How to Defeat All Enemy Types in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Solving

In Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, you’ll encounter many enemies, both familiar and new, like the Dartwings and the disturbing Grievers. But as with earlier titles, enemies are more than just obstacles—they play a key role in shaping the game world.

They also function as puzzles. Since the Metroid Prime series isn’t solely focused on shooting, defeating enemies isn’t all about style; it’s about finding the most effective ways to take them down. With a wide variety of enemies and equipment available to Samus, there are many different strategies to succeed.

How Many Enemy Types Are There?

Every area in the game features its own unique enemies, such as Fury Green’s Bristlewort or Flare Pool’s Leaping Spitters. Some enemies are shared across multiple regions, like the Maintenance Tanks and Grievers. The Grievers, for example, have regional and elemental variations that look slightly different but behave similarly.

Some enemies act more like stage hazards than real threats, encouraging players to be cautious and observant rather than rushing through rooms to attack electrified enemies. Because of this, we’ve excluded these hazards from our count and focused only on enemies with distinct tactics. In total, there are 20 different enemy types. If you include all regional and elemental variants, the number increases significantly.

Note: Bosses are not included in this list, as they require their own detailed strategies.

How to Defeat Every Type of Enemy

Like past Metroid Prime games, enemy encounters are tense battles mixed with mini puzzles. Each major enemy has a unique way to be defeated. Here are some tips for handling the main foes:

Unless otherwise noted, all regional and elemental enemy variants are considered the same as their standard versions.

    Enemy How to Defeat Them
Griever These are the common enemies you’ll see. They’re quick and hard to hit, so sometimes aiming freely helps land shots better than lock-on.
Mauler Griever Found in the Great Mines. They spit acid and, in explosive variants, rush and detonate, summoning more Grievers. Freeze and destroy the explosive ones to stop explosions.
Ghaspore Summon homing spores that can be shot down normally. Hit open spores with fire, or use missiles for destruction.
Goura Ghaspore Found in the Great Mines. They summon unbreakable homing spores. To defeat them, shoot the spores back into the Goura Ghaspore to make both explode.
Shren Small flying enemies that attack in swarms. Destroy their nests using missiles or Thunder Shots. Nests also spawn new Shren before burning out.
Bristlewort Usually passive; they only attack when provoked by firing missiles at their back. Use missiles to hit their vulnerable spots.
Snow Wolf Seen once upon entering Ice Belt. Quickly defeat with Fire Shots.
Dartwing Hang from ceilings in groups; dart at Samus. Hit them with the Beam Cannon in just a couple of shots by locking on and firing rapidly.
Leaping Spitter Found near Flare Pool’s lava. Freeze them or eliminate with Vi-O-La’s homing attack.
Pyremite Also in Flare Pool, they rush in groups and try to explode. Freeze with Ice Shots and defeat to prevent detonation.
Behemoth A one-time enemy at Flare Pool. Only damage by shooting its eyes.
Maintenance Tank Common throughout the game. Lock onto their heads and aim slightly upward for extra damage—use Charged Shots.
Lamorn Turret Weighs less; take out with a single Charged Shot. Stronger ones might need two. Use Thunder Shots to stun then finish with Psychic Lasso.
Psy-bot Soldier Found mostly in Volt Forge. Use Thunder Shots for extra damage, or Ice Shots to make flying enemies fall and take big hits.
Psy-bot Shield Dodge behind them while they charge. Once you have Psychic Lasso, pull the shield off.
Psy-bot Shocker Slower enemies that unleash shockwaves constantly. Jump and attack with your best moves.
Psy-bot Teleporter Teleports frequently and shoots powerful X attacks. Track with your radar, freeze with Ice Shots, and deal damage while they’re frozen.
Psy-bot Gunner Summons orbs aiding their attacks. Take out the orbs first to slow them down, then go all out on the Gunner.
Aeronaut Found in Sol Valley. They fly and drop damaging bombs. Use homing attacks with Vi-O-La to shoot them down, then slide to finish them off.
Marauder Rollers that chase Samus across Sol Valley, often in groups. After being hit, you might outrun them, or use a sliding boost to defeat them quickly.

