If you’re worried about unexpected charges on your AWS account, here’s a simple way to handle it and find out what’s causing the charges.
First, log into your AWS billing dashboard. This is where you can see all your charges. Look for any services or subscriptions that you don’t recognize or no longer use. Sometimes, you may also have active subscriptions through the AWS Marketplace that you forgot about.
If you find any unknown or unwanted services, the next step is to cancel them. If the charges are from a Marketplace subscription that bills based on usage or if you bought something within the last 48 hours, you can cancel it yourself through the AWS Marketplace console. If you think you should get a refund, you’ll need to contact the seller directly and ask for a billing adjustment.
For other types of subscriptions or services, the seller is responsible for canceling and providing any refunds. So, you should reach out to them directly for assistance.
Here are the steps to follow:
1. Sign into your AWS account and review your billing details to identify the specific charges.
2. If it’s a Marketplace subscription, go to the AWS Marketplace console and check your active subscriptions.
3. For charges from other AWS services, you can manage or review these through your AWS console or contact AWS Support for help. You can reach support at their support center online.
It’s important to act quickly, especially if the charges are recent. Some cancellation and refund options are only available within a certain time frame, so don’t delay.
