You’re not imagining things; the quality of search results is indeed declining. Recent research from Amazon Web Services (AWS) indicates that a staggering 57% of online content is either generated by artificial intelligence or translated through AI algorithms.
The research paper, titled “A Shocking Amount of the Web is Machine Translated: Insights from Multi-Way Parallelism,” points to the widespread use of low-cost machine translation (MT) as a major factor. This method reprocesses existing content into multiple languages, which the study identifies as a significant contributor to the overwhelming volume of online material now deemed to be AI-generated. According to the researchers, “Machine-generated, multi-way parallel translations not only dominate the translated content on the web in low-resource languages where MT is prevalent, but they also make up a substantial portion of all web content available in those languages.”
The researchers also uncovered a type of selection bias in the content that is translated into multiple languages versus that which remains in a single language. “Content that is translated into multiple languages tends to be shorter, more predictable, and has a different distribution of topics compared to single-language content,” they noted.
Furthermore, the proliferation of AI-generated content, along with an increasing dependence on AI tools to alter and refine such content, could instigate a phenomenon known as model collapse. This situation is already impacting the quality of search outcomes across the web. Advanced AI models, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, rely heavily on vast amounts of training data sourced from the public web—regardless of potential copyright violations. With the internet becoming saturated with AI-generated content, which is frequently erroneous, the performance of these models could significantly deteriorate.
“The speed at which model collapse occurs can be quite surprising, and it often goes unnoticed,” warned Dr. Ilia Shumailov from the University of Oxford in an interview with Windows Central. “Initially, it primarily affects minority data sets—those that are poorly represented. Over time, this issue reduces the diversity of outputs, which might create a false impression of improved performance on majority data while masking deterioration in minority data. Model collapse can lead to significant repercussions.”
The consequences of this could be illustrated by a study in which professional linguists categorized 10,000 randomly selected English sentences from various topics. The findings displayed a “dramatic change in topic distribution” when comparing translations from two languages to those spanning eight or more languages, particularly a surge in the “conversation and opinion” category, which jumped from 22.5% to 40.1%.
This discovery underscores the selection bias present in the types of data given multiple translations—these are “substantially more inclined” to fall under the “conversation and opinion” topic.
Additionally, the study showed that “translations involving more than eight languages are significantly of lower quality (6.2 Comet Quality Estimation points lower) than those involving only two languages.” An audit of 100 of these highly multi-way translations revealed that “the vast majority” originated from content farms, producing articles deemed low quality and requiring minimal expertise or effort to generate.
This trend helps clarify why OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, continually emphasizes the necessity of unrestricted access to copyrighted materials for creating tools akin to ChatGPT, stating it is “impossible” without it.
After a long wait, Apple’s highly anticipated “It’s Glowtime” event has taken place, introducing an array of exciting products. Among these are the new iPhone 16 series, consisting of four models, the Apple Watch Series 10, and the AirPods 4. Additionally, there were minor updates shared for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and AirPods Max. Below is a concise summary of the key highlights from the event.
Apple Watch Series 10 and Updated Apple Watch Ultra 2
Apple
Incredibly, the Apple Watch has celebrated its ten-year milestone. The latest Apple Watch Series 10 features a larger screen and a more streamlined design. Its OLED display is now 40% brighter compared to previous models and is 10% thinner and lighter. To commemorate this anniversary, a sleek jet-black variant has been introduced alongside rose gold and silver aluminum options. For the first time, Series 10 offers titanium finishes in natural, slate, and gold, replacing the traditional stainless steel models.
The new watch is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, and it is powered by a new S10 chipset, which includes a 4-core Neural Engine aimed at improving performance, efficiency, and overall functionality. The Apple Watch continues to provide impressive battery life, sustaining up to 18 hours with a single charge.