Some enemies in the game don’t have attack patterns or pose much of a threat, so no specialized tactics are needed. These are mostly passive foes that don’t require complex strategies to defeat.

  • How to Defeat an Arc Enemy with a Fireball Burner in Arc Raiders

How to Defeat an Arc Enemy with a Fireball Burner in Arc Raiders

Arc Raiders is known for throwing challenges that seem simple at first but become tough when you get into the action. The “What Goes Around” quest is a good example. It looks straightforward: destroy an ARC enemy with a Fireball Burner. But before you can do that, you need to find the burner, locate the right enemy, and hit it before you’re taken out.

This quest feels like a quick sidetrack but can quickly turn into a heated fight. If you’re ready to bring the heat and earn some solid rewards, here’s what you should know before starting “What Goes Around.”

How to Complete the What Goes Around Quest

In this quest, your main goal is to destroy an ARC enemy using a Fireball Burner. First, you need to get the burner itself.

How to Get a Fireball Burner

To obtain a Fireball Burner, find and defeat a Fireball ARC. These enemies drop the burner when defeated. For detailed instructions, check the Fireball ARC guide.

How to Destroy an ARC Enemy with a Fireball Burner

Once you have a burner, head to the Dam Battlegrounds. The best spots are the Control Tower or the Research & Administration Building because they have plenty of ground-based enemies and are easy to navigate.

Since flying ARCs can be tricky to hit, it’s best to focus on ground enemies like Pops or Fireballs inside buildings.

    Using the Fireball Burner

Equip the Fireball Burner in one of your quick-use slots to react fast in combat. When you see an ARC enemy approaching, wait until it gets close, then open your quick-use menu (the same button you use to heal). Toss the burner onto the ground between you and the enemy. The explosion will set off the fire, taking out the ARC. Just wait a few moments for it to finish.

    After the Enemy is Destroyed

When you take out the ARC enemy, you can then safely extract and collect your rewards. These include a Cans Backpack Attachment cosmetic, three Blaze Grenades, and two Noisemakers.

  • Complete Guide to Foes in Dead Rails

Complete Guide to Foes in Dead Rails

    Quick Links

In the Wild West adventure of Roblox’s Dead Rails, players face numerous challenges aiming to derail their progress. While single foes may seem manageable, the game compensates with large groups of adversaries, making it vital to know what lies ahead to succeed.

From Zombies to Outlaws, the railways are fraught with danger. Additionally, knowing the value of defeated foes and the triggers for their appearance is essential for your strategy.

Understanding Enemies and Ways to Combat Them

Enemies can manifest either in the open world or under specific conditions. Throughout most of your journey, you’ll mainly encounter Zombies, with occasional confrontations involving Vampires and Werewolves, as well as natural hazards like Wolves and Outlaws.

Each enemy has a distinct health pool, and after being defeated, they transform into a corpse, which can serve various purposes. Enemies will relentlessly pursue you once they spot you, tracking you even over considerable distances.

    Breakdown of Weapons

Weapons in the game are classified into two main types: melee and ranged. Ranged weapons require ammunition, which can be gathered or purchased separately, while melee weapons are ideal for close encounters and are designed to withstand wear and tear.

You’ll find numerous melee weapons scattered throughout the game, all serving the same purpose: if needed, these can protect you in dire situations. However, they only damage one opponent at a time and do not compare to the damage potential of ranged weapons.

    Tip for Combat

If enemies are trapped inside structures, you can strike them with melee weapons through walls. Just be cautious—getting too close may result in damage to yourself. Maintain a safe distance while attacking until you hear their death sound.

In contrast, we recommend securing ranged weapons early in the game, and starting with a shotgun is a solid choice. This firearm can eliminate most enemies in a single shot at close range and will serve as your primary means of defense throughout your travels.

