A popular PlayStation 5 game is about to get a highly anticipated patch update. This follows the game’s developers acknowledging significant player requests for improvements. These optimizations might be included in a future update to enhance the experience.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. Fans have been eager for updates on the game’s other platform versions, and Bethesda Game Studios responded, saying, “We’ve heard your feedback asking for an additional patch for Oblivion Remastered. The Nintendo Switch 2 version has several optimizations we’re exploring to bring to other platforms. We’ll share more details as they become available.”
The Switch 2 version of Oblivion Remastered performs well thanks to the console’s Nvidia hardware and its Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology. Still, it has some frame pacing issues and bugs that Bethesda may address in upcoming patches. Since Xbox and PlayStation 5 consoles use AMD hardware, they can’t benefit from Nvidia’s DLSS for faster and sharper gameplay, which limits potential improvements on those systems.
Looking ahead, Bethesda is considering applying some of the Switch 2’s optimizations to other platforms. If these updates happen, they would be the third patches for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Details about what these updates might include are still under wraps, but fans can expect improvements in frame-time stability and overall performance.
The remastered version of Oblivion, powered by Unreal Engine 5, was released on April 22, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with the Switch 2 version launching on August 11, 2026. The PS5 and Xbox versions have received two post-launch updates, the latest coming in July 2025. Despite these patches, the game still experienced frequent crashes and performance issues, which hindered the experience. With no new updates released since last year, fans have been calling for further patches, and their voice is finally being heard.