Health tracking remains a prominent focus, with new features including sleep apnea detection, a significant boon for the millions affected by the condition—80% of whom are unaware they have it. This innovative capability will also be offered on the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Apple
In contrast, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is not receiving a complete overhaul but is instead getting a slight refresh with the addition of a new Black Titanium color option. The existing Natural Titanium model remains available, and an Hermès version has also been introduced this year.
Customers can now place orders for the new Apple Watches, with initial shipments anticipated to arrive on September 20.
AirPods
Apple
The latest AirPods 4 are now available and come packed with features driven by the new H2 chip. These earbuds promise enhanced bass, improved treble, and the addition of Personalized Spatial Audio, all while being housed in the smallest USB-C charging case yet.
Additionally, a new version with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) has been launched, mirroring the original design but now including noise-canceling capabilities. Features such as Transparency mode and adaptive audio have also been included.
Battery life remains strong, offering up to 30 hours when combining the earbuds and charging case. The new standard AirPods 4 retail for $129, while the ANC version is priced at $179, with pre-orders now open and shipping set for September 20.
Moreover, the upgraded AirPods Pro 2 are expected to introduce a hearing aid functionality, along with a new hearing test designed to customize the listening experience for those with hearing difficulties. The recently launched Media Assist feature is designed to enhance clarity for speech and musical instruments during calls or music playback.
Although the AirPods Max will not receive any design changes or internal upgrades, they will be available in exciting new colors, namely midnight, blue, purple, orange, and starlight, while retaining their original price of $549. USB-C charging will also be a new feature for these headphones.
Pre-orders for the new AirPods models are available now, with deliveries commencing on September 20.
iPhone 16 Series
Apple
As anticipated, Apple revealed the iPhone 16 line, which includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Much of the discussion centered around Apple Intelligence and its new capabilities.
The standard iPhone 16 models are available in five fresh colors and now feature a customizable Action Button similar to what was introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro line. Additionally, there’s a Camera Control button for enhanced photography options.
This Action Button allows quick access to a range of functions, such as instantly activating the camera or flashlight, transitioning between Ring and Silent modes, identifying music using Shazam, initiating Voice Memos, or accessing accessibility tools like Magnifier. Users can also utilize Shortcuts for an expanded array of features.
The new Camera Control button is particularly noteworthy, debuting on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. According to Apple, it is set to significantly improve the camera usage experience. This button incorporates a tactile switch for satisfying engagement, a high-precision force sensor for light press actions, and a capacitive sensor for touch-based interactions.
Designated functions for the Camera Control include quick access to the camera and starting video recordings, complemented by a new camera preview to help with shot framing and other control options. Moreover, developers can integrate Camera Control into third-party applications.
The iPhone 16 models feature a state-of-the-art A18 chipset, boasting double the machine learning capabilities and a CPU that is 30% faster and more efficient than the previous generation.
Camera enhancements are also prominent in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, featuring a new 48MP main camera that captures 24MP images through pixel binning. The 12MP telephoto lens now offers 2X zoom alongside a new ultrawide camera with autofocus.
The iPhone 16 starts at $799, with the 16 Plus at $899. They come in colors including black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine, with pre-orders beginning on September 13 and availability from September 20.
iPhone 16 Pro Max
Apple
The final announcements included the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, both showcasing larger screens measuring 6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively. The Pro Max is the most significant model to date, featuring thinner bezels for a more expansive display.
This year, a new Desert Titanium color option has been added, alongside Natural, White, and Black Titanium. Both models are powered by the new A18 Pro chipset known for improved speed and efficiency, featuring a 6-Core GPU that is 20% quicker than its predecessor, the A17 Pro, while the CPU is 15% faster with reduced power consumption.
The cameras on the Pro versions have benefited from both hardware and software upgrades. They now include a 48MP Fusion Camera, a 48MP Ultra Wide lens, and a 12MP 5X Telephoto Camera. The addition of the Camera Control button is anticipated to enhance photography significantly for users of this series.
