Critics Slam Disney’s Moana Live-Action Remake Despite Praise

Disney has once again transformed one of its most acclaimed animated films into a live-action version, but the early critics’ assessments are largely unfavorable for the 2016 hit, Moana.

Dwayne Johnson returns as the demigod Maui, alongside 19-year-old Australian-Samoan newcomer Catherine Laga’aia, who stars as Moana, the daughter of a Polynesian chief.

Despite its Friday release, the new adaptation has been heavily criticized as “flat,” “boring,” and “disappointing.”

    Image of Moana live-action

However, there are some voices of praise. Owen Gleiberman of Variety commented that it “breaks free from the remake slump — in fact, it elevates above it.” He praised the film’s “beauty, humor, and fairy-tale magic,” adding that Johnson’s casting was “spot on.”

In contrast, Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian described the film as a “competent yet insignificant and dull return-to-basics live-action remake,” giving it only two stars.

He criticized Johnson’s performance as “robotic” and pointed out that CGI use was so excessive that it looked indistinguishable from animation. Bradshaw concluded that the film “feels like an unnecessary, commercially driven project.”

    Tweet about Rotten Tomatoes score

“‘MOANA’ debuts with just 32% on Rotten Tomatoes — one of the lowest scores ever for a Disney live-action remake. Read our review: https://t.co/tjRoIlRGDp” — DiscussingFilm, July 8, 2026

Critics have expressed that Johnson’s acting appears “automatic,” as if generated by artificial intelligence, while the heavy CGI work makes the film seem more like an animated piece than genuine live action.

Bradshaw summarized that the film “comes across as a superfluous, commercialized product.” Clarisse Loughrey from The Independent gave it just one star, calling it “a complete waste of everyone’s time and talent.” She questioned whether it’s acceptable to accept Dwayne Johnson’s unchanged vocal performance a decade after its original release.

    Tweet on pre-sales performance

“Pre-sales for the Moana live-action remake are underperforming more than expected. The opening weekend is projected between $45M and $60M. With a budget of around $200M, it risks becoming one of Disney’s biggest flops.” — Global Box Office, July 6, 2026

Loughrey also criticized the animation style, noting that some scenes were reportedly shot outdoors in Hawaii, not in a studio as assumed, but she couldn’t tell which.

Empire’s John Nugent described Johnson’s role as “reminiscent of an AI-generated interpretation,” and questioned the accuracy of calling it “live action,” given the heavy reliance on CGI. His two-star review called the remake “pointless,” emphasizing that the original film was a “fun, humorous, and heartfelt story with fantastic music and a fresh Polynesian perspective on the Disney princess formula.”

Many critics have echoed these sentiments, with Oli London from the Associated Press dismissing it as “heartless and ugly,” and The Telegraph suggesting it “could have been made by a ChatGPT prompt.”

Kevin Maher of The Times criticized Johnson’s age — 54 — stating he was “three decades too old” for the role and describing his performance as “inexplicably dull and subdued.” Maher labeled the film a “lazy cash grab,” lamenting that it drained the original’s lively spirit and grandeur.

Similarly, Robbie Collin from The Telegraph remarked that virtually every scene could be generated at the push of a button by typing “What if this Moana scene was remade in live action?” into an AI prompt.

Despite the widespread negative reviews, a lone positive note was struck by David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter, who called it “engaging family entertainment filled with visual interest, vibrant colors, stunning design elements, and scenic tropical locations.”

The original screenwriter Jared Bush reworked the story, while Lin-Manuel Miranda maintained his musical contributions. Hamilton’s director Thomas Kail made his feature debut with this film.

Over the past 15 years, Disney has produced more than 20 live-action remakes of its classics, with varying results. The “Little Mermaid” remake underperformed at the box office in 2023, but Disney rebounded in 2024 with “Mufasa: The Lion King.”

Last year, Disney faced a $170 million loss on its “Snow White” live-action project but recovered quickly with “Lilo & Stitch,” which grossed over $1 billion, becoming one of the year’s top performers.

  • How to Play Disney Lorcana: Solving and Completing Strategies

How to Play Disney Lorcana: Solving and Completing Strategies

Disney Lorcana has quickly become a leading trading card game, thanks in part to its unique approach to gameplay compared to Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. Its foundation is built on a beloved Disney IP, allowing for a lot of creative freedom that has resulted in some highly collectible cards.

The game is designed to be accessible for players of all ages and experience levels, making it easy for friends and family to join in, which is one of the reasons it’s so popular with us.

Updated March 6, 2026, by Niall Walsh:
It’s been a while since we last updated this guide, so we’ve refreshed it to include changes since Lorcana was released nearly three years ago.

    Reading a Lorcana Card

Lorcana cards feature various stats and abilities crucial to understanding gameplay. Knowing how to read them is essential.

    Detail Description
Cost Shows how much ink you need to play the card. Cards with a circle (Inkwell icon) can be placed into your Inkwell to be used as ink.
Name The card’s name; only four copies of the same exact name can be included in a deck.
Strength Indicates how much damage the character deals during a challenge.
Willpower How much damage the character can take before being banished.
Classifications Types that specify the card’s category, e.g., character classes, songs, or actions.
Ink Represents the card’s ‘color’; each deck is limited to two inks.
Abilities Main actions the card can do, triggered by other game actions or activated on your turn. Some are keyworded, like Evasive or Ward, working the same every time.
Lore Value The amount of lore generated when a character quests.
Set Information Details about the card’s set, such as artist, card number, and language.
Rarity Rarity level: grey (Common), white (Uncommon), bronze (Rare), silver (Super Rare), gold (Legendary).

