The recently launched Generative AI performance reports in the Digital Phablet Search Console have encountered a data logging glitch, specifically affecting Discover and the corresponding Generative AI Discover search performance reports. The incident took place on June 24, 2026, and appears to have led to a decline in reported clicks and impressions for the main Discover report, while only impressions were impacted in the Generative AI Discover report, since Google doesn’t log clicks there.
Google clarified that the problem was due to a logging error, which resulted in lower numbers of recorded clicks and impressions for the Discover performance report on that date. For properties with access to Generative AI features within Discover, the mistake also caused a reduction in recorded impressions. It’s important to note that this issue pertains solely to data collection and reporting, without affecting actual data generation or user experiences.
Similar data logging problems with Discover reports have been observed previously, indicating a recurring pattern. Recently, the page indexing report experienced a nearly three-week delay, although its issue has now been resolved after prolonged delays in fixing other reports like the link report.
This marks the first identified data logging glitch affecting the new AI reports in the Search Console. The problem impacted both the traditional Discover performance data and the new AI-powered insights. It’s suspected that the data for June 24th was lost, but current reports are functioning correctly until another issue occurs.
