DarkViperAU, a well-known YouTuber renowned for his GTA 6 content, has become a subject of controversy after being named in a Take-Two subpoena directed at Microsoft and Discord. His Discord server, darkviperau, was mentioned on the second page of the legal document.
The creator has firmly denied any involvement in the alleged leaks. To clarify the situation, he conducted a three-hour live stream where he expressed his confusion regarding the subpoena directed at him. He stated that he has no idea why he’s being targeted and is uncertain about the basis of the legal action.
The subpoena was issued yesterday by Rockstar Games in the Southern District Court of New York as part of a DMCA investigation. It seeks any information or records related to the ‘CyberLeek’ account, believed to be the primary source behind the GTA 6 gameplay footage leaks.
Although DarkViperAU denies involvement in the leaks, he has a history of discussing GTA 6 leaks on his channel. Reports suggest that he was sharing some of this content within his Discord server, which reportedly upset Rockstar Games. Notably, he was the first to announce that the GTA 6 trailer #3 would not be released publicly; instead, extended gameplay footage was expected to be shared. At the time, no one envisioned the possibility of seeing extended GTA 6 gameplay on Netflix.
Upon inspecting his Discord server, it was found that all channels had been deleted. This seems to be a protective measure to hide any potentially incriminating information. However, since Discord typically stores data on its servers, Rockstar Games could still access the logs if needed.
It’s unfortunate because his Discord community was one of the largest in the GTA fanbase, and many members have lost their online gathering place amid this controversy.