Apple
The most exciting new camera enhancement relates to Camera Control coupled with visual intelligence. This technology allows users to gather information about surrounding objects and locations using their phone’s camera system.
For example, by pressing and holding the Camera Control, users can view a restaurant’s hours and ratings or automatically input event details from flyers into their Calendar app. This system can even identify dog breeds in the vicinity.
With Camera Control, users can also access specialized third-party tools that facilitate searches, such as finding where to purchase a specific item online.
The video capabilities of the iPhone 16 Pro series have seen significant improvements. The new 48MP Fusion camera, featuring a quad-pixel sensor and the Apple Camera Interface, can now record videos in Dolby Vision at an incredible 4K120 frames per second, marking a milestone as the highest resolution and frame rate combination ever offered on an iPhone and unparalleled among smartphones.
The enhanced 48MP Ultra Wide camera similarly boasts a quad-pixel sensor and autofocus, enabling users to capture high-resolution 48MP ProRAW and HEIF images, making it perfect for macro photography and wider shots.
The iPhone 16 Pro’s 5x Telephoto camera offers enhanced capabilities for photographing distant subjects. This feature was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it is now also included on the iPhone 16 Pro.
Pre-orders for both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max commence on Friday, with the first units shipping out on September 20. The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999, while the Pro Max begins at $1,199.
Apple Intelligence
Apple
During the “It’s Glowtime” event, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence, a new technology first revealed in June. Some features are already available to developers, with more to come. All models in the iPhone 16 lineup, as well as users of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, will be able to utilize Apple Intelligence.
Among the highlights presented was the Private Cloud Compute feature, which securely manages user data. Camera Control boasts AI-enhanced features for more effective photography.
Apple Intelligence also includes fresh tools for writing, image handling, Siri, and much more. The rollout of these features is expected to begin in the U.S. and other locations in the coming months, eventually reaching a broader audience next year. Apple Intelligence will be free and initially available in English, with plans for additional language support in the future.
What Wasn’t Announced
Notably absent from this event were any announcements regarding new Macs or iPads, which suggests that Apple may host another special event in the near future. During that expected gathering, we may see new models of the iPad and iPad mini, updates to MacBook Pro and iMac, and potentially revised versions of the Mac mini. While it’s less likely, there are also whispers of a possible fourth-generation iPhone SE reveal.
Today, Apple announced not only the new AirPods 4 but also a set of exciting updates for the existing AirPods Pro. Contrary to speculation, the updates do not include a new model, but rather enhancements focused on hearing health.
One significant improvement is the enhanced hearing protection against loud noises. This feature serves dual purposes: it allows users to enjoy their audio without being distracted, while simultaneously safeguarding their ears from potentially damaging sounds.
Recommended Videos
Perhaps the most intriguing enhancement comes from the health perspective. The AirPods Pro have subtly served as a makeshift over-the-counter hearing aid, which is now taking a more prominent role in this update.

As we welcome January 2024, the Galaxy S24 lineup has just been introduced, but there’s already buzz around next year’s anticipated Galaxy S25 collection.
Though it’s premature to delve deeply into the Galaxy S25 series, speculation is rampant. Here’s a compilation of what we know about the Samsung Galaxy S25 up to this point.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Anticipated Release Date
Historically, Samsung has rolled out its flagship S-series smartphones at the start of the year, generally between January and March.
The Galaxy S24 debut was a tad earlier than its predecessors. Without any solid hints regarding the Galaxy S25’s release, let’s analyze the past launch dates:
Galaxy S22: Announced February 9, 2022; released February 25, 2022
Galaxy S23: Announced February 1, 2023; released February 17, 2023
Galaxy S24: Announced January 17, 2024; released January 31, 2024
In light of these patterns, we speculate that the Galaxy S25 could be unveiled sometime between January and March, although we lack clear directions to confirm this.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Expected Price
Samsung has maintained relatively stable pricing for its base and Plus models within the Galaxy S family over the years. Let’s review what we’ve seen previously:
The base and Plus models have consistently been priced at $799 and $999 for the past three iterations. However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra saw a $100 increase in price compared to its predecessors, maintaining the same base storage but coming with added RAM.
