Three months ago, Nvidia announced that DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction would soon be available for RTX GPUs. The wait has now ended, as the update can be downloaded through the Nvidia app, following its announcement at Gamescom 2026. Here’s what you need to know.

Nvidia Introduces DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction for RTX Devices

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is an advanced neural rendering technology compatible with all GeForce RTX graphics cards. It enhances image clarity in ray-traced and path-traced scenes by producing sharper visuals. Unlike the earlier Nvidia DLSS 4 Ray Reconstruction, this version utilizes a Second-Generation Transformer AI to convert noisy, low-sample ray-traced data into clearer, more precise images.

This technology efficiently reconstructs noisy visuals with an AI-based denoiser, resulting in better resolution and realistic lighting effects in games using ray tracing or path tracing. If you own a GeForce RTX card, here’s how to activate DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction via the Nvidia app:

  • Navigate to Settings and select About
  • Enable Early Access releases
  • Go to the “Graphics” section and pick a supported game (see list below)
  • Scroll to Driver Settings
  • Choose DLSS Override – Model Presets
  • Select Custom
  • Open the Ray Reconstruction dropdown menu and pick “Recommended” or “Preset F”
  • Click Apply

Alternatively, you can select “Global Settings” at the top of the window to apply the updated Ray Reconstruction settings across all supported games in your library, saving time and effort.

With this update now available to all GeForce RTX users, Nvidia announced that two upcoming titles will receive DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and Path Tracing support next month: 007 First Light on September 15 and Control: Resonant launching on September 24, 2026. Remedy’s sequel will be the first major AAA game in 2026 to launch with this feature.

Upcoming titles like Phantom Blade Zero and Gears of War: E-Day are also scheduled to get the update soon. According to Nvidia’s DLSS 4.5 blog post, this update is currently supported in 30 games, including the following:

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • Enlisted
  • NTE (Neverness to Everness)
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
  • Everspace 2

Additionally, Nvidia will implement DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction in various Remix Mods, including Quake III’s RTX Remix Mod and Painkiller’s RTX Edition. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind’s RTX mod will also join this list soon, as announced at Gamescom 2026. However, those eagerly awaiting Nvidia DLSS 5 may have to hold on a bit longer.
