up 6% of Pakistan’s total municipal solid waste. While more work is needed, replicating these results with our mangroves would essentially kill two birds with one stone: waste glass will have a purpose, and we will be protected from the worst of the monsoons’ wrath.

    The freedom to roast

Mastodon, the open-source alternative to X, has just rolled out support for quote posts. Now this is a big step in the right direction. If you want more traffic than what X already gets, you have to at least have the same features and then some.

In X, if you write out a horrible take you would probably get thoroughly thrashed by quote retweets (re-X’s?), Mastodon doesn’t want that. Here, they’re giving you the option to prevent specific posts from being quoted, block specific users from quoting you, or even turn it off entirely for anyone but your followers (or anyone at all).

  • How To Complete Conductor’s Melody in Hollow Knight: Silksong

How To Complete Conductor’s Melody in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong features 28 different biomes. Some of these are part of the main storyline, while others are optional and can be missed. Even within the main biomes, some are particularly challenging, especially if you lack certain abilities or tools.

High Halls is one such biome, accessible via the Choral Chambers. In this area, you’ll face tough platforming sections and a challenging fight, which isn’t even a boss but still one of the hardest challenges in the game.

    How to Enter High Halls

To access High Halls, you first need the Clawline ability, which is only available in the Underworks area after defeating Trobbio. Acquiring this ability takes some time, but once you have it, you can go to the top left of the Choral Chambers. If the path isn’t unlocked yet, you can reach it by defeating the Cogwork Dancers boss, then heading left until you find a bench on the edge of the map.

Before entering, you’ll see a ring above a bench that you can Clawline to. Continuing along the rings, some will lift you higher. Follow these rings, and you’ll find the entrance to High Halls on your right.

How to Reach the Conductor’s Melody

Once inside High Halls, you’ll need to navigate a path filled with parkour and enemies. Start by jumping onto the platform on the right using Clawline. Keep doing this until you pass the first room, fighting an enemy along the way.

In the next area, you’ll see rotating mechanisms with Clawline rings. When a ring is at the bottom, jump and Clawline to it to ascend. At the top of the circle, jump and Clawline to either side ring, then use Cling Grip to go further up. After defeating a Minister enemy here, use the left wall to ascend to the top right exit.

The following room is similar to the first, involving continuous Clawlining and a fight with a Maestro enemy. Further up, two Ministers will appear when you hop onto the next platform. Defeating them is part of a challenging sequence that leads to a final room.

In the final segment, you will need to Clawline across spikes while defeating enemies. Falling down to the bottom, you’ll find a bench, the High Halls map, and a Ventrica on your right. Activating the bench allows you to proceed to a large fight—the Conductor’s Melody—after which you’ll find the score.

How to Beat the High Halls Gauntlet Fight

The final challenge in High Halls is intense, consisting of 11 enemy waves. This isn’t a traditional boss fight, but the waves are tough and require strategic planning.

You’ll face various enemies in each wave:

    • Wave 1: Chorister, Reed, Envoy
    • Wave 2: Two Choristors
    • Wave 3: Reed, Choir Bellbearer, Clawmaiden
    • Wave 4: Two Ministers, Clawmaiden
    • Wave 5: Two Maestros
    • Wave 6: Choir Clapper (mini-boss)
    • Wave 7: Reeds, Choir Bellbearer
    • Wave 8: Two Bellbearers, Choristor, Clawmaiden
    • Wave 9: Ministers, Bellbearer
    • Wave 10: Maestro, Reed
    • Wave 11: Two Choir Clappers

The fight extends beyond what might be expected, often going past the sixth wave. Losing at any point resets the fight back to the first wave at the bench on the right. But there’s a way to make it easier—using special tools.

How to Make the Final Fight Easier

The last wave involving large enemies is nearly impossible to handle normally, as they attack constantly and jump relentlessly. To gain an advantage, you can use the Cogfly and Tacks traps, which deal significant damage.

First, acquire the Ascendant’s Grip from the merchant in Songclave once you unlock her. Position yourself in the top corners during the fight, where attacks can’t reach you. Upon reaching wave 10, place all your Tacks on one side and deploy Cogflies. Use the blind spot, along with traps, to damage the enemies and eliminate one miniboss more easily.

