Guns in Palworld can be found as weapons for your character, your Pals, and also for your base in the form of turrets. The game and its marketing materials show a wide array of firearms like shotguns, pistols, machine guns, SMGs, rocket launchers, and even miniguns. Here’s a quick overview of how you can unlock and build these weapons, along with a list of all the firearms available so far.
How do you get a gun in Palworld?
Getting guns in Palworld mainly involves leveling up your character enough to unlock firearm recipes on the technology tree. This process takes some time, as you need to reach certain levels before the weapons become accessible. Once unlocked, you craft these weapons at your base using specific workbenches and assemblies, depending on their complexity.
Getting guns for your Pals
To equip your Pals with weapons, follow these steps:
- Catch any Pal that can equip weapons.
- Research the weapon in the technology tree.
- Use a Pal Gear Workbench to craft the weapon.
- Equip it to your Pal.
For example, crafting the Lifmunk submachine gun grants it the special ability “Lifmunk Recoil,” which allows it to leap onto your head and fire wherever you aim.
Getting guns for your base
To add defensive weaponry to your base:
- Research and build mounted weapons, which Pals can operate.
- Assign a Pal to work your mounted weapon by throwing it onto the weapon station.
Most mounted weapons become available at level 26 with the Mounted Crossbow and can be upgraded to a Mounted Missile Launcher at level 50 if you reach level 50.
Weapon progression
As you level up, you unlock recipes for various guns in order:
- Old Bow (level 3)
- Fire Bow (level 5)
- Poison Bow (level 8)
- Three Shot Bow (level 10)
- Crossbow (level 13)
- Fire Arrow Crossbow (level 15)
- Poison Arrow Crossbow (level 17)
- Musket (level 21)
- Makeshift Handgun (level 24)
- Makeshift SMG (level 26)
- Handgun (level 28)
- Makeshift Shotgun (level 30)
- Makeshift Assault Rifle (level 31)
- And so on, up to advanced weaponry like Plasma Cannon and Charge Rifle at higher levels.
Generally, it takes a good amount of gameplay before you’re able to craft even basic firearms, with more powerful weapons coming after much leveling.
Crafting weapons
Unlocking a weapon recipe simply grants you the blueprint; crafting the actual weapon and its ammo requires building at dedicated stations. The crafting chain includes:
- Primitive Workbench (level 1)
- High Quality Workbench (level 11)
- Weapon Workbench (level 20)
- Weapon Assembly Line (level 32)
- Advanced Assembly Lines at higher levels
You unlock these workbenches through research on the technology tree, adding new layers to your weapon-crafting capabilities.
Getting weapons for your Pals
To equip a Pal with a weapon:
- Capture a Pal that can use gear.
- Research that weapon.
- Build it at the Pal Gear Workbench.
- Equip it to your Pal to give them new combat abilities.
Getting base defenses
You can also research and craft defenses like mounted weapons to guard your base. Pals can then be assigned to operate these defenses by simply tossing them onto the weapon station—creating a guard system that helps fend off enemies. The earliest mountable defenses become available at level 26, with more advanced options like missile launchers available at level 50.
Summary
Unlocking and crafting weapons in Palworld involves progressing through levels, researching recipes, and assembling gear at various workbenches. While it’s a slow process initially, it opens up a wide range of powerful tools and defenses to help you in your adventures and protect your territory.
