  • Hollow Knight: Silksong — Tips to Defeat Grandmother Silk

Hollow Knight: Silksong — Tips to Defeat Grandmother Silk

One of the biggest challenges in Hollow Knight: Silksong is facing Grand Mother Silk, a very tough boss whose defeat can lead to different endings depending on your choices. You find her at the end of Act 2. She might be your last opponent, or just a hurdle to a new phase of your journey.

Before going up against Grand Mother Silk, it’s a good idea to gather some Spool Fragments or Mask Shards in Silksong to boost your supplies. Four Mask Shards give you extra health, and every two Spool Fragments increase Hornet’s maximum Silk. Improving your health and strength will make the fight much easier.

Where to Find Grand Mother Silk
You can find her after you defeat Lace for the second time during Act 2. Doing this unlocks a new path, leading Hornet past the Cogwork Core above the Choral Chambers into a new part of your map.

Grand Mother Silk is located in The Cradle, which you access through an elevator that opens after the Lace fight. When you go up in this elevator, you end up at the bottom of The Cradle. You need to climb to the top where a large silk cocoon is filled with her. To start the boss fight, select the “Challenge” option on a big platform near the top of The Cradle. Make sure you’re fully healed and ready before choosing this, so check your health and tools.

How to Defeat Grand Mother Silk
The fight begins as Grand Mother Silk uses six floating needles and sharp spools of thread to attack Hornet. Each silk attack signals where her next move will come from, so paying close attention to these threads will help you predict and dodge her.

Grand Mother Silk moves back and forth across the arena. To make the most of your attacks, it’s best to upgrade the Needle weapon beforehand. During the fight, she will use her best moves, such as needle spears, silk avalanches, rising spikes, and silk field attacks.

The most dangerous attack is the Silk Song, which can strip away three masks in one hit. Needle Spear attacks are also very serious, especially when she throws all six needles from different sides as her health drops.

Try to use her needles and spikes as jumping-off points to pogo attack, giving you extra airtime and resetting your movement. While dodging her attacks, keep hitting her as often as possible. Doing so will eventually stagger her, creating a perfect chance to deal maximum damage. Learning her patterns and staying prepared will help you win the fight.

What to Do After Beating Grand Mother Silk
As long as you keep fighting her, using the right tools and movements, you can defeat her. But after she’s down, your next steps depend on the choices you made during the fight. Different options will lead to different endings and trophies. For those aiming to see all game endings, this boss fight is crucial—your decisions here shape Hornet’s fate.

Choices When Defeating Grand Mother Silk:

    • Bind Grand Mother Silk: Ends the game with the “Weaver Queen” ending.
    • Use The Needolin On Her: Complete the “Silk and Soul” wish before the fight to unlock Act 3, leading to the “True” ending.
    • Curse Grand Mother Silk: Stay cursed until you beat her, unlocking the “Cursed Child” ending.

Since this boss influences three of the five main endings, you might face her multiple times to unlock every conclusion. Using similar strategies each time will help you succeed no matter the outcome.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – Banishing the Twisted Bud and Curse

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Banishing the Twisted Bud and Curse

Exploring in Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most rewarding parts of the game. But the Twisted Bud is actually more of a nuisance once you have it. You find it deep in Bilewater, beyond numerous traps and pools infested with Muckmaggots. It’s the only item in the game that you’ll probably regret collecting.

The Twisted Bud constantly makes a loud crying noise whenever you’re in a menu, and the sound gets louder the closer you get to your inventory. At first, it seems like there’s no way to stop the noise—you just have to ignore it temporarily. Luckily, there is a way to get rid of the incessant crying, but it involves a lengthy questline.

What Does the Twisted Bud Do?

Besides being disturbing to look at—the wriggling creature—it plays a role in several side quests. It’s even tied to one of Silksong’s alternate endings, which requires quite a bit of effort to unlock.

The first clues about the Twisted Bud come from Bellhart, where Pavo hints that your next destination is in Shellwood’s heart. He warns that no one who has gone that way has ever returned.

How to Get Rid of the Twisted Bud

Ignoring Pavo’s warning, you need to visit the same NPC who gave you the “Rite of the Pollip” quest in Act 1—Greyroot’s hut located in the top left of Shellwood’s middle chasm. When you talk to Greyroot, they’ll offer you the “Rite of Rebirth” quest, which is one of the shortest in the game.

Note: You must complete Greyroot’s “Rite of the Pollip” quest before unlocking this side quest.

After being tricked by Greyroot and becoming fully infected with the Twisted Bud, Hornet wakes up in a hidden part of The Marrow with a lower Silk bar, no tools, and no way to heal herself. You’ll get a new Crest to experiment with, but you’ll be at a disadvantage until you cure the curse.

How to Remove the Twisted Bug Curse

To cure Hornet, return to Bellhart and talk to Pavo again. He will direct you to locate the bug that can lift Hornet’s curse, which involves dashing across the map in your weakened state. Here’s what you need to do:

    • Visit the Locked Bellhome in the top left corner of Greymoor.
    • Accept the “Infestation Operation” quest from Yarnaby.
    • Go to Crull & Benjin’s house in the top right enclave of Sinner’s Road.
    • Buy Steel Spines for 260 Rosaries.
    • Return to the Locked Bellhome in Greymoor.
    • Speak to Yarnaby to remove the curse.

Once Yarnaby helps lift the curse, you’ll unlock the Witch Crest—an item you’ve used before when cursed. Upgraded, it can give you two Red Tool slots and three Blue Tool slots.

The Witch Crest has whip-like attacks that keep you invulnerable during a downslash and an AoE life-stealing charge, similar to the Beast Crest. It’s a versatile tool, especially when combined with Hornet’s universal Tool slots.