We don’t expect another price hike for the Galaxy S25 lineup, but final confirmation will only come closer to the release date.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Design Concepts
The design of the Galaxy S series has not undergone substantial shifts in recent years, but the Galaxy S25 may bring notable changes.
Leaker Revengus revealed in December 2023 that Ilhwan Lee, formerly of Mercedes-Benz and now the design lead of Samsung’s MX division, is focused on refreshing the Galaxy aesthetic. This hints at considerable design modifications for the S25 moving forward.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra already began incorporating titanium elements into its build, following a trend set by Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro. It’s likely that the S25 Ultra will continue utilizing titanium, although it remains uncertain whether this will extend to the base and Plus variants.
A March 2024 report suggested Samsung is testing four different prototypes for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While these prototypes appear similar to the S24 Ultra, variations in design are present.
Among the prototypes, one shows a streamlined profile with thinner bezels; another displays a flatter frame with minimal bezels. Other variations included slightly thicker borders at the top and bottom, with some suggestions of rounded corners, which could enhance grip comfort.
Additionally, rumors suggest Samsung might drop the “Ultra” designation in favor of “Galaxy S25 Note,” reviving the Note series. This rebranding could create distinctions from the standard S25 and S25 Plus models, though it may surprise fans who preferred the simplicity of the S designations.
While little is known about the base Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus design, rumors point to a slight increase in size, with the regular S25’s display possibly measuring 6.36 inches rather than 6.2 inches.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Display Features
Details about the display of the Galaxy S25 are scarce at this time. However, trends suggest an increase in screen sizes for both the standard Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra.
According to leaker Ice Universe, the S25 Ultra might shrink slightly in overall dimensions but gain a larger screen due to thinner bezels. This report also indicates a potential increase in diagonal display size.
There’s speculation that Samsung could debut next-generation OLED displays with the Galaxy S25, featuring innovative fingerprint scanning technology that would enable activation from any portion of the screen.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Performance Insights
Samsung has predominantly utilized Qualcomm processors over the last few years, alongside its own Exynos chips in select markets. The S24 series employs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip in the U.S. and the Exynos 2400 elsewhere.
Going forward, we anticipate that the Galaxy S25 will leverage the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, set to be unveiled officially at the Snapdragon Summit in October 2024. There’s also chatter about possibly including MediaTek chips in the lineup, although details remain unclear.
Regarding RAM, the base Galaxy S25 and Plus should boast at least 8GB, while the Ultra model may receive an increase to 16GB.
With Android 15 expected to launch before the S25, we can anticipate One UI 7 running on all variants, complemented by Samsung’s commitment to a four-year software update cycle.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Camera Enhancements
Improvements in the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera setup are on the horizon. Samsung is expected to retain the 200MP primary camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Changes may include replacing the current 10MP telephoto lens with a new 50MP variant featuring 3x zoom.
Additionally, upgrades to sensors are anticipated, with leaker reports suggesting enhancements for both the ultrawide and 3x telephoto lenses.
Samsung Galaxy S25: Battery Performance
Reports suggest that Samsung is experimenting with innovative battery stacking methods usually found in electric vehicles, which could enhance energy capacity within a more compact design. Initially, it appears the S25 will maintain the 4,000mAh capacity from the S24, with the Ultra model expected to stick with a 5,000mAh battery.
While those expecting a larger battery may feel let down, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already energy efficient. If Samsung utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, users can look forward to impressive battery longevity.
Ultimate Ears (UE) has just unveiled its latest addition to the Bluetooth speaker range—the compact UE Miniroll, priced at $80. This features a very portable design and will be available in four vibrant colors: black, blue, gray, and pink. You can snag one from ultimateears.com starting September 9th.