    Secret Locations in High Halls

Aside from the main path, there are hidden areas with valuable items:

    • Psalm Cylinder: Found by breaking a wall on the left in the spike area after the Minister fight, then defeating a larger enemy.
    • Hidden Rosaries: Located above in the ring area before descending into the spike zone.
    • Frayed Rosary String: After the spike area, instead of descending, take the left exit to find this item and push it into falling water, then climb up the silk wall.
    • Simple Key Room: Just before the gauntlet, a room with Rosaries, a Pale Rosary Necklace, and the Rosary Cannon.
    • Cogfly Tool: After descending in the spike room, take the left exit of a Minister enemy to find the crafting table for this tool.
    • Spool Fragment: Using the double jump ability, climb to the upper left to find this part.

These secrets add valuable gear and lore to your journey through High Halls.

  • Spotify Launches Lossless Music Streaming

    Spotify Launches Lossless Music Streaming

Back in 2021, Spotify announced a high-fidelity streaming option, teasing its launch later that year. However, it never materialized, and instead, the platform introduced a variety of other features. Although the original Hi-Fi option hasn’t launched, the company has now unveiled Spotify Lossless, offering high-resolution music streaming.

    ### What is Spotify Lossless?

Spotify describes Lossless as delivering the highest possible audio quality on their platform. For audiophiles, specifics matter, and Spotify is promising a 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC stream for songs. While this isn’t the top-tier in lossless audio—Apple Music, for instance, supports streaming from 16-bit/44.1 kHz up to 24-bit/192 kHz using its proprietary Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC)—it’s still a significant upgrade over standard streaming.

Though not as advanced as some high-res options in the market, this move marks a notable step toward improved sound quality. For comparison, Amazon Music Unlimited offers Ultra HD tracks at 24-bit, 192 kHz, nearly ten times higher in bitrate than standard lossy formats, resulting in richer playback with more detail and depth.

    ### Who Can Use Spotify Lossless?

The lossless tier is available exclusively for Premium subscribers. It can be accessed on mobile devices, desktops, tablets, and any hardware supporting Spotify Connect—such as Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser equipment. Support for Amazon and Sonos devices is expected to arrive next month.

Once enabled, users will see a “Lossless” indicator on the playback screen, especially when listening via wired headphones or speakers connected over a stable Wi-Fi network. Although Bluetooth devices are widely used, they generally don’t provide the bandwidth needed for true high-resolution streaming, meaning the best experience will come from wired setups or supported Wi-Fi devices.

As rollout continues across over 50 markets worldwide, residents in the United States are among the first to gain access, along with users in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Notifications or in-app prompts will alert users when Lossless becomes available for their accounts.

Enablement of Lossless will require manual activation on each device. When turned on, the interface will display a Lossless badge during playback, signaling the enhanced quality. However, for the full experience, it’s recommended to use wired audio gear and a reliable Wi-Fi connection, as Bluetooth still doesn’t support the bandwidth necessary for true high-res sound.

This advancement marks an exciting development for audiophiles and casual listeners alike, signaling Spotify’s commitment to providing higher-quality sound options for its users.

  • Zohran Mamdani: Rapper Turned NYC Mayoral Frontrunner Celebrates Diversity

Zohran Mamdani: Rapper Turned NYC Mayoral Frontrunner Celebrates Diversity

Zohran Mamdani, a former rapper born in Uganda to Indian parents, is currently leading the race for New York City mayor. While most candidates haven’t incorporated their musical past into their campaigns, Mamdani proudly includes his history as a rapper in his official records. He performed under the pseudonyms Young Cardamom and Mr. Cardamom, earning modest royalties from his performances.

In 2016, Mamdani performed as part of a duo with childhood friend Hussein Abdul Bar at a festival in their native Uganda. That same year, a music video featured Mamdani performing alongside HAB for the song “#1 Spice,” connected to the release of Mira Nair’s film “Queen of Katwe,” which his mother directed. The movie tells the true story of a Ugandan girl who rises to become a chess champion, and the music video included appearances by Lupita Nyong’o and other young actors.

A co-founder of the Nyege Nyege festival, Derek Debru, recalls Mamdani gaining media attention when his music videos circulated on TV, prompting Mamdani to meet a hip-hop producer and record his own songs. One notable track is a bilingual rap that references a popular Indian and East African flatbread, with lyrics: “I got the same history as chapati, origins of India, but born in UG. Rock brown skin, but I’m Ugandan. I can rap both in English and Luganda.”

