Square Enix’s highly anticipated PS5 action RPG has finally received an official release window following years of speculation. During the recent Disney fan event D23 held just before the weekend, companies announced that Kingdom Hearts IV is set to launch in late 2027.
The game’s projected release in late 2027 indicates it will likely have a physical disc release, as the final manufacturing cutoff is scheduled for January 2028. However, Square Enix has not yet provided detailed launch information, so we’ll be waiting for official confirmation.

Square Enix also shared that Disney and Pixar’s Coco will make an appearance in the game.
“Our hero Sora awakens in the unfamiliar world of Quadratum,” an official synopsis states. “While searching for a way to return from this modern city back to his own world, his friends Donald and Goofy venture into the Underworld hoping to find clues to his location.”
Regarding gameplay, Square Enix mentioned that Kingdom Hearts IV will feature a “dynamic, fast-paced battle system that allows players to combine attacks and magic seamlessly, as well as build combos with a new battle mechanic.”
Players will also have the option to change Sora’s Keyblade to perform unique attacks tailored to battle situations, strategies, and personal play styles.
We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