Ultimate Ears
What distinguishes the Miniroll from larger UE speakers like the Wonderboom and Everboom, aside from its petite stature (weighing only 9.8 ounces and measuring just over 4 inches wide), is its built-in silicone strap. This design element allows you to securely attach the speaker to various items such as your clothing, backpack, or even your bike handlebars. UE notes that the strap is both removable and replaceable, accommodating tubular objects between 20mm and 35mm in diameter. However, unlike the Willen II, the Miniroll lacks a built-in microphone, so it’s not designed for calls.
Within its compact body, the Miniroll houses a 45.6mm driver complemented by a passive radiator measuring 37.75mm by 65mm for enhanced bass. Having received a review model, I can attest that the sound quality exceeds expectations, delivering a surprisingly powerful auditory experience that is both clear and rich, steering clear of the tinny sound that often afflicts smaller models.
Recommended Videos
Another standout feature of the Miniroll is its PartyUp mode, made possible through Bluetooth Auracast technology, allowing users to connect an unlimited number of Minirolls within a 131-foot Bluetooth range.
Unfortunately, Playlist mode is exclusive to the Miniroll and does not connect with other UE speakers. The Auracast broadcast it utilizes is private, allowing connections only for additional Minirolls, so you cannot transmit the audio to other Auracast-capable devices.
The charging time is approximately three hours through its USB-C port, offering around 12 hours of playback. However, keep in mind that a USB-C cable is not included in the package—it’s not provided.
Durability is another strength of the Miniroll, boasting an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. It is also drop-proof from around 4 feet. Just a heads up, though—it’s not meant for the pool. While it likely could survive a dip, unlike the Wonderboom, it doesn’t float.
If sustainability is a concern for you, the Miniroll is crafted from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester fabric and includes at least 40% recycled plastic components.

With Google gearing up for the launch of Android 15, the excitement is already shifting towards Android 16, which is anticipated to debut towards the end of next year. Recent explorations by Android Authority have unveiled some compelling insights from the Android 15 QPR1 beta.
In this beta version, the team at Android Authority found indications of a “complete redesign” for the Notifications and Quick Settings panels. This update marks a significant shift from the current interface, which has remained largely unchanged since Android 12, where Google first introduced its Material You design philosophy. This approach has provided a cohesive look and feel, particularly for the initial set of four Quick Setting tiles and the notification interface.

The findings in the Android 15 QPR1 beta show a potential new way to activate the redesigned Notifications and Quick Settings panels, thought to be part of the Android 16 rollout. This dual-interface approach seems aligned with trends adopted by other manufacturers.
Android Authority
According to Xiaomi, users generally favor having distinct panels for settings and notifications, which is why their HyperOS platform reflects this design philosophy. Subsequently, other brands like Samsung and Oppo are reportedly contemplating similar adaptations for their upcoming One UI and ColorOS updates. Android Authority notes that this trend towards change is in response to “online pushback” from consumers regarding the existing interface.
During tests of the new dual panel design, Android Authority explained that a single swipe down from the status bar brings up the Notifications panel, which now occupies only about a quarter of the display instead of the complete screen. Though Quick Settings tiles are not visible in this new dropdown, users can still see the underlying app.
Additionally, accessing the Quick Settings panel will now require pulling down the status bar with two fingers rather than the previous method. Android Authority remarks, “This is likely to be one of the most debated changes, as it demands more effort to access the Quick Settings tiles.” After pulling down on the Quick Settings panel in Android 16, users will be able to swipe left or right to view all the tiles available.
Here’s a sneak peek at what the revamped design may look like:
Demonstration of Android 16's dual interface
Although Android Authority emphasizes that these modifications to the Notifications and Quick Settings panels are not guaranteed to appear in a future public release of Android 16, the adaptations made by partners in reaction to user feedback suggest that Google should also take notice of these trends.