Mam-dani declined to comment for an interview but was involved in a project with renowned Indian culinary writer and actress Madhur Jaffrey. In a playful street-food-cart music video, Jaffrey, dressed casually in a yellow hoodie, rapped and danced beside Mamdani, who wore an apron without a shirt underneath. Jaffrey amusingly remarked on her role, saying, “I have to make a murder as Lady Macbeth… so what’s a few dirty words between us?” during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

Following his success in the Democratic primary, a friend from Uganda, Magnus Thomson—who was the sound producer for Mamdani’s collaboration with Jaffrey—initially thought Mamdani had been elected mayor. It took a few days for him to realize there was still a general election to win. Thomson, a Dane, appreciated Mamdani’s consistency in maintaining his democratic socialist beliefs.

In a July campaign video, Mamdani’s humor showed through when he made RZA from Wu-Tang Clan laugh by referencing Wu-Tang Financial, a comedic skit where Wu-Tang members played financial advisors. Mamdani emphasized that Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood, where RZA’s home is located, should be a place residents feel proud to stay.

Derek Debru believes Mamdani’s past as a rapper contributes to his authenticity as a politician, noting that Mamdani embraces his background fully. “We knew who he was. It was really exciting to see a person like him own who he is without hiding it,” Debru said.

  • How To Manage Your Mac Media Libraries with Apple Tools

How To Manage Your Mac Media Libraries with Apple Tools

This guide will help you understand where media files are stored on your Mac from Catalina onwards and how to reorganize your media library if you’ve migrated from an older iTunes setup. Whether you’re moving your library or just cleaning up, these tips can make the process easier.

If you’re unsure about what changed with the release of macOS 10.15 Catalina, Apple’s support page offers a good overview. When migrating your iTunes library from a much earlier version, you can retain your ratings, play counts, playlists, and other data by holding down the Option key while opening the Music or TV app for the first time. This lets you select your old iTunes library file (.itl) to convert it into the new format. You only need to do this once per app. After conversion, all your data will remain in your original media folders.

To keep your library organized, you might want to tidy up any lingering legacy content. Moving your media library to match the structure used by the latest apps can make future upgrades smoother. For legacy libraries from before Mojave, you can even update the older iTunes library on a Mojave system before migrating it to Music.

When managing your media files manually, the recommended method is to declare the folder you want to use through Preferences under Music or TV > Files, then consolidate your library to that location. Keep in mind, this process copies files instead of moving them, so you’ll need enough space for both copies during the process.

Moving your media folder within the same volume is much easier since macOS handles it well. For example, you can rename your old iTunes Media folder to “Media” and move it to a new location like ~/Music/Music/Media, as long as it stays on the same drive. After relocating, it’s a good idea to review any leftover iTunes content you no longer need and clear it out.

When starting a new music library, here’s what the structure generally looks like:

    • Your home folder
    • A “Music” folder where all music-related content is stored
    • Inside “Music,” you’ll find:
      • A “Music” library file (with a .musiclibrary extension)
      • A “Media” folder containing:
        • Artist folders, with album folders inside each
        • Individual tracks inside albums
      • An optional “Previous Libraries” folder if you’ve upgraded from an older version
    • Other folders include Apple Music (if subscribed), “Automatically Add to Music” for new files, “Compilations,” “Downloads,” and possibly nested artist folders if your library migrated from iTunes.

Some files like album artwork or redundant “Automatically Add” folders can be safely deleted once your library is stable.

For audiobooks and books, these are managed through the Books app. Audiobooks can be imported into Books or added to the Music app first for metadata correction. The folder where Books stores files is hidden, located at:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks

Podcasts subscriptions now sync with your Apple ID and are stored in the cloud, making it difficult to migrate old files. The podcasts library is stored here:

    ~/Library/Group Containers/243LU875E5.groups.com.apple.podcasts

If you’re starting a new TV library, it will typically have a folder structure like this:

    • Your home folder
    • A “Movies” folder for all video content
    • Inside “Movies,” a “TV” folder containing:
      • A “Media” folder for all media
      • An “Automatically Add to TV” folder for new media
      • Subfolders for “Home Videos,” “Movies,” and “TV Shows”
      • Optional “Previous Libraries” folder if upgraded
      • The main TV library file, ending in .tvlibrary

Moving media within the same volume is straightforward. You can rename and relocate your folders, then update settings in Music or TV to reflect the new location. For detailed steps, check Apple’s official support pages.

Keeping your media organized helps in managing your collection and ensures smoother upgrades in the future. Whether you’re reorganizing after migration or starting fresh, understanding where everything is stored will make your media management much easier.

  • How To Improve TV Sound for Free

How To Improve TV Sound for Free

Remember the days when you could just turn on your TV, set the volume once, and everything was crystal clear? However, as screens have become slimmer and more minimalist, the audio experience has taken a hit—transforming watching TV into an unpredictable rollercoaster ride of sound.