    Building Your Deck

Your Lorcana deck needs at least 60 cards. You can only include up to four copies of any specific card by its exact name, including subtitles. For example, you can have four Mickey Mouse, Wayward Sorcerer cards and four Mickey Mouse, Brave Little Tailor cards in one deck.

Your deck is made up of three types of cards:

    • Characters: Your main force for challenging opponents and questing for lore.
    • Items: Can’t challenge but have effects and abilities.
    • Actions: Single-use cards, played for effects and then discarded. Songs are a subtype of Action and can sometimes be played for free by exerting a character with a matching cost.

Your deck can only contain cards with two different inks. Each card belongs to one of six inks, each with its own strategic flavor:

    • Amber (Yellow): Buffs and protects.
    • Amethyst (Purple): Uses abilities and actions to control the table.
    • Emerald (Green): Adaptive, effective at moving cards between zones.
    • Ruby (Red): Fast, aggressive, deals direct damage efficiently.
    • Sapphire (Blue): Focuses on playing and using items.
    • Steel (Grey): High defense, challenging to overcome with brute force.

Each ink has unique strengths suited for different strategies.

    How to Win

The game offers two main ways to win:

    1. Accumulate 20 Lore before your opponent does. This usually involves questing your characters each turn with a solid board presence.
    2. Opponent runs out of cards in their deck. If you try to draw a card but have none left, you lose immediately.

Starting the Game and Adjusting Your Hand

After both players—ideally two, but more are supported—prepare by shuffling your deck and drawing seven cards for your opening hand. If it’s your first game, you must keep this hand. Otherwise, you may choose to put any number of cards on the bottom of your deck and redraw an equal amount. You can only do this once per game.

Decide randomly who goes first. Once the game begins, proceeding with gameplay is straightforward.

    Turn Structure

Your turn is divided into two main phases: Starting and Main.

The Beginning Phase involves three steps:

    • Ready: Turn any exerted cards upright.
    • Set: Resolve any start-of-turn abilities.
    • Draw: Draw the top card unless it’s your very first turn.

The Main Phase is where most actions occur:

    • Play cards by paying ink.
    • Reveal cards from your hand into your Inkwell (face-down).
    • Activate abilities of characters and items (must have been in play since the start of the turn).
    • Quest characters for lore.
    • Challenge opponent’s characters.

There’s no formal end step; your turn ends once you’ve exhausted your options. End-of-turn effects conclude, and the turn passes to the next player.

    Timing and Priority

All actions are restricted to your turn—the game does not permit using instant-speed effects during opponents’ turns. The only exception is if a character’s ability triggers due to an opponent’s action, like a reaction to a challenge.

    Making Ink and Playing Cards

To play any card, pay the ink cost shown in the top-left corner. Instead of gathering resources, Lorcana allows you to convert cards from your hand into ink:

    • Cards with an ornate circle (Inkwell icon) can be revealed and placed face-down in your Inkwell once per turn.
    • Each ink card can be exerted to produce one ink, which pays for other cards or activates certain abilities.
    • Exerted ink cannot be challenged, but it replenishes at the start of your next Beginning phase.

Playing cards involves sacrificing ink, but with proper management, you can generate enough to perform powerful plays.

    Singing Songs

Songs are a type of action with potent effects. They can be played without paying ink if you exert a character whose cost matches the song’s required exertion level, potentially for free. Maintaining diverse ink costs on your board ensures you can always play the songs you want for maximum advantage.

    Questing

Questing is mainly how you generate lore. Each exerted character produces lore equal to its Lore Value, moving closer to victory. Characters can only be exerted for one purpose—either questing, challenging, or using a special ability that requires exerting—per turn.

Some characters have unique abilities related to questing, such as reducing the cost of items or reordering cards in your deck, adding strategic depth.

    Challenging

Instead of attacking directly, challenges in Lorcana are used to keep exerted characters in check:

    • You can challenge only exerted characters.
    • Your challenge must be initiated during your main phase.
    • To challenge, exert one of your characters; both involved characters deal damage equal to their Strength.
    • If a character’s damage exceeds its Willpower, it is banished (discarded) and removed from the game.
    • Damage remains across turns—meaning you can chip away over time, but beware that your heavy hitters may accumulate damage and be banished.

Characters can only challenge once per turn, but multiple characters can challenge the same exerted character if needed.

All Confirmed Wilds Unknown Disney Lorcana Products for Completing and Solving

Winterspell is now behind us, and we’re moving quickly toward the upcoming Disney Lorcana set, Wilds Unknown. Although there isn’t much detail about the story yet, a short teaser on the set’s website and some card previews have already sparked our excitement.

We’ll take a closer look at the confirmed products that will be released with the set as they’re announced, especially since prerelease packs are finally arriving and seem to offer good value.

Wilds Unknown is scheduled to be released on May 15, 2026. The prerelease event will happen a week earlier, on May 8, 2026.

    Confirmed Wilds Unknown Products

    Prerelease Pack

Prerelease packs are finally arriving in Lorcana after being announced last November. They will be available one week before the full product launch. Ravensburger has confirmed these packs will only be available in English.

