Apple has officially rolled out iOS 18, which is now ready for eligible iPhones to download at no cost via the Software Update settings.
If you're considering getting one of the new iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro models, set to launch on September 20, these will come with iOS 18 already installed.
It's important to note that not every iPhone will be compatible with this latest update, and even devices that can run it may miss out on certain advanced features labeled as “Apple Intelligence.”
This decision aligns with Apple’s ongoing strategy to phase out support for older models. For example, last year, the “iPhone 8,” “iPhone 8 Plus,” and “iPhone X” became incompatible with iOS 17, preventing their users from accessing new updates.
On a positive note, some older devices can look forward to significant updates, such as an upcoming software release that will enable existing “AirPods Pro” to function as hearing aids, thanks to recent FDA approval.
