The latest GTA 6 extended preview unveiled new details, giving players a clearer picture of upcoming gameplay and mechanics. Fans also got an up-close look at the game’s dual protagonists: Lucia and Jason. While Lucia quickly captured everyone’s affection, Jason’s character didn’t fare quite as well.
Jason is a man of few words, and many of his lines are difficult to understand without subtitles. This has become a common complaint among online communities. Several fans have expressed disappointment with the voice acting for Jason, considering it subpar compared to other characters.
On X, the account known as Havehopehut shared a blunt critique: “I’m saying it now. Jason from GTA 6 is hands down the worst protagonist in any Rockstar game. Some of the worst voice acting I’ve ever heard in a video game.”
Others have chimed in, noting that while GTA 6 looks impressive, Jason’s character feels “bland” and “boring.” Many fans are more upset about this than Rockstar’s decision to exclude a first-person mode at launch.

The reason behind Jason’s unique vocal tone remains a mystery. It might be linked to his backstory—perhaps an injury from military service—or it could simply be Rockstar’s creative choice. With GTA 6’s main storyline expected to last over 80 hours, players will likely need to adapt to Jason’s voice over time.
A user known as avoidbex also shared their thoughts on X, stating, “The voice actor for Jason in GTA 6 sounds so lifeless and boring.” Even action-packed sequences didn’t seem to change opinions about his voice acting.
Interestingly, given the gritty tone and style of Jason’s voice, many speculate he may be voiced by Roger Clark, the actor famous for voicing Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed, it does seem plausible. More details may emerge in the coming months, possibly confirming this theory.