Each prerelease pack will cost $39.99 and will include:

    • Six booster packs
    • One of six different promo cards
    • A cardboard deck box
    • Four themed dice
    • A special item unique to the set
    • A rules sheet

These packs are meant to enhance your pre-launch event experience, allowing you to play sealed or pack rush games without needing to buy full booster boxes early. This also helps your local game store, which won’t have to open entire booster boxes prematurely.

Prelaunch begins a week before the official release, when these packs will become available.

    Booster Box

The classic booster box for Lorcana will contain 24 booster packs. The estimated retail price for a box is $143.76, based on previous launches. Keep in mind, individual booster packs are priced at $5.99 each, so the box price reflects the cost of buying 24 packs.

Stores and online sellers can set their own prices, which may be higher or lower than this suggested retail price. Preorders and special bundles can sometimes offer better deals, and leftover stock from older sets might be available at discounted prices if you shop smart.

The prerelease will also make it easier for players to enjoy sealed and pack rush games, as stores won’t need to open full booster boxes early. Plus, players will get some bonus items to justify the entry fee.

    Illumineer’s Trove

The last confirmed product for Wilds Unknown is the Illumineer’s Trove, which is Lorcana’s version of a booster bundle. It includes:

    • Eight booster packs
    • A card storage box
    • Two deck boxes
    • Fifteen damage counters
    • A player guide

While contents may change for future sets, previous releases have included these items, so it’s likely Wilds Unknown’s Trove will follow suit.

This product is priced at $49.99 and offers great value. Typically, eight booster packs cost around $40, so the $10 difference covers storage, deck boxes, and damage counters. It’s a convenient way to store cards and get a good chunk of booster packs all in one package.

  • Not a Romantic? Top Disney Films Focused on Completing and Solving Adventures

When you think of Disney movies, fairy tales and romance probably come to mind. But if you’re not in the mood for a love story, there are plenty of Disney films that focus on different themes and relationships. These movies are often uplifting and fun, perfect for when you want something light, although some may bring tears to your eyes.

    10. Oliver & Company
Oliver & Company is one of Disney’s underrated animated films, but it’s a great watch. It’s based on the classic story Oliver Twist, but with a twist: Oliver is a ginger kitten living in New York City, and Dodger is a clever Jack Russell terrier. The story follows Oliver, who is orphaned and looking for a home. He joins a gang of street-smart dogs and later gets taken in by a young girl during a heist. The movie is about found family and discovering where you truly belong.

    9. The Jungle Book
Based on Rudyard Kipling’s stories, The Jungle Book tells the story of Mowgli, a boy raised in the jungle by a black panther named Bagheera and a bear named Baloo. When a Bengal tiger named Shere Khan returns, Bagheera realizes Mowgli is in danger. Mowgli wants to stay in the jungle with his friends, even though Bagheera tries to bring him to the human village. The film shows the challenges of growing up and understanding what you want versus what you need.

    8. Pinocchio
Pinocchio is one of Disney’s earliest animated movies, released in 1940, and it was the first animated film to win an Academy Award. Narrated by Jiminy Cricket, it’s about Geppetto, a toy maker who carves a puppet named Pinocchio. Geppetto wishes for Pinocchio to become a real boy, and one night, his wish is granted. But before he can become human, Pinocchio must prove he’s brave, truthful, and selfless. The story highlights a touching father-son relationship and the importance of doing the right thing.

    7. Alice in Wonderland
Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s books, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland brings the fantastical world to life in vibrant colors. The story follows Alice, a girl who falls into a magical land after chasing a white rabbit through a small door. In this strange world, she meets quirky characters like the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts. It’s an adventurous film full of oddities and surprises, perfect if you’re looking for something both bizarre and exciting.

    6. The Sword in the Stone
Based on T. H. White’s novel, The Sword in the Stone is a lighthearted fantasy about the young King Arthur. It follows Arthur, an orphaned boy, who is mentored by the wizard Merlin. The film features a lot of humor, especially as Merlin transforms himself and Arthur into various animals to teach him lessons. It’s a fun and whimsical take on Arthur’s early years that often gets overlooked.

    5. The Emperor’s New Groove
One of Disney’s funniest movies, The Emperor’s New Groove stars Kuzco, a self-absorbed Incan emperor. Kuzco plans to build a summer palace that will destroy a village, but when a scheme to assassinate him goes wrong, he’s turned into a llama. He then teams up with Pacha, a village leader, to regain his throne. While humor is the focus, Kuzco’s character growth and the lovable cast make this film enjoyable.

    4. Meet the Robinsons
Meet the Robinsons is a heartfelt story about family and belonging. Lewis, an orphan, dreams of being adopted but can’t find a family. Instead, he invents a device called the “Memory Scanner,” hoping it will help him find his birthmother. Along the way, he meets Wilbur Robinson, a boy from the future, who takes him to 2037. There, Lewis meets Wilbur’s quirky family and gets a glimpse of his own bright future with his adoptive family.

    3. Big Hero 6
Set in the futuristic city of San Fransokyo, Big Hero 6 follows Hiro Hamada, a young robotics genius. After his older brother Tadashi dies in a fire, Hiro is devastated. With the help of a healthcare robot named Baymax and new friends from Tadashi’s tech university, Hiro copes with his grief while fighting a villain called Yokai. The film explores themes of loss, friendship, and healing.

    2. Treasure Planet
Treasure Planet stands out because it doesn’t focus on romance and is one of Disney’s few non-musical animated movies. It’s a sci-fi version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Jim Hawkins, a boy longing for adventure and haunted by his father’s absence, finds a map to Treasure Planet. He joins the crew of the RLS Legacy, forming a close bond with John Silver, a cyborg. Their father-son relationship is central to the story. Although there’s some romantic interest between Captain Amelia and Doppler, it’s not the main focus.