This cursed state is also needed to unlock one of Silksong’s exclusive endings. It’s a good idea to unlock an Ancestal Melody beforehand as a backup save point. After saving your progress, defeating the final boss above the Citadel with these restrictions will unlock the Twisted Child ending and earn you an achievement.

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Ultimate Verso Build Guide (Skills & Weapons)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Ultimate Verso Build Guide (Skills & Weapons)

Verso is the hidden gem of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Not much was known about his background before the game came out. He is one of the strongest damage dealers in the game, but you won’t be able to add him to your team until you start Act 2.

In combat, Verso relies on a system of Perfection and Ranks. You build Perfection by hitting enemies, which boosts his Rank from D all the way up to S-Rank. When he reaches higher Ranks, his attacks do much more damage.

This Perfection and Rank system helps him break enemy shields, cause Stuns, and build up Break Bar damage. To make the most of Verso, focus on skills that trigger Critical Hits and maximize his critical rate by using the best Pictos.

Best Weapons for Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

The Glaceso or Contorso Swords & Daggers Are Ideal for Critical Hit Builds

For an effective Critical Hit build, I recommend the Glaceso or Contorso weapons because both have special Critical Hit effects. I prefer the Glaceso because it deals higher damage and is of Ice Element, but you can only get it in the optional Frozen Hearts area in Act 2.

Weapon Upgrades Max Power (Level 33) Element Scaling Location
Glaceso Level 4: +1 Perfection on Critical Hit 8,713 Ice Luck/Defense Frozen Hearts
Level 10: Heal 2% of health on Critical
Level 20: Counterattacks are always Critical
Contorso Level 4: Switch to Rank S on Break 5,792 Lightning Agility/Defense Visages
Level 10: 100% chance of Critical at Rank S
Level 20: Triggers Lightning on Critical
    • Glaceso benefits from both Defense and Luck, increasing your Critical Rate and offering solid Defense. Upgrading it boosts Perfection on Critical hits and heals you a little after Criticals.
    • Contorso is more about speed, scaling with Agility, and adds cool Lightning effects when upgraded.

You can also get the Chevalam sword from the boss in the Crimson Forest if you prefer something different.

Best Attributes for Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

    Focus on Agility

The best build for Verso is to invest heavily in Agility. It boosts his speed and Defense and helps him make better use of the Rank mechanic. Speed is super important for characters like Verso, Gustave, and Sciel.

In my experience, putting some points into Vitality can also help, especially during tough late-game fights, by giving Verso extra health. While Vitality isn’t as critical for Verso as it is for characters like Lune, adding a few points can save you time and frustration, mainly if you focus on Agility.

Best Skills for Verso in Clair Obscur

Skills Focused on Critical Hits and Quick Ranking

Verso has a lot of skills you can mix and match, depending on your play style. The build I recommend is all about boosting Critical Hit chances and quickly raising his Rank from D to S.

It’s a good idea to team him up with a support character like Sciel or Monoco to keep his AP topped off, buff him, and help if his health drops too low. Maelle also works well with Verso.

    Here are some key skills:

    • Quick Strike (Rank D): Cheap and great for building up Perfection early. It doesn’t do much damage but sets you up for stronger attacks.
    • Marking Shot (Rank C): Adds damage and applies a Mark, increasing damage for subsequent hits.
    • Strike Storm (Rank C): High damage with 5 hits. Critical Hits from this deal extra Perfection.
    • Assault Zero (Rank B): Multiple hits that generate Perfection on Critical.
    • Light Holder (Rank A): Builds Rank and deals moderate Light damage.
    • Phantom Stars (Rank S): Very powerful, hits all enemies with high Light damage, can Break and Stun.

Focus on building up Perfection quickly with moves like Quick Strike and Assault Zero, then unleash Phantom Stars for maximum damage. Building Break Bar damage with timed counterattacks is crucial, especially if you coordinate with other characters like Lune.

Once the enemy’s Break Bar is full, use skills like Phantom Stars or the Gradient Strike to Break and Stun the enemy. “End Bringer” is another option at Rank A, dealing extra damage to Stunned enemies but costs 9 AP.

Best Pictos & Luminas for Verso in Clair Obscur

Increase Critical Rate with Special Pictos

You can almost double Verso’s Critical Rate by equipping certain Pictos, especially the Critical Break Pictos. These are very effective for setting up high damage Critical hits and Rank S attacks.

Pictos Effect Stat Bonus (Level 33) Crit Rate Location
Breaker +25% Break Damage Speed > 434 Crit Rate > 28% Ancient Sanctuary
Critical Break +25% Break Damage on Crits Speed 1,089 Crit Rate 19% Main quest
Charging Critical +20% Gradient Charge on crit Defense 2,361 Crit Rate 37% Renoir’s Drafts (Act 3)
Random Defense Damage randomly multiplied 50-200% N/A Crit Rate 76% when maxed Monolith – Paint Cage
    • Charging Critical boosts Gradient Charge and Defense, especially useful in late stages.
    • Breaker and Critical Break boost Break damage and Crit rate.
    • Random Defense can increase Crit Rate dramatically but adds some risk due to damage fluctuations.

    Final Tips

    • The ideal setup emphasizes Agility for speed, combined with critical-focused skills and gear.
    • Using the right Pictos can dramatically increase your chances of landing high-damage Critical hits and setting up your Rank S attacks early.
    • Teaming up with support characters ensures you keep Verso healthy and buffed, maximizing his damage output.

This build makes Verso a formidable force, capable of quick kills and heavy damage — perfect for tackling the toughest challenges in Clair Obscur.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – Complete Map & Guide for Putrified Ducts

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Complete Map & Guide for Putrified Ducts

Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Putrified Ducts are a helpful area to explore in Stage 2, but they can be hard to find and tricky to get through. You’ll probably come across a convenient entrance to the ducts early on, but until you get the Faydown Cloak and double jump abilities, it won’t be very useful.

