PlayStation State of Play: September Events Confirmed Back-to-Back

PlayStation State of Play is making a comeback with two consecutive events this September. PS5 enthusiasts can look forward to new reveals from highly anticipated upcoming projects.

The first State of Play will occur on September 3, 2026, featuring updates from various studios and in-depth insights from Japanese developers. Immediately afterward, the State of Play Japan livestream will follow.

Earlier this summer, in June, the last State of Play focused on the awaited PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel’s Wolverine. It also announced a new entry in the God of War series, titled God of War Laufey.

Both events will be streamed live on September 3, 2026, starting at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET / 3 p.m. CEST / 10 p.m. JST on YouTube and Twitch, according to the official PlayStation blog.

The initial livestream will deliver key updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. It will culminate with an extended trailer and details for Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix, which was recently showcased at Gamescom. This highly anticipated game, the last installment in the Final Fantasy VII remake series, is set to release in spring 2027.

Right after, the State of Play Japan broadcast, hosted by Yuki Kaji, will provide deep dives into a range of upcoming projects from Japanese and Asian studios. Fans can expect fresh gameplay footage, new announcements, and more.

Sony has not officially confirmed the full lineup of titles that will be showcased beyond Final Fantasy VII Revelation, nor the duration of the events. There is speculation that updates could be shared about previously announced games such as God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, and the Ghost of Yotei expansion, but these details remain unofficial at this point.

The official announcement for the State of Play was made just one day after insider NateTheHate suggested that Sony planned to hold a September event.
