On July 28, a major global beauty brand made its debut at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai this year, emphasizing how a century-old French cosmetics company is rapidly integrating AI into its operations and transforming innovative technology into improved beauty experiences.

The company presented its generative AI beauty advisor, 3CE GENBA, as part of an exhibit themed around AI-Powered Beauty at WAIC. Utilizing its extensive knowledge base and proprietary AI models, 3CE GENBA offers consumers personalized recommendations for products and makeup styles. Additionally, the company showcased its hairstyling Magic Mirror from the Professional Products Division, which lets users virtually try different hairstyles and effects to quickly discover the most suitable look for them.

However, the company’s AI initiatives extend beyond consumer interactions. AI is integrated throughout its product development cycle, such as its Hair Digital Twin model, built on the world’s largest hair science database. This tool simulates various hair types to accelerate formulation testing during research and development. Meanwhile, its Longevity Integrative Science platform, powered by AI Cloud, analyzes over 260 skin aging biomarkers to shift skincare from reactive to proactive solutions.

A strategic, long-term investment in AI aligns closely with the company’s core values, according to the firm’s Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. She noted that AI is a vital tool for advancing beauty technology.

Achieving effective AI integration in the beauty industry requires balancing scientific precision with creative magic, she explained. While algorithms can provide rapid results and scalability, brands and products risk losing their unique identity without a human-centric approach.
China is seen as a fertile landscape for AI-driven strategies, given its rapid technological advancements and consumers’ openness to adopting new technologies. This momentum, combined with collaboration among academia, government, and industry, is accelerating the commercialization of innovative solutions.
The company has already partnered with several leading Chinese AI developers, including ByteDance’s Volcano Engine and Alibaba Cloud, to enhance customer experiences and support content creation efforts.

Furthermore, the company’s Big Bang Beauty Tech Innovation Program, launched in China, will continue exploring new applications of AI+ technology this year in collaboration with startups and SMEs to develop groundbreaking beauty tech solutions.

The strategic move highlights a commitment to leveraging AI to redefine beauty innovation and enhance consumer engagement across markets.