Dialogue often comes through so quietly and muffled that subtitles become a necessity just to keep up. Meanwhile, sudden explosions and soundtrack crescendos can practically shake the furniture, making the overall experience more jarring than relaxing. It’s frustrating, and it turns what should be a simple, enjoyable activity into a constant game of adjusting the volume—up, down, then up again—to find a comfortable balance.

When this becomes a regular issue, many people consider investing in a soundbar or surround sound system to enhance their audio. But before spending extra money, it’s worthwhile to check your TV’s settings and placement. Small adjustments to how your TV is positioned or configured can make a significant difference in your sound quality.

With insights from Michael Price, a TV and Home AV specialist at Panasonic, here are some practical tips and tricks that may help you achieve better audio performance without additional equipment or hefty expenses.

    ### 1. Correct TV Placement Matters
Where you position your TV in the room can greatly affect how it sounds, especially depending on its built-in speakers. Many modern TVs feature speakers that fire from the back or downward, rather than forward. If you mount a TV with rear-firing speakers flush against a wall, sound can become muffled, echoey, or distant because the audio reflects back into the wall. The same applies if your TV’s downward-firing speakers are blocked by furniture or placed on a flat surface.

To optimize sound, position your TV so that rear-firing speakers are a good distance from the wall—leaving space behind it. If your speakers face forward, make sure they’re unobstructed and angled toward your seating area for the best sound projection.

    ### 2. Ensure Your TV Isn’t in Store or Demo Mode
Some TVs, especially those purchased in retail stores, may default to “Store Mode,” which emphasizes brightness and volume to attract buyers. This setting can produce overly loud, bass-heavy sound that isn’t ideal for everyday viewing. Check your TV’s settings to verify it’s in “Home” or “User” mode, then adjust the sound settings for more natural audio.

    ### 3. Use Your TV’s Spatial Sound Settings
Higher-end models often come equipped with AI-driven sound calibration features that adapt to your room. For example, Panasonic’s Space Tune function can send test signals to your remote’s microphone, measure the room’s acoustics, and automatically adjust the speaker output and settings accordingly. To benefit from this, sit in your usual viewing spot, ensure the room is quiet, and hold the remote at ear level while the calibration runs.

    ### 4. Check for a Sound Wizard or Auto-Setup
Many newer TVs come with built-in sound optimization features or “wizards” that guide you through customizing audio profiles. LG’s Personalized Sound Wizard, for instance, offers preset profiles for different listening preferences, like Vocal Enhancement or Spatial Sound. These prompts help you find a sound profile that fits your taste without manually fiddling with individual settings.

    ### 5. Start with Basic Sound Modes
If advanced features aren’t available, begin with your TV’s standard or “Normal” mode, often labeled as “Standard,” “Auto,” or “Straight Through.” This mode typically disables unnecessary processing, delivering the most natural sound. From there, you can fine-tune using the equalizer to suit your preferences.

    ### 6. Adjust Bass on Wall-Mounted TVs
If your TV is mounted on the wall, tweaking the bass can make a noticeable difference. Deep bass adds excitement but can also cause distortion, especially if your TV is close to or pressed against a wall. Moderating bass levels helps reduce unwanted rumbles and prevents audio from sounding muddy or distorted.

    ### 7. Brighten Up Dialogue with Treble
If speech sounds muffled, increase the treble and lower the bass slightly. Turning up the treble emphasizes higher frequencies where voices reside, making dialogue clearer. Turning off surround sound effects or audio enhancements that add rumbling can also help voices stand out more prominently.

    ### 8. Perfect Your Room’s Acoustics
In open-concept spaces with lots of hard surfaces—like tile floors, glass windows, and sleek countertops—sound reflection can cause echoes and reverberations. To improve clarity, incorporate soft furnishings such as curtains, cushions, or rugs to absorb excess sound. Switching to a “Music” or “Voice” mode on your TV can also help reduce harsh reflections and echo.

    ### 9. Make Use of Dolby Atmos
Even if your TV lacks multiple built-in speakers, a high-quality decoder and digital tuner enable playback of immersive audio formats like Dolby Atmos, available on services such as Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+. Ensure your subscription plan supports Atmos (for example, Netflix’s Premium Plan), and confirm that your TV or sound system can process these signals for a richer, more enveloping sound experience.

    ### 10. Keep Your Firmware Up to Date
Manufacturers periodically release firmware updates that can improve performance, including audio quality. Check your TV’s settings regularly for updates — a simple download and install might enhance dialogue clarity and overall sound without any extra cost.

