A highly anticipated dark fantasy action RPG for PS5 has received an official release date after experiencing a delay. Crafted by the South Korean developers at Project Cloud Games and published through Perp Games, The Relic: First Guardian is set to launch on July 31, 2026.
The Relic: First Guardian was initially unveiled in 2021 under the title Project Relic, promising a multiplayer action game. However, as development progressed, the project’s direction shifted, which likely caused the delay. Now positioned as a “soulslike” RPG, the game’s gameplay seems to lean more toward traditional action RPG mechanics rather than the core challenging aspects typically associated with soulslike titles.
The game presents an expansive semi-open world, encouraging exploration across the ruined landscape of Arsiltus—a once-thriving land now engulfed by the void created when the great relic was destroyed. Players are tasked with collecting the pieces of this shattered relic to seal the void and restore the world. As the last hope for Arsiltus, players can evolve their characters using a variety of skills, decipher the mysteries of the fallen land, and work toward bringing prosperity back to the realm.
Arsiltus is depicted as a haunting, devastated environment where players can choose from five unique weapon types, each with distinct gameplay styles. The game’s narrative and gameplay promise a mix of exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving that aims to captivate fans of dark fantasy adventures.
PS5 users can add the game to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store to stay updated on its release.