    1. Moana
Moana follows a brave Polynesian girl living on the island of Motunui. Her people worship the goddess Te Fiti, but her heart was stolen by the demigod Maui, allowing a volcanic demon named Te Kā to take her place in the ocean. Moana’s connection to the sea leads her to embark on a journey across the water to find Maui, return the heart, and restore peace. The film highlights culture and community, with Moana growing into a confident and determined hero.

  • Jimmy Kimmel Returns as ABC Ends Suspension After Political Controversy

Jimmy Kimmel Returns as ABC Ends Suspension After Political Controversy

Digital Phablet – Jimmy Kimmel Is Making a Comeback

ABC announced on Monday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to the airwaves on Tuesday, ending the recent suspension that lasted nearly a week.

The Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, explained in a statement, “Last Wednesday, we halted production of the show to prevent further escalation during a highly emotional period for our nation.”

They added, “We made this decision because some comments were deemed hurtful and inappropriate for the timing.” The statement further noted that, after extensive discussions with Kimmel, the network decided to resume the show on Tuesday.

Some ABC stations had opted not to air “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last week, and Disney did not clarify whether all affiliates would broadcast the show on its return.

Last week, Kimmel was suspended indefinitely after a top Trump regulator and several conservatives accused him of disseminating false information regarding the political beliefs of the individual suspected of killing right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.

This suspension quickly ignited a debate on free speech in the United States.

Following Brendan Carr’s comments on a podcastclaiming that Kimmel’s remarks were part of a deliberate attempt to deceive Americans, ABC swiftly withdrew the show. Carr indicated that regulatory agencies might pursue remedies to address the situation.

In a conversation with host Benny Johnson, Carr suggested, “We have options, and it’s the hard way or the easy way.”

Initially, Kimmel had planned to address the controversy in his Wednesday monologue, but Disney executives, including CEO Robert A. Iger and Head of Television Dana Walden, decided against airing it, believing it could worsen the situation.

Despite the network’s decision, the situation remains complex, with ongoing negotiations about the show’s future. Notably, some major networks that own numerous ABC affiliates have pledged not to air episodes of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” following Kimmel’s comments.

When asked for a response, representatives from Nexstar and Sinclair, two leading broadcasters, did not immediately comment.

The controversy began when Kimmel in his monologue referred to certain political groups and individuals, prompting accusations of inaccuracies regarding the suspect Tyler Robinson’s political stance. Robinson is believed to have shot a police officer, and while prosecutors say he did not agree with Charlie Kirk’s hatred, they have not specified which views he opposes. Robinson’s mother mentioned that her son had recently shifted his political views to become more supportive of LGBTQ+ rights.

In the aftermath of ABC’s suspension, several Hollywood unions representing over 400,000 workers publicly criticized the network, emphasizing concerns over free speech rights.

Despite the setbacks, discussions continue behind closed doors among Disney executives, Kimmel’s legal team, and station owners about the show’s return and content.

As the situation develops, whether “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will resume regular episodes remains uncertain, with industry figures watching closely.

  • Hulu To Join Disney+ App Fully In 2026

Hulu To Join Disney+ App Fully In 2026

Hulu’s standalone app will soon be a thing of the past. Starting next year, Hulu will be fully integrated into Disney+, offering users a streamlined streaming experience through a single platform.

This transition was revealed during Disney’s recent earnings call on Wednesday morning.

Today, Disney announced a significant step in unifying its streaming services. CEO Bob Iger and CFO Hugh Johnston shared that by merging Hulu into Disney+, they aim to create a comprehensive entertainment package. This new platform will combine top-tier brands and popular franchises, providing a mix of general entertainment, family-friendly programming, news, and leading live sports content—all accessible through one app.

Hulu will completely shift under the Disney+ banner sometime in 2026. Until then, viewers will still be able to purchase standalone subscriptions for Hulu or Disney+. After the merger, customers will carry the option to subscribe to either service separately if they choose.

The integration process has been underway for several years. Notably, in June 2025, Disney acquired NBCUniversal’s one-third stake in Hulu for about $9 billion, making Disney the full owner of Hulu.

Since spring 2024, Disney has been gradually incorporating Hulu content into Disney+. This strategy has included offering bundle plans that include both Disney+ and Hulu, making it easier for subscribers to access a broad range of programming.

Additionally, starting this fall, Hulu will replace the Star section on Disney+ internationally. Iger described Hulu as now being a “global general entertainment brand,” emphasizing its expanded reach.

Looking ahead, Disney plans to introduce improvements within the Disney+ app, including new features and a more personalized homepage, all culminating in the launch of the unified Disney+ and Hulu platform next year. Company executives believe that combining the two services will enhance the user experience, support growth in profitability, and reduce subscriber churn.

The company also announced that ESPN’s standalone streaming service will debut on August 21, priced at $29.99 per month, marking another significant move in its direct-to-consumer offerings.

Joining a scavenger hunt filled with riddles in Disney Dreamlight Valley and its various Realms is a fantastic way to pass the time and earn exciting rewards. We’re here to guide you through each clue so you can grab your ultimate prize.

Before diving into this quest, you’ll need to check off a few requirements. The riddles can be tricky, but don’t worry— with a little assistance, you’ll unlock the Cheshire Cat’s best friend reward and be able to dress like a charming character from Wonderland. Here’s everything you need to know!

