The latest trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 hints at intense multiplayer action and sets the stage for the upcoming PlayStation early access beta. Developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, this will be the fourth main entry in the rebooted Modern Warfare series that started in 2019.
Featuring Rick Ross’s “The Devil Is a Lie,” the trailer highlights what players can expect from the beta on PS5, scheduled from August 21 to 25, 2026. This early access is available to those who pre-order the game digitally on PlayStation 5. Afterward, starting August 28, it will open to all platform users.
During the beta, players will have access to all 12 new 6-vs-6 multiplayer maps, including the dynamic, adaptive map called Kill Block. It will also include a playable demo of the single-player campaign, specifically a mission titled Entrenched.
Modern Warfare 4’s campaign continues the storyline from 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, with familiar characters like Captain Price, Ghost, and Valeria Garza returning. The protagonist players will follow is Private Park, a soldier from South Korea.
The game’s campaign missions will be set across diverse locations such as New York City, Seoul, Paris, and Mumbai.
Multiplayer launches with 12 core maps, with additional maps slated for seasonal updates. A standout feature is Kill Block—an ever-changing, live-fire battleground where modular environments reconfigure between matches. This ensures a fresh experience every time, with hundreds of unique combat setups on a single map.
The return of the DMZ mode from Modern Warfare 2 (2022) is confirmed, offering an expansive extraction-style experience. Players can go solo or team up to complete objectives, combat intense enemies, loot special rewards, and extract.
Modern Warfare 4 is set to release on October 23, 2026, across various platforms, including PlayStation 5.