If funds are available, consider purchasing a rifle. This weapon allows you to target enemies effectively from a distance, with the potential for a single shot kill if you aim for the head.

    Overview of Enemies

Numerous enemy types exist within the game, each differing in spawn mechanics, stats, and the best methods to defeat them.

    Standard Zombies

These common foes spawn within and around houses and towns, but not elsewhere. They are quite sluggish, making them easy to escape, and possess very low health. There’s a variant known as Banker Zombies, which can be found near banks, and defeating them grants you the vault code.

Zombies can be taken down with any firearm, and with well-timed attacks, you can eliminate them using melee weapons without taking damage, as long as you maintain a retreating position while swinging.

    Runner Zombies

Another variant is the Runner Zombie, which appears predominantly at night when they spawn around the player and the train. These zombies are noticeably faster than the standard version but still lack significant health.

When a horde pursues you, focus on these fast-moving threats. Identifiable by their distinctive appearance, firearms are crucial here, as a shotgun can eliminate them with a single hit at close range.

    Zombie Soldiers and Captain Prescott

These formidable foes spawn around Fort Constitution and nowhere else. Under the command of Captain Prescott, these Zombie Soldiers are equipped with firearms. Their damage output depends on their weapons, but they have similar health to other zombie types. They are also fast, making it vital to engage them from a distance if possible. Captain Prescott brings a high bounty for defeating him.

    Vampires

Vampires only appear during Blood Moons and around the Castle. If they spawn during a Blood Moon, they’ll vanish at dawn, but their bodies remain if killed. They inflict greater damage than standard zombies and possess the ability to teleport when far away from the player. Despite this, they aren’t especially quick, making them vulnerable if sufficiently armed.

Listen closely for the sound cue that indicates their teleportation, and remember that during a Blood Moon, staying indoors might not be safe due to the extreme darkness.

    Werewolves

Known as some of the toughest enemies in the game, Werewolves appear on Full Moons at the Castle. They can inflict severe damage and require multiple shotgun shots to defeat. With glowing red eyes, they can ambush unsuspecting players, so stick to open areas and look for those tell-tale eyes when spotting them.

    Outlaws

Outlaws are encountered throughout the desert, often in groups, and typically on horseback. Although they tend to move quickly on horseback, they are slower when on foot. Equipped with firearms, they deal significant damage, especially up close, yet they don’t have high health.

It’s wise to avoid combat when encountering Outlaws while on the train. However, if you defeat them, they may yield a substantial bounty at the Sheriff’s office.

    Wolves

Wolves spawn in packs in the desert. While they are relatively fast, they pose a minimal threat due to their low health and damage output. They can serve as fuel for the train, but if possible, it’s best to avoid engaging them unless in dire situations.

By understanding your enemies and their strengths, you can better navigate the challenges in Roblox’s Dead Rails, ensuring your survival throughout your Wild West adventure.

    Enemy Skill Materia Overview

Whether you’re up against a powerful Summon or a group of weaker foes, you’ll enjoy every moment of the action.

When it comes to Materia, the Enemy Skill Materia is present in Rebirth, but it operates quite differently from its original use in Final Fantasy 7. Despite the changes, it’s still one of the most valuable types of Materia available, offering Skills that can significantly turn the tide in battles when utilized effectively.

Last updated on February 3, 2025, by Seth Parmer: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has launched on PC, allowing players to experience it in its optimal form. This update aims to enhance the guide with clearer explanations of how the Enemy Skill Materia functions, the abilities it provides, and how to obtain them!

    Enemy Skill Materia Overview

The Enemy Skill Materia, as the name suggests, lets you employ Skills from enemies you’ve faced before. This enables you to deal substantial damage to your opponents. However, acquiring these Skills may be more complicated than you think, especially if you’re accustomed to the mechanics from the original game.