How to Complete the Cheshire Cat’s Scavenger Hunt

To kick off this quest, you must reach friendship level ten with the Cheshire Cat. Additionally, you need to progress past level four with Stitch and have finished Mickey’s level ten quest. Once all of that is done, chat with the Cheshire Cat.

He has a scavenger hunt ready for you, but he won’t give away many hints. Luckily, you can ask other villagers for help deciphering the riddles to find the treasure.

    The First Clue

Your first step is to speak with Alice about kicking off the scavenger hunt. You’ll discover that the clue is on rice paper, which you can actually eat! Open your inventory and consume the paper to unlock a new memory.

The rice paper restores 25 energy!

Once you’ve unlocked the memory, you’ll see an image of the Dream Castle influenced by the Cheshire Cat. Head to that location to find your next clue.

    The Second Clue

Inside the Dream Castle on the third floor, you’ll spot a bush with spoiled milk and white roses. Bring them to Alice and discuss what they might signify.

Alice will suggest returning to where you first painted roses with her in Wonderland. Make your way to the Queen’s Maze, then head to the back area where the cards are set up for a game of croquet. Near the large heart-shaped gate, you’ll find a white rose bush.

Interact with it to activate a dried sprout. Pick up the dried sprout to create a portal.

    The Third Clue

Step through the portal to access a hidden room in the Dream Castle. Follow the trail of pink paw prints until you discover a Cheshire Catfish lying on the floor.

Take the fish and head back to the Dream Castle, where the Cheshire Cat will be waiting for you.

    The Fourth Clue

Now you have three out of four ingredients, and the Cheshire Cat will direct you to find the last one. You’ll need to travel to the Glade of Trust to collect the final ingredient: Coffee Bean.

If you’ve already stocked up on coffee beans, simply grab one to start cooking.

Where to Find the Cheshire Chest

Make your way to the nearest cooking station and combine the Coffee Bean, Cheshire Catfish, Dried Sprout, and Spoiled Milk to prepare the Cheshire Cat Concoction. Deliver it to the Cheshire Cat, then use it to enchant your Royal Fishing Rod.

Next, head to the Frosted Heights and look for golden bubbles. Cast your line to fish out the Cheshire Chest, then bring it back to the Cheshire Cat for a hint about its contents.

The chest holds your reward: open it to receive the Cheshire Cat Jacket and Cheshire Cat Gloves, completing the outfit you’ve been assembling since the cat’s arrival in the Valley.

  • Completing the Hunt for Missing Furniture in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Completing the Hunt for Missing Furniture in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To truly make Disney Dreamlight Valley feel like your own, you need to befriend different villagers who offer special rewards and quests. The characters you unlock at the beginning come from a wide range of Disney and Pixar stories, bringing a mix of familiar faces to the Valley.

The Cheshire Cat is a playful character, but you’ll need to roll with his quirks if you want to achieve your goals. Right now, he’s stirred up some trouble with a few villagers, and they’re not thrilled. Assist him in straightening things out quickly to restore harmony!

How to Unlock the Furniture Fluster Friendship Quest

Before you can start this quest, you’ll need to reach friendship level two with the Cheshire Cat. Additionally, you must have the following characters unlocked so that he can carry out his playful schemes:

    • WALL-E
    • Daisy
    • Aladdin
    • Vanellope
    • Mirabel
    • Mother Gothel

Once you meet these requirements, talk to the Cheshire Cat. He’ll tell you that he’s decided to move some furniture around on his own, and it appears that none of it belongs to him. The other villagers aren’t too happy about this!

Where to Place the Cutesy Furniture

The only clue the Cheshire Cat gives is to visit the home of the “Diamond in the Rough,” which is Aladdin. Head over to his place, and you’ll find that it’s a bit of a mess. Aladdin and Jasmine’s furniture has disappeared and has been swapped out for some whimsical purple items.

Speak with Aladdin to gather the purple cutesy items, then take everything back to the Cheshire Cat. Unfortunately, he won’t be much help. You’ll have to track down the furniture’s owner yourself.

You may already have an idea of who the furniture belongs to if you recognize similar pieces.

Find Daisy Duck in the village, and visit her house to return the items. But first, you’ll need to collect three rusted pieces of furniture from inside her home.

After that, you’ll discover that the missing items should go where there are pink paw prints. Place the Tulip Vase, Vanity, and Hair Dryer in their correct spots in Daisy’s house, then talk to Daisy about who might own the rusted furniture.

Where to Place the Rusted Furniture

Daisy will suggest a few possible owners for the furniture, but if you’ve been playing for a while, you might recognize the style. Locate WALL-E in the village and discuss the situation with him.

Once you meet him at his home, return the missing furniture to its rightful place, then have another chat with him. It looks like no one else’s belongings are here, but Aladdin’s furniture is still unaccounted for.

How to Craft New Furniture for Aladdin

Head back to the Cheshire Cat to ask about the missing furniture. Apparently, he’s misplaced it entirely, and you’ll need to craft new items for Aladdin and Jasmine.

Gather the following materials to create the missing pieces:

    • Fiber (10)
    • Softwood (25)
    • Purple Rising Penstemon (3)
    • Green Rising Penstemon (3)

Go to your crafting station to create the Pretty Pillow, Intricate Chest, and Agrabah Table. Bring these items to Aladdin and place them in his house. Once you’ve set everything up, talk to him again to check that everything is in order.