If nothing seems to improve the audio experience, investing in a good soundbar or surround sound system may be the next step. Remember, the quality of your speakers makes a significant difference. Thinner TVs often have smaller speakers that can’t produce the full range of sound, especially bass. Larger speakers with more room to vibrate tend to deliver richer, more dynamic audio.

In the end, understanding and adjusting your TV’s placement and settings can go a long way toward enjoying better sound—sometimes even more than upgrading your hardware.

  • Study: Skrillex Music May Shield You from Mosquito Bites

Study: Skrillex Music May Shield You from Mosquito Bites

Digital Phablet – A study from 2019 has recently gained renewed attention on social media, highlighting that Skrillex’s track, “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,” may serve as an effective mosquito repellent. The research indicated that listening to this popular Dubstep song can notably decrease the number of mosquito bites.

The findings published in Acta Tropica in June 2019 demonstrated that Dubstep influences female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, commonly known as yellow fever mosquitoes. When exposed to “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” for 10 minutes, these mosquitoes hesitated longer before attacking hosts and visited them fewer times.

Researchers selected this track specifically for its range of low and high frequencies, which appeared to greatly impact the mosquitoes’ behavior.

Study: Skrillex’s music may help protect you from mosquito bites

According to the BBC, the researcher explained, “In insects, low-frequency vibrations promote mating behaviors, while noise interferes with their ability to perceive signals from each other and from hosts.”

Researchers added, "The fact that such music can delay host attack, decrease blood feeding, and interfere with mating offers promising new approaches for developing music-based personal protection and control strategies against Aedes-borne diseases."

Acta Tropica also noted that the mosquitoes’ sexual activity diminished as a result of the music, suggesting that female mosquitoes appeared to find it "entertaining."

A social media user on X (formerly Twitter) commented, "Imagine mosquitoes evolving to dislike EDM, bet they’re huge Swifties though."

Another user added, "Really? I’m playing that on repeat all summer long."

  • Harry Styles Releases Sex Toys Instead of Songs — Fans Say “We Wanted Music”

Harry Styles Releases Sex Toys Instead of Songs — Fans Say “We Wanted Music”

Fans are abuzz about the latest sex toys launched by Harry Styles. This week, the former One Direction member caught widespread attention after posting a cryptic update on Instagram Stories. While many fans speculated he might be teasing new music, he actually announced the release of a new clothing line from Pleasing, his lifestyle brand founded in 2021.

Initially, Harry kept details under wraps, sharing a mysterious image of someone placing a glass of milk on a table and tapping Morse code, with a woman appearing shocked by the scene. The accompanying text hinted at an age restriction—”For those 18 and older”—and included a link to a website with similar wording. The site displayed phrases like “Something Nice is Coming Soon” and “Not Everything Needs to Be Spelled Out.”

The brand has now revealed plans to introduce a new line of “intimacy tools,” designed to place pleasure directly into users’ hands. These products are part of their expansion beyond nail polish and skincare, which initially included only those items, but over time, the brand has grown to offer apparel, accessories, candles, and fragrances.

Currently, there are two products available: “The Pleasing Lube,” a silicone lubricant approved by the FDA, priced at $25 (£19), and “The Pleasing Double-Sided Vibrator,” created in collaboration with author Zoe Ligon, costing $68 (£50). The release has sparked mixed reactions among fans; some are supportive and excited about his business ventures, while others express disappointment, wishing he would focus on music instead.

Social media commentary reveals a range of opinions. One user joked, “Harry Styles is putting out vibrators before going to the studio and making HS4,” while others lamented, “We didn’t ask for this; we wanted new music.” Conversely, a few fans are embracing the new products enthusiastically—one declared, “All my years as a One Direction fan have led me here… I’ll definitely buy the Harry Styles vibrator.” Comparisons have also been drawn between these products and other celebrity-endorsed items, such as Sydney Sweeney’s bathwater soap, highlighting the diverse reactions within the fan base.

Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, Harry has been involved in various activities recently. Earlier this year, he was seen attending the Vatican City during the election of the new Pope, and prior to that, he participated in the Tokyo Marathon. Alongside Dua Lipa, he was listed among the wealthiest UK artists under 30 last year, reflecting his financial growth since going solo.

Musically, Harry remains a chart-topping artist with hits like “Watermelon Sugar” and “As It Was,” and has embarked on a global stadium tour, earning numerous awards—including BRITs, Grammys, and Ivor Novellos. Despite his busy schedule, he continues to make headlines both for his artistic achievements and daring new ventures.