To fully access the Putrified Ducts, you need to unlock double jump by climbing Mount Fay before returning to the Choral Chambers. Alternatively, you can enter through Bilewater, but you won’t be able to explore the entire area, and you’ll need to fight Groal the Great along the way.

How to Reach the Putrified Ducts:

Start by jumping up from the long eastern hallway of the Choral Chambers. You can quickly get here from the benches in either the Cogwork Core or Songclave. Break the vines at the top to enter the Memorium area. Immediately go right and rest at a bench.

From the bench, go left to rest again. Then, attack and break the vines on the wall to your right to continue moving right. You’ll face a big enemy here, but you can jump over it and keep going. You’ll see a model of the citadel, where you can spend 70 rosaries to buy a map of the area.

This room seems to have no other exit, but the frayed curtains hanging from the ceiling on the right hide a way out. Double jump up behind the curtains to reach a balcony. Jump off and run across the bridge. You’ll need to do some tricky double jumps to climb the wall here. Once you get the hang of it, you can reach the top, break the wall, and find a tunnel leading into the Putrified Ducts.

Map and Guide to the Putrified Ducts:

Inside the Ducts, you’ll find a long, hazard-filled chamber. Cross it to reach a Bellway station and a bench on your right. The bench costs 60 rosaries, and the Bellway station costs 80.

Go back to the left, drop down, and exit on the left side. Continue to the end of the passage. A vine monster will drag you up to the next level. Move right to find the map of the Putrified Ducts.

Another bench can be found by going downward, breaking some walls, and exiting to the left again. At the bottom of this large chamber, you’ll find a home with the Huntress. She offers a quest to earn the Longclaw tool and provides a makeshift bench to rest.

Your next goal should be obtaining the Apostate Key, which unlocks certain parts of the Slab. Exit the Huntress’s home and head to the upper left corner of the chamber (you may need to move right first to climb up). You can pick up the key there.

    Main Highlights in the Ducts:

    • Fleatopia: Located further right in the Pale Lake area of the Ducts, Fleatopia is where the Flea Caravan moves to. It’s important if you’re working on flea quests. You need to return 20 fleas for the caravan to move here, and once you find all 30 fleas in the game, you unlock the Flea Games with extra rewards.

    • Vog the Vendor: At the top of the Ducts, marked on the map, you’ll find Vog. He sells maps of lost fleas, which makes completing flea quests much easier.

    • Late-game Content: After unlocking Act 3, you can use the Silk Soar ability to reach an area above Pale Lake, where you can start the Passing of the Age quest.

Exploring the Putrified Ducts thoroughly will reward you with items like Craftmetal, rosaries, and other resources. Be prepared for tough enemies and environmental hazards, and don’t miss the Wreath of Purity — a tool useful in swampy areas for dealing with Muckmaggots, found in a room to the right above the central chamber.

Once you have the Faydown Cloak, it’s worth visiting the Ducts at least to get the Longclaw tool and the Apostate Key. It’s easy to skip over this area in your run, but completing it is essential for a full experience in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – Shakra’s ‘Trail’s End’ Quest & Boss Battle

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Shakra’s ‘Trail’s End’ Quest & Boss Battle

In the game Hollow Knight: Silksong, the world of Pharloom is full of hidden levels and encounters, but some of the best are easy to overlook. There’s been a lot of talk about what exactly starts certain quests in Silksong because each playthrough can vary a lot. One of the most confusing quests is Shakra’s “Trail’s End.”

This quest acts like a traditional NPC search, kind of like the courier brothers or the Songclave merchant. It involves finding both Shakra and the master she’s been looking for throughout the story. However, there are several requirements you need to meet before you can even begin the quest, especially if you want to face Shakra in her secret boss fight.

All Requirements to Activate Shakra’s Quest

One of the first steps is to purchase all the maps she sells during her journey in Pharloom. If you miss her resting spot at a certain level, you can buy the maps later.

Note: You only need maps she personally sells. Maps that are found freely or obtained from Rosary machines aren’t necessary.

Here’s a list of the maps she sells and their costs:

    Map Cost
    Mosslands Map 40 Rosaries
    The Marrow Map 50 Rosaries
    Deep Docks Map 50 Rosaries
    Hunter’s March Map 70 Rosaries
    Far Fields Map 50 Rosaries
    Greymoor Map 70 Rosaries
    Bellhart Map 40 Rosaries
    Sinner’s Road Map 90 Rosaries
    Blasted Steps Map 70 Rosaries
    Wormways Map 70 Rosaries
    Bilewater Map 90 Rosaries
Sands of Karak Map 90 Rosaries
    Mount Fay Map 40 Rosaries

Beyond collecting maps, the biggest confusion concerns how many parts of the Threefold Melody you need or if defeating Groal the Great in Bilewater is necessary. From personal experience, the quest appeared only after defeating Groal once I had most of the Melody pieces in Hornet’s inventory.

If your quest hasn’t triggered yet, even with some Melody pieces, defeating Groal may help activate it.

    Moving Forward

Once you’ve met these conditions, visit the Wishboard at Bellhart to accept the quest. You’ll also need the Faydown Cloak and Cling Grip Ancestral Arts to reach the area where the “Trail’s End” quest unfolds—likely already unlocked by your progress in the story.

How to Complete Shakra’s “Trail’s End”

To start, go to the marked spot just outside the Bell Beast station in Bilewater. Here, you’ll follow Shakra’s trail. Be prepared: the area is filled with dangerous enemies and pools full of Muckmaggots. It’s a good idea to use defensive items like the Wreath of Purity or consider bypassing some hazards by arriving through Groal’s secret passage from the Putrified Ducts.

After narrowly avoiding threats and environmental hazards, you’ll reach a hidden spot beneath the Pale Lake waterfalls. There, you have a brief encounter with Shakra and play a mournful tune to mark her bittersweet farewell. Completing this part unlocks an achievement and earns you a new offensive tool.