Finally, return to the Cheshire Cat to finish the quest and gain additional friendship points. It seems the Cheshire Cat just wanted to stir up a little chaos out of homesickness!

  • Completing the Puzzle: Finding Cheshire Cat Paw Prints in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Completing the Puzzle: Finding Cheshire Cat Paw Prints in Disney Dreamlight Valley

With so many activities in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it’s easy to get caught up in all the excitement. Luckily, there are numerous ways to keep track of your progress and stay informed about the latest events and quests. The arrival of the Cheshire Cat adds even more fun to the Valley, and that’s definitely a plus.

This limited-time event allows you to gather brand new furniture inspired by a whimsical theme. Explore the Valley and the various Realms in the Dream Castle to discover the Cheshire Cat’s playful mess and unlock exciting rewards while you can!

The event is active from May 7, 2025, to May 20, 2025.

How to Finish the Calmer Chaos Event Duty

Your first task is to dig around the Valley. Search the main village biomes for sparkling holes in the ground. They resemble regular treasure spots but have a pink glow from within!

When you dig these up, you’ll reveal bright pink memory shards. Collecting these allows you to unlock a piece of a memory image featuring the Cheshire Cat. There will be a limited number available at any one time in the village, so stay vigilant.

Switch to furniture mode to quickly scan the Valley for the pink spots!

Once you complete the image, simply check off the duty to redeem your reward. You’ll receive the Twisting Rabbit Mirror, a decorative item for your home.

How to Finish the Clean Your Room! Event Duty

Your next task is to enter the Dream Castle and make your way to the Toy Story Realm. You’ll know it’s time for the event when you see pink paw prints all over the door. Inside the Realm, you’ll find more prints to clean up.

Using your Royal Watering Can, clean up these paw prints to earn points towards the next reward. You’ll need to clear 20 sets of paw prints to get your hands on the Rabbit Rocking Chair.

Only five sets of paw prints will appear at a time, but they will respawn regularly.

How to Finish the Jungle Bungles Event Duty

The following week, starting May 13, 2025, you’ll find even more paw prints in the Dream Castle, this time on the door to The Lion King Realm. Enter to begin hunting for those pesky pink paw prints.

You’ll need to clean 20 of these prints to earn your reward: the Rabbit Vanity. Since the Lion King Realm is a larger area than the Toy Story Realm, searching for the prints might take a bit more time, but they will respawn over time.

How to Finish the More Than a Mirage Event Duty

Finally, to earn the last reward, keep an eye on the Aladdin Realm door. Once you see pink paw prints there, enter and begin searching Agrabah for the Cheshire Cat’s markings.

Again, you’ll need to clear 20 of his mischievous markings to claim your prize. This time, you’ll receive the Rabbit Grandfather Clock, completing this year’s collection of event items.

  • How to Solve Completing the Cheshire Cat in Disney Dreamlight Valley

How to Solve Completing the Cheshire Cat in Disney Dreamlight Valley

With a vibrant cast of characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley, there’s always something to keep you entertained. The goal is to invite new villagers as you craft a perfect paradise for beloved Disney and Pixar personalities. However, adding every character to your community can be a challenge.

One tricky character is the Cheshire Cat, who prefers to follow his own rules. Getting him to settle down or act predictably can be quite the task, yet he has an important part to play in your village. We’re here to guide you on how to bring him into your community, so you can take leisurely strolls with your enigmatic feline companion.

How to Unlock the Cheshire Cat

To find the Cheshire Cat, you’ll first need to unlock the Alice in Wonderland Realm at the Dream Castle. This will require 15,000 Dreamlight, but you can’t simply walk in through the door.

Instead, you’ll have to chase a white rabbit around the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow until you fall down a rabbit hole into Wonderland.

    Wonders of Wonderland Quest

Upon entering Wonderland, you will meet Alice. Follow her through the forest, only to get separated. This is when the Cheshire Cat appears, offering guidance on how to reunite with Alice.

He’ll send you on a series of errands through the woods to find smiles hiding in the trees and gather ingredients to create More Time. Once you accomplish this, he’ll share a secret about escaping the forest so you can track down the Queen’s Maze…and hopefully find Alice too!

    The Queen’s Maze Quest

Inside the maze, keep an eye on the white rabbit as it evades the guards and follow its lead. You’ll need to pull several levers to unlock gates throughout the maze until you reach the end.

Be wary of the guards! If they spot you, you’ll be sent straight back to the beginning. Instead, look for secret paths among the hedges to make your way to the Queen of Hearts’ tea table.

    Teeny, Tiny Problems Quest

Once you’re reunited with Alice at the tea table, you’ll need to ask the Cheshire Cat for advice on how to help Alice regain her size. He’ll give you instructions to assist the other inhabitants of Wonderland, each with their own specific tasks that need completing.

Once you’ve collected all the required materials, you can create the Contrary Perfume that will help Alice grow back to her normal size. You’ll then need to use this perfume to explore the tea table and find keys for animal cages. With the keys in your possession, you can aid Alice in freeing the animals captured by the queen.

    Leaving Wonderland Quest

Before exiting Wonderland, Alice will have you tidy up after the animals and paint the white roses red so the Queen of Hearts won’t notice the mess. Afterwards, meet Alice at the forest’s entrance and talk to the Cheshire Cat about how to reveal the door back to the Valley.