In this version, instead of waiting for an enemy to use a specific ability while the Materia is equipped, you’ll earn all Enemy Skills by participating in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. But first, you need to complete several tasks for him before you can access these Skills.

Generally, these tasks involve Assessing a certain number of enemies in specific areas, as well as defeating a Classified Foe which will unlock a Biological Intel challenge in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. Successfully completing this challenge will enhance the Enemy Skill Materia by adding a new Skill for your character to use in combat.

    5-Star Increases Magic by 5%.

How to Unlock All Enemy Skills

Before acquiring more Enemy Skills, you must first obtain the Enemy Skill Materia by completing the Biological Intel: Know Thine Enemy challenge in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. This challenge becomes available after you meet Chadley in the Grasslands Region and activate your first tower.

Upon completing this challenge, you will receive the Enemy Skill Materia alongside its starting ability, Sonic Boom. Afterward, to acquire additional Enemy Skills, you’ll need to Assess more enemies and defeat more Classified Foes before returning to Chadley to take on additional Biological Intel challenges.

The following table outlines all the Enemy Skills available through the Enemy Skill Materia, including how to acquire them and their effects in combat. While only a few Skills are obtainable in Rebirth, many of them are incredibly powerful, making the effort worthwhile.

You can check your progress in the Biological Intel challenges by opening your map (Touchpad) and navigating to the Chadley page using R2. Press R1 to view the ‘Combat Simulator’ section, where you will see your progress for all parts of Chadley’s challenges. Hovering over the Biological Intel series shows how many enemies you’ve assessed and whether you’ve defeated the required Classified Foes to unlock more challenges!

  • Mastering Helldivers 2: Illuminate Enemy Tactics and Defeats

The Illuminate, also called the Squ’ith by some and humorously referred to as “those squid jerks,” have made their intentions clear by invading Calypso and sparking chaos in the Second Galactic War in Helldivers 2. Now, it’s up to you, courageous Helldiver, to show them the universal language of freedom: sheer firepower.

Dealing with this high-tech adversary isn’t just about shooting; it requires understanding your opponent and having the right gear for the job. The Illuminate’s forces are diverse and deadly. Need a hand in your battle against the Squ’ith? This guide will help you send them packing.

Understanding Every Illuminate Enemy and How to Overcome Them

Winning against the Illuminate requires solid preparation and teamwork. Equip yourself with weapons that excel in crowd control, precision firing, and breaking through shields to counter their various strategies. Here’s an in-depth look at each type of Illuminate enemy and tips on how to handle them effectively.

    Enemy Description How to Defeat
Voteless These zombie-like skirmishers attack in hordes, using their numbers and agility to overwhelm players. Use crowd-control weapons like flamethrowers or area-effect explosives. Keep your distance and position yourself in chokepoints to limit their approach.
Watcher These flying drones serve as the Illuminate’s scouts and alarm systems. Equipped with arc weapons, they’re dangerous up close, but their main threat is calling for reinforcements. Eliminate Watchers quickly using precise, high-damage weapons like sniper rifles or burst-fire guns. A well-timed shot can stop reinforcements before they overwhelm your team.
Overseer This medium infantry unit supports swarms of Voteless. Armed with specialized weaponry, they can cause significant damage while enhancing their allies’ effectiveness. Concentrate your fire to eliminate Overseers fast, then shift focus to the horde. Armor-piercing rounds or heavy weaponry are ideal for their durable armor.
Harvester A large enemy that resembles a Bile Titan, the Harvester is protected by an energy shield and carries a powerful laser weapon. First, you need to disable the Harvester’s shield by using weapons that deliver sustained energy damage. Once it’s down, focus your firepower to finish it off quickly while it’s vulnerable. An Orbital Laser can be particularly effective here.
Warp Ship This unit provides aerial support for the Illuminate and facilitates their reinforcements. The glowing-blue ships can deploy additional enemy forces, extending battles and increasing the risk of being overrun. Missiles are the best option to take out Warp Ships quickly, preventing them from dropping new enemies onto the field.