What should we expect at the event?
Dummy models of the iPhone 16Sonny Dickson
The 2024 iPhone lineup is anticipated to include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Unlike earlier versions, this year’s Pro models are expected to feature larger displays compared to the standard variants.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will maintain their respective screen sizes of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to expand to 6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively.
All models are likely to feature a new Action button, which debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro series last year, allowing users to customize functions beyond the traditional mute switch. Additionally, a new Capture button is expected across all four models for enhanced camera control.
We can also expect upgraded camera systems, improved charging options, new color choices, and possibly some surprises from Apple.
Andy Boxall / Digital Trends
In addition to the new iPhone models, Apple is expected to reveal the Apple Watch Series 10 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3. The Series 10 is rumored to feature a larger display and could come in ceramic for the first time in years, along with potential titanium options.
Details about the next generation of the Apple Watch Ultra are sparse, but it’s a given that both watches will be powered by new chipsets.
Riley Young / Digital Trends
Expect announcements of two new AirPods models as well: the fourth-generation AirPods and AirPods Max 2, which may bring features previously exclusive to the AirPods Pro. The last update for standard AirPods came in 2021, while the first AirPods Max debuted in 2020.
Lastly, we anticipate details on the public release dates for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, and other software updates that were previewed at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
What does ‘It’s Glowtime’ mean?
Bryan M. Wolfe / Digital Trends
Each Apple event is characterized by a unique theme and imagery that often hints at forthcoming announcements.
The “It’s Glowtime” slogan and accompanying visuals may suggest imminent color changes for both the new iPhones and Apple Watches. Additionally, this could reflect a new way Apple showcases Siri in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, where a vibrant ring appears around the interface when Siri is activated.
What about Apple Intelligence?
Apple
This year’s WWDC saw the introduction of Apple Intelligence, a new AI feature designed to enhance all devices within the Apple ecosystem.
So far, Apple has been cautious about rolling out these AI capabilities in its beta software for developers. The company has clearly stated that these features will not be part of the initial iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 releases, and it’s possible that they might not fully launch until the year’s end.
Overall, Apple Intelligence plays a crucial role in the company’s future. Thus, don’t be surprised if new AI features tailored for the upcoming devices are revealed, alongside updates on existing Apple Intelligence functionalities.
What we (probably) won’t see on Monday
Digital Trends
Historically, during fall events in 2020, 2021, and 2023, Apple conducted at least two separate showcases. If this pattern holds, it’s unlikely that new Macs will be unveiled on Monday. Instead, updates for products like the MacBook Air, Mac mini, and iMac might come in an October event.
Conversely, if Apple adheres to its strategies from 2019 and 2022, where only a single event was held in the fall, new Mac announcements could occur soon. However, given the current situation, that seems less probable.
The upcoming event on Monday promises to be intriguing. While we have a solid idea of what to expect, there may still be a few surprises in store. Stay tuned!

After spending an unanticipated lengthy duration in orbit, the Boeing Starliner spacecraft has safely returned to Earth following a three-month journey. Although it was intended to transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS), the spacecraft made its way back without any crew on board due to a thruster malfunction.
The Starliner successfully landed at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico just after midnight ET on September 7, marking the conclusion of its inaugural crewed test flight. The spacecraft’s reentry into the atmosphere proceeded as planned, and it executed a parachute-assisted landing in the desert, aided by airbags for a gentle touchdown. However, during its return, several minor thruster-related issues arose, including two of the 27 reaction control thrusters operating at higher temperatures than anticipated and one thruster in the crew module failing—though this was mitigated by a backup thruster.
The Starliner, which was launched on June 5 with NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, encountered issues with its reaction control thrusters while approaching the ISS for docking. What was meant to be an eight-day mission extended over several weeks while NASA and Boeing scrutinized the thruster problem. Ultimately, NASA opted to leave the astronauts on the space station and return the Starliner uncrewed.