    Defeating Shakra’s Boss Fight

Following the encounter with Shakra, head back to Bellhart and go east to Greymoor. You’ll find a wooden stake with a familiar ring, and when you strike it, Shakra appears and challenges Hornet to a duel—a fight that’s intense, fast-paced, and one of the toughest in the game.

This fight is unique because there’s no second phase. Focus on dodging her rapid attacks, which can often be parried or avoided with a quick jump or dash. Tools like the Warding Bell, Multibinder, and Injector Band are very useful here. The Magnetite Dice can also help avoid damage during the fight.

    Fighting Tips

Shakra’s moveset is straightforward but requires quick reflexes. Her ranged attacks can be dodged with jumps or dashes, and her side dash plus throw move provides opportunities for pogo attacks and dash hits. Her final move, a ground pound causing area damage, is avoidable with a dash and leaves her open for more attacks.

Since this isn’t a traditional boss fight, losing doesn’t mean you have to restart from a bench or lose progress. You can retry as often as needed. Defeating her is mainly about testing your skills, with no significant rewards aside from a good addition to your hunting log.

Overall, the “Trail’s End” quest is a fun challenge to test your reflexes and understanding of enemy patterns, making it a memorable highlight in Silksong.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – Groal the Great Boss Guide & Runback Tips

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Groal the Great Boss Guide & Runback Tips

“Hollow Knight: Silksong” has many tough areas that can test players in different ways, and Bilewater is one of the toughest because of its very dangerous environment. Luckily, once you get through Bilewater, there’s little reason to return, except for some side quests. Defeating Graol there frees you from its decayed waste.

The traps and pools of Muckmaggots in Bilewater make the challenge even more frustrating between attempts. However, finding a hidden bench can significantly cut down your retry time—more than halving it. Instead of starting from the Bell Beast fast-travel point, you can unlock this hidden bench located in one of the lower caves of Bilewater.

It’s also possible to reach Graol without getting infected by Muckroaches. But since timing is critical and the boss fight takes place in a specific area, it’s worth investing in the Wreath of Purity found in the Putrified Ducts. While it may not be useful everywhere, the extra safety it provides is helpful, especially if you have an extra tool slot available.

When preparing to fight Graol, tools that can hit multiple times, such as the Threefold Pin, Conchcutter, or Sting Shard, are very effective. Because Graol is large, these weapons allow you to hit him multiple times with each attack, making it easier to stay at a safe distance during his powerful moves.

How to Beat Graol the Great

One of the more annoying parts of fighting Graol is that you first face waves of enemies before the boss fight begins. Since you’ve likely encountered most of these enemies already, using area-of-effect tools, the Thread Storm ability, and some patience can help you finish this phase quickly.

Aside from those enemies, the fight room has hazards like the water filled with maggots and swinging spike traps. These spikes can be avoided simply by jumping over them or standing on the platforms on the sides of the room.

To defeat Graol, pay close attention to his attack cues. A common attack involves spitting explosive acid blobs that explode after a delay, but you can usually dodge these and use the wide areas of the arena to get in close and do damage when he’s vulnerable.

Using defensive tools can also help. The Warding Bell grants temporary invulnerability during healing, and the Plasmium Vial provides extra masks—both useful during this tough fight.

The biggest danger comes from Graol’s size and his inhaling attack. It’s important not to get greedy and to dash away if he stops shooting projectiles for a while. While jumping and floating away quickly is easy, it increases the risk of being sucked in for damage and missing your chance to counterattack.

Another good opportunity for damage occurs when Graol uses his spirit blast attack, which is very strong. You can avoid it by pointing it toward the ground and then jumping on your pogo to attack safely from above.

By watching for Graol’s signals before each move, avoiding the swinging spikes, and playing carefully, you can weaken Graol and escape his brutal runback faster.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – Broodfeast Quest Tips & Rewards

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Broodfeast Quest Tips & Rewards

While the side missions in Hollow Knight: Silksong provide some of the best rewards and character moments, many of them can be pretty confusing when it comes to completing the tasks. The Huntress’s “Broodfeast” quest is one of the earliest that comes to mind, mainly because it only offers vague hints on how to gather all 60 required ingredients.

To locate the Huntress initially, you’ll need the Faydown Cloak guide and access the Putrified Ducts, where her hut is located near the middle at the bottom of the area. The easiest route is through the secret entrance in the Memorium, but if you’ve already explored the Bilewater caverns, the path unlocked after defeating Groal will lead directly there.

How to Collect All Ingredients for the Broodfeast Quest

Once you’ve accepted the Broodfeast quest, you’ll need to gather several ingredients so her children can eat. Each ingredient requires killing specific enemies using certain damage types. While the enemies don’t seem to matter much, the tools you use should involve fire damage, spinning attacks, and piercing attacks.

Tip: Equipping the Architect’s Crest allows you to carry all three necessary tools simultaneously, along with its built-in shredding attacks. The Shard Pendant can also help you farm the materials needed to craft these tools.

Starting with the 15 Seared Organs, the simplest method is to use the Flintslate tool obtained in the Deep Docks to defeat enemies, though the explosive Pimpillo and Wispfire Lantern also work. Keep in mind, while the Pollip Pouch might seem like a good way to boost damage, its poison effect ruins the meat, making it unusable for the quest.

Next up are 35 Shredded Organs, which require a spinning weapon or tool like the Conchcutter from the Sands of Karak, the Delver’s Drill from the Underworks, or the Twelfth Architect’s Cogwork Wheel. You can also use the downward or charge attacks embedded in the Architect’s Crest and Beast Crest to achieve this, saving time and Shell Shards.

