Xiaomi’s President, Lu Weibing, announced today that the company has officially launched the beta testing phase for its latest operating system, Xiaomi Surge OS 4. Instead of holding a traditional launch event, Xiaomi is opting for a user feedback-driven approach to continuously improve and refine the software. The first batch of devices eligible for the beta program was opened for enrollment at 11 a.m. this morning through the Xiaomi Community platform.
Surge OS 4 is built around two primary objectives: to enhance the core user experience and usability, and to explore the potential of a comprehensive ecosystem powered by AI. On the performance front, Xiaomi’s proprietary kernel, Xiaomi HyperCore, incorporates technologies like load measurement and memory preloading. The new environment aims to optimize resource usage in frequently used scenarios, resulting in smoother animations and a more responsive interface.
In addition to performance improvements, Surge OS 4 intensifies its focus on AI across the entire ecosystem. The update introduces “Super Xiao Ai 2.0,” which leverages upgraded AI architecture and integration with Xiaomi’s MiMo large-scale model to enhance task management and content generation capabilities. Special efforts have been made to optimize interactions across multiple applications and devices, marking a shift from merely understanding commands to actually performing tasks.
Furthermore, Xiaomi has launched the “Surge Companion Program,” which involves forming a dedicated team to closely monitor user feedback and accelerate the response process, ensuring rapid updates and improvements. This approach underscores Xiaomi’s commitment to refining its AI-driven ecosystem, all while delivering a more seamless and intuitive user experience.