“I am extremely proud of the efforts our joint team invested throughout this flight test, and we’re thrilled to witness Starliner’s safe return,” said Ken Bowersox, associate administrator of NASA’s Space Operations Mission Directorate, in a statement. “Even though returning the spacecraft without a crew was necessary, NASA and Boeing gained immense insights from Starliner in one of the most challenging environments imaginable. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Boeing as we work towards certifying Starliner for crewed missions to the space station.”
Despite this test flight, the spacecraft has yet to receive certification from NASA, meaning it hasn’t been approved for regular crew transport. NASA is currently reviewing the gathered flight data, but agency representatives noted in a press conference that a decision on whether an additional test flight is needed for certification has not yet been made.
Nasa has emphasized that despite the cautious decision to keep the astronauts on the ISS, the Starliner test flight should not be regarded as a failure. The astronauts will continue their roles as regular crew members aboard the ISS before participating in the Crew-9 mission and returning home on a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft in February 2025.
“We’re delighted to have Starliner safely back. This pivotal test flight for NASA lays the groundwork for future missions using the Starliner system,” stated Steve Stich, head of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. “There was a wealth of valuable information gathered that will contribute to our long-term success. I applaud the dedication and hard work of the entire team over the last three months.”

Universal Pictures has released the initial teaser for Wolf Man, an upcoming horror film featuring Christopher Abbott in the iconic role of the monster.
In a spine-chilling moment of the teaser, Abbott’s character’s daughter hauntingly asks, “Daddy, is that you?” just before he transforms into the Wolf Man, bringing terror upon those around him. Throughout the 70-second clip, anxious voices speculate on the identity of their unseen stalker. Although the complete form of the Wolf Man remains shrouded in mystery, hints of his transformation emerge amid the desperate cries for survival from the other characters.
Alongside Abbott, Wolf Man also features Julia Garner, Sam Jaeger, and rising star Matilda Firth.
This new take on Wolf Man serves as a reboot of the classic 1941 Universal monster film of the same name, originally starring Lon Chaney Jr. as Larry Talbot, the infamous Wolf Man. The film is part of Universal’s classic monster franchise, which includes iconic stories of Dracula, the Mummy, and Frankenstein’s monster.
Directed by Leigh Whannell, the film’s screenplay is crafted by the talented team of Whannell, Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Rebecca Angelo. Whannell is known for his collaborations with James Wan on hits like Saw and Insidious. He made his directorial debut in 2015 with Insidious: Chapter 3, and has since directed Upgrade in 2018 and The Invisible Man in 2020.
Initially, Ryan Gosling was set to portray the Wolf Man, with Derek Cianfrance on board to write and direct. However, both departed the project in 2023, although Gosling retains an executive producer credit for Whannell’s version.
Produced by Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, the film also sees Whannell, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, and Mel Turner serving as executive producers.
Wolf Man is set to premiere in theaters on January 17, 2025.

Today’s Wordle answer
No success? No need to worry — it happens! If you’re eager to keep your streak going, the answer for today’s Wordle is…
OWNER
Definition of Today’s Wordle
According to our trusted friend, ChatGPT, here’s what “owner” means:
An owner is a person or entity that has legal rights and control over a particular item, property, or business. Ownership typically grants various rights, such as the ability to use, sell, or modify the asset. Depending on the context, being an owner may also involve responsibilities such as maintaining the asset and adhering to applicable laws and regulations.
Tips for tomorrow’s Wordle
While Wordle may seem like a game of chance, several strategies can increase your chances of figuring out the answer quickly. The most crucial guess is your first. Opting for words laden with vowels like A, E, I, O, and U can set you off in the right direction.
Some effective opening words that many players recommend include “adieu,” “media,” “arise,” and “radio.” Avoid using words with repeating letters to conserve your guesses. The goal here is to identify which vowels appear in the mystery word before melding in common consonants to narrow it down.