The last ingredients are 10 Skewered Organs. These can be easily collected by killing enemies with long-bladed piercing tools such as the Sting Shard or Longpin, with the Sting Shard being notably more effective.

Best Methods and Rewards for the Broodfeast Quest

For farming enemies needed for the quest, the area just east of Greymoor’s Halfway House is a great spot. Any area with multiple weak enemies works well. Traveling through the caverns directly to the right of the Halfway House reveals three targets, with three more just beyond a small waterway.

After collecting all 60 ingredients, returning to the Huntress will reward you with the blue slot Longclaw Tool, one of the best melee-focused tools in the game.

  • Conquering the Monster: Strategies to Overcome Challenges

Conquering the Monster: Strategies to Overcome Challenges

There are very few enemies in Dying Light: The Beast that cause as much fear as a Chimera. These are mutated zombie bosses you encounter during certain missions. Chimeras are fierce foes that use a mix of brute strength, poisonous tricks, and sneaky tactics to take you down. To succeed against these monsters, you need to plan your attack carefully.

When you defeat a Chimera boss, you earn Beast Points. This special resource lets you unlock new combat skills for Kyle Crane. These skills are linked to a special mode called Beast Mode, which you can control more as your strength grows. Unlocking certain abilities is often necessary to beat later Chimera fights.

Locations of All Chimeras in the Game

Not every mission features a Chimera boss. But the ones that do pose a tough challenge, testing what you’ve learned and how strong you’ve become. There are eight different Chimera bosses in total. Some are tanky and focus on melee attacks with lots of health and damaging strikes, while others are quick and tricky, using status effects to weaken you.

Here’s a list of each Chimera boss and the mission where you face them:

    Chimera Boss Encounter Mission Traits
The Reaper Safe Haven Slow-moving brute, melee attacks, charge strikes
The Defect Life After Life Melee attacker, large stun AoE
The Mist First Blood Ranged attacks, Toxic infliction, stun
The Behemoth A New Strain Summons others, strong melee and ranged attacks
The Toxin Toxic Relationships Ranged attacks, Toxic debuff, stays at long range
The Matriarch Requiem For A Scream Long-range attacks, summons allies
The Wraith One Flew Over The Volatile’s Nest Invisible, toxic mid-range attacks
The Colossus Buried Truths Combination of all threats: big, slow, summon, attack

    How to Beat Each Chimera

    • Use your abilities wisely: Save your special skills and resources for when they’re most needed.
    • Stock up on ammo and explosives: Many Chimera fights are easier if you have plenty of bullets and grenades.
    • Learn attack patterns: Each boss shares some moves with others. Use previous experiences to your advantage, but don’t fight them exactly the same way every time.

    Tips for Specific Bosses

    • The Reaper: It only uses melee attacks. Keep your distance to avoid its slow, powerful hits. Dodge its charge and push it into walls to stun it, then attack.
    • The Defect: Similar to The Reaper but more dangerous with a lethal slam attack. Dodge its slam move and use gas canisters to stun it.
    • The Mist: Hardest because of the fog-filled arena. Keep moving to avoid acid projectiles and try to spot her shadow or sounds to locate her. Use long-range weapons.
    • The Behemoth: Acts like a stronger version of The Reaper and The Defect combined. It summons larger groups of tougher enemies and throws rocks. Clear out the adds quickly and dodge its ranged attacks to survive.
    • The Toxin: Quick and agile; it leaps from high places and spits acid. Fight from a distance using guns, Molotovs, or other thrown weapons.
    • The Matriarch: She hides in corners and only attacks when threatened, summoning high-level helpers. Use loud noises or grenades to locate her, and keep distance from her summoned minions.
    • The Wraith: Turns invisible and stalks you. Listen closely for sounds to know where it is, then strike fast before it disappears again.
    • The Colossus: The final challenge, combining all threats. Use all your skills, weapons, and knowledge. Keep moving behind pillars for cover and attack from behind when you can to wear it down.

For each fight, having a good plan, lots of supplies, and quick reactions will help you defeat these deadly Chimera bosses. Once you overcome all of them, you’ll be ready for the next steps in your adventure, pushing closer to the goal of uncovering the game’s story.

  • Dying Light: The Beast – Complete Safe Code Guide & Combos

Dying Light: The Beast – Complete Safe Code Guide & Combos

When exploring Dying Light: The Beast, you might find some safes locked without knowing the codes to unlock them. These safes hold valuable items, like powerful gear and resources that can help you along your way. Clues about the safe combinations can often be found nearby, making it easier to figure out the right code and secure the loot.

Currently, safes are usually located in specific spots—either in areas where they naturally spawn or in places you visit during missions. Typically, exploring larger buildings or zones will lead you to at least one safe, with its contents providing key items for facing dangers in that area.

List of Safe Locations and Codes in Dying Light: The Beast

There are at least seven known safes with fixed locations, each with its unique combination code. While some safes might appear randomly, these are among the most important for the items they offer. Below is a guide to each safe, where to find it, and its code:

Safe # Location How to Find Combination Code
1 Kitchen Enter an abandoned house through a window early in the game. Use materials to open a locked kitchen door, then smash a picture of a dog on the wall to access the safe. 11-14-20
2 Infected Experiment Chamber Near research stations by the chamber. Find the safe either on or under one of the stations; the code is on a whiteboard after shining a UV light on it. 15-22-40
3 Passport Office Inside the Town Hall building, inside the Passport Office. The code matches the room numbers (e.g., 115, 116). 11-51-16
4 Last Wish Shop Inside this shop, the real safe is on a table where a birthday party was held. The code is written on a note somewhere inside. 20-07-06
5 Hydro Puzzle Area In the main office of the pumping station during a side quest. Find the code on an incident report note within the same space. 27-01-06
6 Life After Life Building In the council member’s office before facing the Chimera, in the Town Hall area. 12-25-25
7 Supermarket Outside, near a train carriage by the back offices of the supermarket. The code is on a note inside that carriage. 65-63-35

Additionally, other safes may appear during the game with clues nearby. If you’re having trouble opening safes, you can try a trick to unlock their contents without requiring the actual code:

How to Open Any Safe Without Codes

If you’re using a controller with vibration feedback enabled, there’s a hidden trick. When trying to figure out the safe code, the controller will vibrate slightly differently for certain numbers. Paying close attention to these vibrations can help you identify the correct combination.