Solve the mushroom puzzle and apply the Contrary Perfume to the door to navigate your way home. Once you return, build a house for Alice and welcome her to the village. She’ll then send you back to find the Cheshire Cat, who will leave a bright pink trail of footprints before vanishing completely.

    Mannequin Madness Quest

Finally, after bringing Alice into the Valley and losing track of the Cheshire Cat, head over to Scrooge’s Store. Inside, you’ll notice a lot of clutter and a cheerful mannequin in pink and purple—the Cheshire Cat’s signature colors.

Speak with Scrooge about what’s going on, then help him clean up the store. After that, turn to Alice for assistance in your investigation. Return to the store to follow the mannequin as it teleports around, leaving behind a mysterious coupon.

Collect the items that show up in Scrooge’s store with the coupon and check in with Alice to wrap up the quest.

The Cheshire Cat tends to appear at his own convenience, but for now, your quest concludes here.

That’s all you need to start the Cheshire Cat’s quests for now. More details will be unveiled on April 30, 2025, and May 7, 2025. We’ll update our guide so you can fully embrace this whimsical feline friend!

With more than 50 characters to interact with, you will be engrossed in quests and gathering all the delightful treasures the Valley has to offer.

One of these charming characters is Alice, the inquisitive girl who fell down a rabbit hole into Wonderland. We’ll guide you on how to find her and help her settle into her new home in the Valley. However, not everything unfolds as expected.

    Unlocking Alice

To unlock Alice, you’ll need to open the Realm door to Wonderland in the Dream Castle, which requires 15,000 Dreamlight. But, things take an unexpected turn.

Instead of simply walking through the door, it shrinks, and a white rabbit comes hopping out. Speak with Merlin, then chase the rabbit through the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow until you discover the rabbit hole. Grab the pocket watch the rabbit leaves behind, and slide down the hole after it!

    Wonders of Wonderland Quest

Inside the rabbit hole, you’ll encounter Alice and the Cheshire Cat. After getting disoriented in the woods, you need to find hidden smiles throughout the forest and cook up some extra time to locate your lost friends.

Next, you will wander the forest, following the Mome Raths until you arrive at the Queen’s Maze.

    The Queen’s Maze Quest

Within the Queen’s Maze, you must activate various levers to open gates leading deeper into the gardens, where Alice is waiting. You will need to evade the guards and sneak past the hedges to reach her safely.

    Teeny, Tiny Problems Quest

    Tiny Alice on a table.

Upon reaching Alice, you’ll notice she has shrunk to an incredibly small size. Instead of carrying her out, you’ll need to get a perfume recipe from the Cheshire Cat to help restore her size.

The required ingredients are scattered throughout the forest, and you’ll encounter several colorful characters along the way. Once you gather the ingredients for the perfume, you’ll assist Alice in retrieving the keys to the Queen’s animal cages to set them free.

    Leaving Wonderland Quest

After rescuing the animals, Alice will ask you to paint the roses red and tidy up the chaos left by the escaping creatures. Following this, you’ll receive guidance from the Cheshire Cat about how to reopen the door back to the village.

Once back in the village, you’ll need to build a home for Alice. This will require a significant amount of Star Coins, but once it’s complete, she can officially move in.

Solving Every Upcoming Set Announced for Disney Lorcana

    Quick Links

    • Latest Release: Archazia’s Island – March 7, 2025
    • Reign of Jafar – May 30, 2025

Disney Lorcana is a relatively new trading card game (TCG), yet it keeps growing with new sets being released regularly. Each expansion builds on the previous one, bringing in fresh characters, gameplay mechanics, and captivating stories that enhance the lore of Lorcana. The introduction of new keywords and mechanics enriches the strategic gameplay while keeping it accessible.

Though the steady release of sets adds excitement, it can be tricky to keep track of everything. This guide gathers all the announced Lorcana sets, gift boxes, and other products, along with a preview of what to expect in upcoming releases.

    Latest Release: Archazia’s Island – March 7, 2025

The seventh set, Archazia’s Island, features the Illumineers venturing into an enigmatic island after crossing the Azurite Sea. Here, they meet an ancient Illumineer and hone their skills amidst a diverse array of animals.

This set introduces new gameplay mechanics, including Dual-Ink cards, which require your deck to contain both Ink types specified on the card. Another new keyword is Vanish, which allows powerful cards to be used but banishes them if targeted by an action.

The starter decks for this set are Ruby/Sapphire and Amethyst/Steel. Fans can also look forward to an Illumineer’s Trove box and a Lilo-themed Gift Set, featuring the Lilo – Escape Artist promo card, making it a delightful follow-up to the Stitch-themed Gift Set from Azurite Sea.

    Reign of Jafar – May 30, 2025

The eighth set, Reign of Jafar, focuses on Jafar’s takeover of Archazia’s Island. As with previous sets, players face a significant threat with Jafar wielding the Hexwell Crown, ready to use his magical skills as an illusionist. Cards related to Jafar suggest that by uniting the two fragments of the Hexwell Crown, he can summon an army under his spell.

This set is expected to include more Dual-Ink cards first seen in Archazia’s Island, along with additional Illusion cards featuring the Vanish keyword due to Jafar’s sorcerer status.

Starter decks will be Amethyst/Amber and Ruby/Steel. Like Ursula’s Return, this set will also have an Illumineer Quest pack, which, although smaller than the Deep Trouble Illumineer Quest box, will provide engaging cooperative or solo challenges.