Your second guess, particularly if your first was well-founded, should incorporate more common consonants like R, S, and T. Other great suggestions include “stern,” “irate,” and “atone.” Ensure you don’t reuse any greyed-out letters from previous guesses, as they’re not present in the target word.

How to play Connections
In Connections, you are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your goal is to categorize these words into four groups of four based on their common themes. These categories can include anything from video game series names to color shades or even restaurant chains.
It’s common for certain words to appear to belong to several groups, but there is ultimately one definitive arrangement. You can shuffle the word grid to help clarify possible connections.
The groups are color-coded for assistance: the yellow group is the easiest, while the difficulty progresses through green, blue, and purple.
Select four words and press Submit. If you’re correct, that set will be cleared from the grid, and the theme will be disclosed. However, picking incorrectly counts as a mistake, with a limit of four mistakes allowed before the game ends.

The Boeing Starliner, facing various challenges, is set to depart from the International Space Station (ISS) tonight, making its return journey to Earth without a crew onboard. Due to a thruster issue discovered during its outbound journey, extensive testing over the past months has not instilled full confidence in NASA regarding the spacecraft’s safety for carrying astronauts through the demanding re-entry process. Consequently, the astronauts previously aboard will remain on the ISS while Starliner heads home.
NASA is providing a live stream of Starliner’s departure from the ISS and its landing in New Mexico, allowing enthusiasts to follow both significant events throughout the evening and into the night.
Prior to undocking, the team in Houston’s Starliner mission control communicated with astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who are staying aboard the space station. They are slated to return to Earth via a SpaceX Crew Dragon in February of next year. “We have your backs; you can do this,” Williams reassured the flight control team. “Bring her back to Earth.”
After receiving clearance to undock, Starliner will detach from the ISS docking mechanisms while springs aboard the spacecraft will gently push it away. Once at a distance of approximately five meters, Starliner will engage its thrusters to move directly back for roughly 200 meters before positioning itself above the station.
These maneuvers will utilize the spacecraft’s forward-facing reaction control thrusters, which have been functioning properly, in contrast to the problematic rear-facing thrusters that caused issues during the test flight. The thruster activation will take approximately five minutes, allowing the spacecraft to safely distance itself from the ISS before re-entering a path to Earth.
Starliner is scheduled to land at the White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico, with touchdown anticipated around 12:03 a.m. ET. The weather conditions at the landing site are favorable for the event, and viewers can watch a live feed of the landing, with coverage starting at 10:50 p.m.
Following the news that Concord, PlayStation’s live-service hero shooter, would be discontinued merely two weeks after its release, many were left wondering about the fate of its episode in the upcoming Amazon series, Secret Level.
A production source has confirmed to Digital Phablet that the Concord episode is still on schedule to be featured in the first season of the anthology series, set to premiere on December 10. Even with the game’s current unavailability, it will gain a second chance at life through the show.
Secret Level is an animated anthology that draws inspiration from video games, recently announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Created by Tim Miller, known for the acclaimed Love, Death & Robots, the series will feature stories based on various titles such as Armored Core, Crossfire, Pac-Man, and The Outer Worlds, as well as broader brands like PlayStation and Warhammer 40,000.
The teaser trailer for Secret Level offers only a brief appearance of Concord, showcasing the freegunner Star Child around the 1:16 mark.
This announcement comes on the same day Concord officially ceased operations. Earlier this week, Firewalk Studios revealed that they would be taking the game offline to explore future options and have also promised full refunds to players. After its lackluster launch on August 23, which saw low engagement and mixed reviews, this move isn’t considered permanent, leaving room for potential reworking ahead of a future return.
Featuring in Secret Level might significantly impact the game’s visibility and reputation. Firewalk previously committed to three seasons of updates for Concord, suggesting that there are several storytelling angles that could be explored in an animated format.
