Waifu2x

Originally trained on anime images, it has matured into one of the best options for upscaling illustrations while decreasing image noise. Its strength lies in working with images that have clean, defined lines, such as anime, manga, digital artwork, game sprites, or pixel art.
In my experience, Waifu2x tends to maintain sharper, crisper edges compared to general-purpose upscalers. It also offers adjustable noise reduction, which is especially useful for cleaning up heavily compressed or pixelated images before enlarging them.
Both Upscayl and Waifu2x are tools I regularly rely on. When you’re working with photographs, starting with Upscayl is a good approach. For restoring artwork or retro game visuals, Waifu2x is often the better choice. Having both at your disposal gives you versatile AI-powered upscaling options for nearly any type of image.