No Gift Set has been announced for this release yet, but the inclusion of a Hades-themed playmat and a focus on Hades cards makes it likely that he could emerge as the next major antagonist.

    Fabled – Q3 2025

The ninth set, Fabled, is likely themed around celebration, akin to what we saw with Shimmering Skies following Ursula’s defeat, but this time reflecting Jafar’s fall.

Specifics of this set remain under wraps, but it is expected to delve deeper into the past, including the origins of the Great Illuminary and the Curator.

Promotional material for Fabled showcases Mickey and Minnie in vintage designs on a carousel. Previous cards featuring vintage artwork, such as Mickey from Brave Little Tailor and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, hint that this set may explore Disney’s classic history. Expect potential appearances from characters in Disney’s Fables series and early short films, considering the age of titles like Brave Little Tailor from 1938.

Currently, no additional details regarding boxes or products for Fabled have been made public.

  • Unlocking Eye Stalks in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A How-To Guide

There are many creative ways to showcase your personality in Disney Dreamlight Valley, whether it’s by decorating your village or making your own clothes and furniture. Most of these creations are tracked in your collections menu, but some hidden items add an extra layer of fun to the game. One of the most exciting hidden treasures is located in the Monsters, Inc. Realm.

We’ll guide you through the steps to find and unlock this item. Completing this task is straightforward, so everyone can take part. Here’s what you need to know about locating the elusive keycard in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

    Locating the Keycard Pieces

Once you unlock the Monsters, Inc. Realm, where you can recruit Mike Wazowski and Sulley, it’s time to explore the Laugh Floor for broken keycard pieces.

You need to find three fragments:

    • On a cubicle desk. Head to the back of the Laugh Floor to collect this piece.
    • Inside a file cabinet. Open the file cabinet at the first cubicle to find this keycard fragment.
    • In a drawer. The final piece is located in the file cabinet at the third cubicle.

    Crafting the Repaired Keycard

After gathering all three pieces, exit the Realm and go to the nearest crafting station. In the crafting menu, look for the Repaired Keycard and combine the pieces to create it.

You don’t have to keep all the pieces in your inventory! They can be stored elsewhere if you collected them before.

Once you have the Repaired Keycard, return to Mike and Sulley’s Realm to use it.

Unlocking the Monster Eye Stalks Hat

Go to the Laugh Floor in the Monsters, Inc. Realm and approach the final door console in Bay F5. Use the keycard here to open a door.

The door reveals the last set of notes, saved as a memory, and a green chest. Open this chest to obtain the Monster Eye Stalks hat, which your avatar can wear.

This special item won’t be added to your clothing collection, but it will be available in your wardrobe.

  • Understanding Vanish in Disney Lorcana: A Quick Guide

Understanding Vanish in Disney Lorcana: A Quick Guide

Disney Lorcana offers some great keywords, and leveraging card synergy well can help you create a strong deck. On the other hand, poor synergy can result in a deck that struggles. For instance, the Bodyguard keyword is crucial for attracting attention and safeguarding your other cards.

That said, some keywords can complicate things. Cards with the Reckless keyword are required to challenge whenever possible, and they cannot quest. Similarly, Vanish can be difficult to navigate. If you’re curious about what it entails and how it functions, you’re in luck—this guide will clarify everything!

    Understanding Vanish

The latest expansion, Archazia’s Island, introduces a new keyword to Disney Lorcana: Vanish. This effect means that when an opponent targets this character with an action, the card is banished.

When the Vanish cards were first unveiled, they raised some questions because some players incorrectly assumed these cards would banish their opponent’s cards instead. A clearer explanation could have prevented this mix-up.

Iago from Archazia’s Island expansion in Disney Lorcana

Now, let’s clarify how Vanish works: if an opponent selects a card that has the Vanish keyword, that specific Vanish card is sent to the discard pile. Essentially, it gets removed from play.

This turns Vanish into more of a drawback. Yet, that doesn’t mean Vanish cards lack value. To date, this keyword appears solely on cards labeled under the Illusion tag, which thematically aligns—as strong illusions tend to fade away when influenced by external forces.

    Examples of Vanish Keywords

Rajah from Archazia’s Island expansion in Disney Lorcana

Another confusing part of Vanish is the wording “when an opponent chooses this character for an action.” First, it’s important to note that Vanish activates once the action effect has resolved. If the character moves to another zone before the ability is activated, Vanish will not trigger. Let’s illustrate this with examples:

The card Rajah, Ghostly Tiger possesses Vanish. If it receives three damage (its Willpower), it would ordinarily be discarded. But with Vanish, even a single point of damage from an opponent’s card will cause it to be banished right away.

Good Job from Azurite Sea expansion in Disney Lorcana

The Vanish ability activates any time the card is picked for an action, not just during an attack. For example, if your opponent plays Good Job!, which boosts the Lore of the selected character by one and chooses your Rajah, it will be banished.

However, the character must be a valid target for the action to trigger the Vanish effect. For instance, if Ring the Bell targets a damaged character for banishment, and if Rajah is undamaged, he cannot be selected, so Vanish won’t be activated.

Mother Knows Best from The First Journey set in Disney Lorcana

If an action moves a Vanish card to a different area before Vanish resolves, the effect won’t take place. For instance, if Mother Knows Best is used to return a target character to its owner’s hand, and Rajah is that target, Vanish won’t trigger because the card is no longer in play.

In summary, while Vanish cards often boast strong stats and abilities, the keyword itself presents a significant downside. Be sure to think carefully before incorporating them into your deck!