This method adds a more immersive experience compared to Dying Light 2, where you always needed the code to open safes. Still, keep in mind that the vibrations aren’t perfect—going beyond the number “50” might also produce a different vibration, which can be mistaken as the correct code.

Opening safes without codes can make it much easier to access important gear and items. Focus your exploration around safes and nearby clues, especially in key mission areas. Collecting the codes for all safes in Dying Light: The Beast will give you an advantage against tough enemies like the Chimera and help you survive in the game’s dangerous world.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – Discovering the Plasmium Phial Tool

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Discovering the Plasmium Phial Tool

Although tools are a key part of the main gameplay in Hollow Knight: Silksong, many of the best options can be hard to find or are hidden away. Luckily, the Plasmium Phial is one tool you can get pretty early if you know where to look, and it’s definitely worth the effort to unlock it.

The only requirement to get this tool is a simple key, which you can buy from several merchants around Pharloom in limited amounts. After you have the key, go to the locked door in the Wormways, located just above the Moss Grotto and accessible by crossing the big gap above Bone Bottom.

Once inside the dark tunnels of the Wormways, head left and then move north through the winding paths to find NPC Alchemist Zylotol. Talk to him and start the “Alchemist’s Assistant” quest. Quickly equip the Needle Phial and head back down to gather the materials he needs. The paths can be confusing, but if you keep track of your location on the map and avoid taking unnecessary damage, you’ll collect the three Plasmium vials needed for one of Hornet’s most powerful tools in no time. Return the samples to Zylotol, and he will give you the tool for free. You can refill it by paying 50 Rosaries for all 20 charges.

The basics of this tool are simple: it lets you charge a temporary mask each time you use it, up to five at once. You can’t regenerate these masks through Silkbinding, but they can be very useful for surviving tough battles or speeding through certain boss fights.

The real strength of the Plasmium Phial comes from its hidden combo potential when used together with the Architect’s Crest. The Crest allows you to craft tools on the fly by binding and holding the up button, which can let you go beyond the five-mask limit.

For example, if you use the Plasmium Phial to make nine masks, Hornet will immediately overdose on the effects and remove the additional masks, replacing your original masks with Plasmium ones. These new masks will regenerate one every six seconds, but Hornet can speed up this process using Silkbind, charging one mask at a time. This technique becomes a key part of some of the most unique and effective playstyles in Silksong.

  • Silksong: Silver Bell Spots in Bellhart Tunnels – Hollow Knight

Silksong: Silver Bell Spots in Bellhart Tunnels – Hollow Knight

In Hollow Knight: Silksong, one of Hornet’s quests involves finding Silver Bells around Bellhart. Starting this quest can be tricky since the instructions tell you to explore tunnels above and below Bellhart, but you might go through a tunnel and come out the other side without finding any bells.

Unlike other quests that have set locations or require defeating enemies, this Silver Bell quest is more random. However, if you know where to look, you can find all the Silver Bells quickly—usually within minutes—and complete the quest to earn a Rosary Necklace with 120 Rosaries.

Where to Find the Bellhart Tunnels

The quest hints that you should search tunnels above and below Bellhart, both of which are easy to access:

    • Tunnels above Bellhart: Take the elevator on the right side of the town, then go upward from the area where Hornet fought Widow to reach the tunnels. Alternatively, you can enter from Shellwood, like you did earlier.

    • Tunnels below Bellhart: Find the tunnels to the right of the Bellway. Enter the Bellway station, go to the far end, and break the wall to open a tunnel. Once fully explored, these tunnels lead to The Marrow.

Where to Find All Silver Bells

You can start with either upper or lower tunnels. Going through the upper tunnels first is usually simpler—you can collect a few bells on your first run. Just fight enemies along the way; it’s normal not to find all bells right away because their locations are random. They tend to appear in hall areas where you can pick them up easily.

In the lower tunnels, be cautious. Some floors might drop out from under you, so watch out for spikes. Break any walls or ceilings you can to create more pathways and make it easier to come back later.

While exploring the lower tunnels, you can also visit the Bell Hermit, although he isn’t the friendliest NPC. You’ll find him just under the Bellway, as shown in the image above.

Once you’ve collected eight Silver Bells, return to Bellhart and complete the Wish through the Wishwall. As a reward, you’ll receive a Rosary Necklace with 120 Rosaries.

If your goal is just to get the rewards, this quest might not be necessary because you could farm enemies more quickly for Rosaries. But if you want to fulfill every wish in Hollow Knight: Silksong, completing this one is a straightforward task.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – All Ragpelts Locations for Crawbug Clearing

Hollow Knight: Silksong – All Ragpelts Locations for Crawbug Clearing

“Hollow Knight: Silksong” offers a range of Wish quests you can finish, including “Crawbug Clearing.” In this quest, you need to find special items called Ragpelts. These pelts are tricky to get because you have to defeat certain enemies to earn them. This can make the quest feel boring, but some simple tips can help you complete it faster.

The “Crawbug Clearing” quest is easy to overlook, but it’s important because it unlocks a hidden Act 3 in the game. This secret part of the story is only available through the “Silk and Soul” Wish, which you can only access after completing all the other side quests in the first two Acts.

