A beloved ’90s PlayStation game is being remastered for the PS5, with significant updates aimed at reviving a fan-favorite character.

Argonaut Games has announced that Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos will receive a remaster for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. An official release date has not yet been revealed, so fans will have to wait for more details on when it will be available.

In addition to enhanced graphics, the remastered version will introduce a host of new features, such as fresh enemies, new characters to engage with, and revamped gameplay mechanics. A triple jump move has been added to diversify the platforming experience, and the visuals will be modernized for current-gen consoles. A digital museum will also be included, offering a retrospective on the game’s development and release history.

First launched in 1999, Croc 2 is a classic platformer from the ’90s. Players control Croc, a crocodile on a mission to find his missing parents and rescue Professor Gobbo from an antagonist. Like many games from that era, Croc 2 gained notoriety for its aggressive promotional campaign, with Croc appearing across various products during its release to build hype.
