If the extended preview of GTA 6 has left you impressed with its new gameplay mechanics, stunning graphics on a base PS5, or the revamped wanted level system, chances are you’ve also been intrigued by its new minimap. But why wait over a month to experience the GTA 6 minimap when you can try it right now in GTA 5 with a new mod?
Available on the popular GTA 5 mods website, a modder released a modification on August 31, 2026, called “GTA VI Styled Minimap & HUD (Legacy).” This mod, weighing in at 157 MB, transforms the GTA 5 minimap and interface to resemble GTA 6’s design and aesthetic, giving the game a fresh, modern look.
The GTA 6-inspired minimap mod also updates the heads-up display elements around your screen to enhance the visual appeal of GTA 5 gameplay while preserving the core game features. The update includes changes to the map’s shape, border, waypoint color (pink), and other HUD components to closely match GTA 6’s interface.
Additionally, this extended preview revealed an impressive feature: a 3D minimap that displays satellite imagery of Vice City instead of a traditional flat map, adding depth and realism to the gameplay experience.
Please note, this mod is only compatible with GTA 5 on PC. To install it, simply drag the downloaded OIV file into the OpenIV tool’s window. Make sure you have OpenIV installed on your system, as it’s essential for managing GTA 5 mods.
Once OpenIV launches the package installer, select your mods folder and click “Install” to complete the process. If you’re unsure about the procedure, there are detailed guides available on how to mod GTA 5 on PC to assist you.
Keep in mind, this mod currently offers only a 2D, flat version of the GTA 6 minimap using GTA 5’s existing map system. To access the full 3D buildings and immersive features seen in GTA 6, you’ll need to download a complete GTA 6 map walkthrough mod.