How to Get the Crawbug Clearing Quest

Accept an Unusual Hunt from the Right Character

To start the quest, head to Bellhart and accept it from the Wishwell bulletin board. This board shows the mission you want. You can choose to accept the quest right away or start it later after you understand what it requires. The Bellhart area that has the Wishwall is pretty easy to reach during your main story. You can find it by traveling between the paths leading to Shellwood in the west and Greymoor to the east, in a spot where some characters you’ve met before might be hanging out.

Unlike some other NPC interactions, like with the Wandering Merchant, you don’t need to finish a separate side quest beforehand to unlock Creige or their Wishwall.

The goal of the “Crawbug Clearing” Wish is to collect at least 25 Ragpelts. These are dropped by Crawbugs, flying enemies that spawn in different rooms of Greymoor. However, these enemies appear randomly and don’t always drop Ragpelts, so it can be tough to reach the needed amount. The best way to farm Ragpelts is to find a spot where Crawbugs spawn often, defeat them once, then rest and come back to do it again. One of the easiest spots is near the Halfway Home, where Creige, the quest giver, is located.

Pro Tip: The top of the Halfway Home is easier to reach if you have certain tools like Hornet’s Double Jump, the Clawline Grappling Hook, or other movement gear. Going through the right exit will let you climb onto the roof of the building, where two Crawbugs always appear. Killing them will give you a steady supply of Ragpelts. You can then go back inside and repeat the process as many times as needed.

Once you collect enough Ragpelts, talk to Creige again to finish the quest. You’ll receive a Spare Crafting Kit that boosts your tools’ damage, making ranged attacks, traps, and other gear more powerful. After you return to the area later, Creige will have used the Ragpelts to build a large scarecrow, keeping Crawbugs away from the spot. No more Crawbugs will spawn there, making it a safe place to relax and keep collecting Ragpelts for this quest.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – Mastering the Faydown Cloak Double Jump

Hollow Knight: Silksong – Mastering the Faydown Cloak Double Jump

In “Hollow Knight: Silksong,” the double jump ability can totally change how you move around the map and fight enemies. But finding or unlocking this skill isn’t easy. You’ll need to progress into Act 2 before you can get it, and you’ll also need some other movement abilities first.

The double jump comes from the Faydown Cloak, a feathered upgrade that gives Hornet more lift. To get this, you first need to obtain the Clawline before heading to the Slab to access Mount Fay. After that, there’s some tricky platforming, but if you’ve made it this far, you should be able to handle it.

    How to Reach Mount Fay

If you don’t already have the Clawline, you need to get it first. Start by grabbing the White Key from the Songclave area in the Citadel. Then go down to the depths beneath the Choral Chambers to find the Clawline in the heart of Whiteward. For detailed steps, check out our Clawline location guide.

Once you have the Clawline, go to the Slab to the left of Choral Chambers. If you’ve unlocked the Bellway there, you can fast travel. Exit the Bellway to the left and look for hooks you can Clawline across to reach Mount Fay.

Tip: Make sure you have a Rosary string with 60 beads — you’ll need it to unlock a helpful bench before you get the Faydown Cloak.

At this spot, you’ll meet Shakra at a bench. Rest there and buy the map if you have enough Rosaries.

How to Climb Mount Fay & Get the Faydown Cloak

Your climbing adventure starts here. Jump onto the platforms on your left and then go right above. Outside, use your jump and Clawline to climb up some platforms and enemies. Expect to lose some health from the cold, but don’t worry — you can handle it.

At the top of the first climb, go inside to the left. Keep moving forward and use Clawline jumps to cross a cold lake. If you fall, keep trying — you might still make it across before freezing.

In the next area, find a sign for a bench. Head out the left of the sign, drop down, and break the wall to access a bench. This costs 60 Rosaries now (used to be 90), so a single Rosary string will do it. Rest up before continuing.

Climb out of this area and keep going outside. Be careful with your jumps: don’t double-tap too quickly, or you’ll float and lose height. Use your Clawline to bounce off enemies, which helps you jump higher.

Move to the right platform and float down through a spiky corridor to reach a warm spot. From there, repeat the Clawline jumping, bouncing from enemy to enemy.

Eventually, you’ll break a wall on the right to make it easier to go back to your starting point. But be cautious — you only have one more climb before reaching a bench. When you arrive above, break the wall to your left for another resting spot.

After one last climb, jump into the next area, go left over the spikes, and catch the updraft. Move quickly, or you’ll freeze. Head to the right, check the tuning mechanism, and summon the big bird using the Needolin. This will give you the Faydown Cloak.

    How Double Jump Works

Once you have the cloak, double jumping is simple: press the jump button again while you’re in the air. Holding the jump button makes you slow your fall. The Faydown Cloak will also keep you warm, which might have been more useful before the climb than afterward.

Getting the Cloak unlocks new areas and may make tough Act 2 fights easier. Before leaving Mount Fay, you can descend the left slope to meet the Mask Maker NPC. No items are given for this, but it’s worth meeting him, and later, you can take on a hard quest to deliver an item.

Although unlocking the Faydown Cloak is a challenge, it’s well worth the effort. Having it makes your journey through Mount Fay and the rest of “Silksong” a bit easier.

  • All Simple Key Locations in Hollow Knight: Silksong

All Simple Key Locations in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Simple Keys are special items in the game Hollow Knight: Silksong that open Simple Doors, helping Hornet access new areas. These locked doors usually protect important spots, which may hide treasures or be part of your quests. Some doors also serve as shortcuts across tough locations, making it helpful to open as many as you can during your adventure.

Most of the Simple Keys are obtained in two ways: either by buying them from different vendors who ask for many Rosaries, or by finding them as objects in the game world. The map can make these keys hard to locate unless you have the right tools, like a Compass, which shows Hornet’s position and helps you navigate better.

There are four Simple Keys in total: two are bought from vendors, and two are found in hidden spots on your map. Any Simple Key can unlock any Simple Door, so you don’t need to worry about saving special keys for certain doors.

