Google is experimenting with displaying the list of advertisers within the sponsored results section at the top of the mobile search results ad block. When there are two ads in the sponsored group, Google will now show the favicon and domain name of the advertisers directly above the actual ads, placed beneath the “Sponsored results” header. This information appears at the very top of the ad block, providing users with immediate context about the ads before they see the promoted content.
This feature was observed by Sachin Patel, who shared screenshots of this change. One of the images illustrates how the favicon and domain name are now prominently displayed above the respective ads, making it easier for users to identify who is advertising early on.
This adjustment seems to align with Google’s layout that allows for ad grouping where advertisers can toggle the visibility of their ads. The addition of advertiser details at this position might influence user behavior, possibly affecting click-through rates on the ads. Such updates hint at Google’s ongoing efforts to improve transparency and user experience in mobile search results.
