Three classic PlayStation titles have been remastered for PS5, with fans requesting certain features to enhance their gameplay experience. Aspyr has rolled out a new update for Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, incorporating quality-of-life improvements that make Lara Croft’s early adventures more accessible. The collection originally launched on PS5 and other platforms in 2024.

Upon release, Tomb Raider I-III received mostly favorable reviews, though some critics pointed out performance hiccups in the classic graphics mode. At that time, players using Classic Graphics Mode were capped at 30 frames per second. The PC version also experienced uneven frame pacing, and its alternative modern control scheme faced some criticism.

What bugs have been addressed in the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered update?

The latest patch from Aspyr introduces several fixes, including:

  • Brightness Slider: Players can now adjust the brightness across any level in all three games, with optimal performance in HD Graphics Mode.
  • 60 FPS in Classic Graphics Mode: Frame rate has been improved to run at 60 frames per second on consoles.
  • Pickup Highlight: Key items Lara can collect are now more visible, appearing brighter and easier to spot in HD Graphics Mode.

In addition, numerous other updates have been implemented, targeting issues with Challenge Mode, trophies, character models, weapon handling, and visual effects. The update also enhances localization, corrects mission-specific bugs, improves in-game text, and boosts overall stability and performance. Aspyr has confirmed that work is underway on Patch 4.

Looking ahead, the Lara Croft franchise seems promising, with two new AAA titles currently in development for consoles. However, release dates have been pushed back, with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis delayed until next year, and Tomb Raider: Catalyst now scheduled for 2028.