Some tips for finding items include using the Compass tool, which makes finding keys and navigation much easier. The table below shows where each Simple Key is located, how much it costs, and how to get it:

Key Number Location How to Get Cost
1 Bone Bottom Buy from NPC Pebb for 500 Rosaries 500 Rosaries
2 Songclave Buy from NPC Jubilana after completing a quest 650 Rosaries
3 Sands of Karak Find it on a bench after defeating a tough enemy N/A
4 Sinner’s Road Grab it from a bench in a room with a dead body N/A

In addition to keys, you’ll encounter Simple Doors scattered across four different parts of the map. These doors don’t cost anything to open once you have the right key, but some require certain abilities like Hornet’s Double Jump or Dash to reach.

Here’s where each Simple Door is located and how to approach it:

Door Number Location How to Reach
1 Wormways Find the hallways leading into Bone Bottom; it’s the first door before the area changes.
2 High Halls Go to the room with an exit down into the Choral Chambers, then jump onto upper platforms to find the door hanging from the ceiling.
3 Deep Docks Locate the room beneath the long hallway, near the Far Fields, then leap or use float to reach the chained door.
4 Sinner’s Road Move to the center, find a cell with a trapped bug, then climb past spikes using Hornet’s float ability and open the door to their cell.

Opening these doors can unlock shortcuts, new rooms, or important quest areas, which help you progress and explore more easily. Even though there’s no special reward for opening every door, doing so makes navigating the game much less stressful, especially when heading back to tough bosses. After collecting all the Simple Keys, exploring becomes faster and more convenient, so it’s worth the effort.

  • Unlock All Endings in Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide

Unlock All Endings in Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide

Depending on what you do in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you can unlock different endings that determine the future of Hallownest. Similar to the original Hollow Knight, the ending you get depends on the quests you complete, the characters you interact with, and the goals you accomplish before the game ends.

Most of the endings are tied to completing specific tasks, encouraging thorough exploration. For example, some rare endings might require you to finish all Delivery quests or defeat every optional boss. Achieving certain endings could even mean starting a new game to see all possible outcomes, since it’s hard to unlock them all in one run.

How Many Endings Are There in Hollow Knight: Silksong?

There are five different endings in Silksong, each unlocked after defeating one of the final bosses during the game’s story acts. Each ending is associated with its own achievement or trophy, making them worth aiming for if you want to fully complete the game.

Some endings require reaching hidden content, like Act 3, especially to unlock the “True” ending. You’ll find both good and bad endings, along with some unexpected ones, such as an “Extra” ending. Please note: spoilers ahead about the endings of Silksong.

Here are the endings, along with what kind they are:

    • Weaver Queen – “Normal” Ending
    • Twisted Child – “Cursed” Ending
    • Snared Silk – “Bad” Ending
    • Sister of the Void – “True” Ending
    • Passing of the Age – “Extra” Ending

These endings share similar requirements, with slight differences. If you don’t meet the specific conditions for one ending, you’ll end up with another, and missing certain ones can prevent you from seeing special scenes or messages.

How to Unlock the Weaver Queen Ending

Defeat Grand Mother Silk and bind her at the end of Act 2 to unlock the “Normal” or Weaver Queen ending. To reach her, you need to use the Threefold Melody to open the elevator in the Cogwork Core. Then, you fight Lace again—one of the hardest bosses in Silksong. Be prepared for that fight.

Once you defeat her, choose the option to “Bind” Grand Mother Silk. This will trap her in silk along with the Citadel, and a cutscene will play as she begins transforming.

How to Unlock the Twisted Child Ending

The “Cursed” ending happens when Hornet becomes cursed by completing a side quest called “Rite of the Pollip.” You must gather Pollip Hearts, find the Twisted Bud in Bilewater, and give it to Greyroot in Shellwood. Agreeing to help Greyroot and starting the “Rite of Rebirth” wish will curse Hornet.

To see this ending, proceed through the game without curing the curse before fighting Grand Mother Silk. The curse changes Hornet’s weapon, indicating a lingering curse. You can cure Hornet later, but if you do before finishing this fight, you’ll miss the Twisted Child ending.

How to Get the Snared Silk Ending

This is generally considered the “bad” ending, but it actually opens the door to Act 3, continuing the story. To unlock it, you need to complete almost all the side quests called “Wishes” and craft a special artifact called the Needolin using specific items.

When you defeat Grand Mother Silk with the Needolin in your inventory, a new option called “Needolin” appears during the fight. Selecting this will result in the Snared Silk ending and unlock “The Abyss,” which is a hidden third act.

How to Unlock the Sister of the Void Ending

This ending is only available after completing Act 3. First, you must unlock the Snared Silk ending. Then, in Act 3, you have to complete specific objectives, defeating major bosses and reaching certain areas. The final step involves defeating The Lost Lace in the Abyss after completing a ritual and reaching deeper areas.

This ending reveals a more intense, confronting story and is the culmination of many prior steps.

How to Unlock the Passing of the Age Ending

The ultimate “Extra” ending appears in Act 3 after engaging in a special quest involving the NPC Fleamaster in the Putrified Ducts, once you reach The Abyss.

Begin by talking to Fleamaster to start the “Ecstasy of the End” wish, which involves navigating through special platforms and reaching areas filled with mushrooms. Interacting with Mister Mushroom, who appears across different locations, is part of this quest.

After completing these steps and seeing Mister Mushroom several times, talk to him at the top of the Choral Chambers, then defeat the final boss of Act 3. This ending shows a “To Be Continued” message, hinting that there’s even more story ahead.

These endings, each with unique requirements, make Silksong an enriching and replayable game. Missing some steps can lock you out of certain endings, so pay close attention to your side quests and choices as you progress!
