A new trailer revealed that Donnie Yen is serving as a creative consultant for the game; he also plays the role of Mó Yuan, the protagonist’s father. What do we know so far about Phantom Blade Zero’s gameplay?

Players will step into the shoes of Soul, a warrior falsely accused of murdering his master, with only 66 days to clear his name and survive. The game blends Wuxia mythology and symbolism with modern graphics, set in the “Phantom world,” also known as Wulin—a semi-open world environment filled with action.

Phantom Blade Zero promises over 30 weapons to master within a combat system dubbed “Kungfupunk,” which merges traditional swordplay with high-energy martial arts set to contemporary rock music.

Originally unveiled at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, this game is S-Game’s latest in what was previously known as the Rainblood franchise. The series launched with Rainblood: Town of Death in 2010, and later entries were released on Android and iOS in China under the Phantom Blade name. The first global release was Phantom Blade: Executioners in 2023.

Phantom Blade Zero is set to launch on October 29, 2026, for PC and PS5, and pre-orders are now available.
