  • Top Commander Precons for Completing and Solving in MTG

Top Commander Precons for Completing and Solving in MTG

Building a 100-card singleton deck isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, even for some of the most dedicated Magic: The Gathering players. That’s why Wizards of the Coast has been releasing pre-built Commander decks since 2011. Over the years, many of these decks have proven to be more than competitive during play, and the best part is, you don’t need to spend extra on upgrades or swap out any cards. Just shuffle and start playing!

    ### Explorers of the Deep – The Lost Caverns of Ixalan

This Merfolk deck mainly focuses on flooding the board with lands and drawing cards. The addition of explore and the +1/+1 counters triggered by Hakbal of the Surging Soul make this pre-constructed deck surprisingly strong.

    #### Commander Overview

Hakbal of the Surging Soul forces each Merfolk you control to explore at the start of combat, revealing the top card of your library. If it’s a land, it goes into your hand; if not, that Merfolk gets a +1/+1 counter. When Hakbal attacks, you can put a land from your hand onto the battlefield or draw a card instead.

    #### Strategy

Your main goal is to flood the field with lands early so you can get your Merfolk creatures out quickly. Once they’re on the battlefield, you can leverage the deck’s natural draw power to cast enchantments that boost your Merfolk. Protect Hakbal once you’ve played him, as opponents will target your commander quickly, especially if you’ve built a strong board. The win conditions include attacking with buffed Merfolk or sneaking a win with Simic Ascendancy once it hits 20 counters.

    #### Notable Cards

Key cards to watch for are Deeproot Elite, Master of the Pearl Trident, Merfolk Skydiver, Nicanzil, Current Conductor, Thieving Skydiver, Inspiring Call, Bygone Marvels, Deeproot Waters, and Hardened Scales.

    #### Value

Since this deck was released in late 2023, its total worth is about $66.48, mainly because of cards like Kindred Discovery ($9.09) and Adrix and Nev, Twincasters ($8.98). Other over-$1 cards include Evolution Sage ($2.09), Thassa, God of the Sea ($1.84), and Alandra, Sky Dreamer ($1.76), among others.

    ### Animated Army – Bloomburrow

This red-green deck focuses on unleashing huge creatures to attack your opponents. The Commander, Bello, Bard of the Brambles, can turn your enchantments and artifacts into 4/4 elementals with haste, indestructibility, and the ability to draw cards if they hit opponents.

    #### Commander Overview

Bello, a raccoon bard, transforms your non-aura enchantments and non-equipment artifacts into 4/4 indestructible elementals with haste. When these creatures deal damage, you can draw a card.

    #### Strategy

This deck is built around creating a strong board presence and attacking relentlessly. Many creatures are expensive to cast, with some costing up to 12 mana, but Bello’s ability helps reduce this cost and protect your board from wipes. You want to build up your creatures and attack as soon as possible, capitalizing on Bello to keep your threats alive longer.

    #### Notable Cards

Threatening cards include Warstorm Surge, Domri, Anarch of Bolas, Tendershoot Dryad, Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Strago and Relm, Unnatural Growth, Esika’s Chariot, Bootleggers’ Stash, and Rampaging Baloths.

    #### Value

Released in August 2024, this deck is valued around $56.74. The most expensive card is Lotus Cobra at $7.24, with others like Alchemist’s Talent ($4.12) and Greater Good ($3.99). Over $1 cards include Bello, Bard of the Brambles ($1.07), Tendershoot Dryad ($3.45), and Kodama of the East Tree ($2.51).

    —

    ### Revival Trance – Final Fantasy

This theme deck, based on Final Fantasy VI, emphasizes bringing cards back from the graveyard to attack again, making it both fun and effective. It uses a Mardu color scheme—red, black, and white—and focuses on graveyard recursion along with milling two cards each turn via Terra, Herald of Hope.

    #### Commander Overview

Terra mills two cards at the start of combat and gains flying until end of turn. When she deals combat damage, you can pay two mana to return a creature with 3 or less power from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.

    #### Strategy

Gameplay revolves around using your creatures until opponents exile them. Terra’s ability to mill cards provides opportunities to bring back key threats, especially powerful low-cost creatures like General Leo Cristophe, Sigfried, Famed Swordsman, and Gogo, Mysterious Mime. These creatures often have abilities that force opponents to target them, helping you control the board.

    #### Notable Cards

Significant threats include Kefka, Dancing Mad; Cyan, Vengeful Samurai; Stitch Together; Ruinous Ultimatum; Rise of the Dark Realms; Rejoin the Fight; and Anger.

    #### Value

As of now, the deck is valued around $78. The priciest card is Renimate at $8.95, followed by Rise of the Dark Realms at $4.38, and Gogo, Mysterious Mime at $3.49. Other over-$1 cards include The Warring Triad ($1), Anger ($1.34), Pitiless Plunderer ($2.59), and others.

Its portrayal of historical moments even drew concerns from Israel, given its implications for contemporary issues.

For her part, art critic Magda Morris remarked that several productions stood out strongly this season, including “Sahab Al-Ard” (The People of the Land), “Ras Al-Af’a” (The Snake’s Head), “Ain Sahriya” (Magic Eye), “Itneen Gheirna” (Two Others), and “Kan Yama Kan” (Once Upon a Time). She described “Sahab El Ard” as a vital piece that reintroduces unforgettable moments, resonating deeply with new generations. She emphasized that beyond its artistic value, the series carries a militant undertone, especially with the involvement of multiple Palestinian artists in its cast, which enhanced its credibility and emotional impact on viewers.

She further praised “Ras El Af’a” for its realistic depiction of security personnel’s roles and the significant efforts they undertake amid ongoing challenges. Morris highlighted how the series underscores that the battles faced by the state are ongoing, showcasing military strategies and community resilience as core facets of the narrative.

  • Top Divine Techs in RIP: Completing and Solving the Best

Top Divine Techs in RIP: Completing and Solving the Best

In RIP – Reincarnation Insurance Program, having the right weapon and gear is important, but they don’t always determine how much damage you can deal or how effective your build will be. Beyond legendary or mythic items with cool passive abilities, the Divine Techs you select are what really make your character strong or weak.

Divine Techs are upgrades you unlock each time you level up. You’re presented with three options, and luck along with your tools determines how well you can upgrade the techs you choose. While there are many options in the game, the following list highlights some of the best Divine Techs available in RIP – Reincarnation Insurance Program.

Please note: the game is currently in Early Access, so this list might change in the future.

    Plague Spread

This divine tech is rare because it’s mythic, meaning it has one of the lowest drop rates. If you already have at least one ailment upgrade, this tech can significantly boost your effects. Its spreading ability is especially useful for most ailments.

    Heavy Artillery

This is one of the best tactical skills. You select a small area, press a key, and a barrage of missiles destroys groups of enemies. It can even cause major damage to bosses if timed correctly, especially if they are stunned or frozen. The main drawback is its long cooldown, which doesn’t improve much with upgrades, but it remains valuable due to its high damage output.

    Gunship Support

Similar to Heavy Artillery, Gunship Support calls in an aerial attack that covers a decent area and deals good damage. The key benefit? You don’t need to aim or activate it manually. Its initial cooldown can be a challenge during crowded endgame moments, but upgrading can drastically reduce this timer.

    Gunship Support

    Damage Reduction Coating

If you’re playing characters like Mors or Claire with good armor, this tech might not be as necessary. But for others, it allows you to soak up hits longer. Starting with a modest 6% damage reduction, you can level it up using rerolls and bans, boosting its effectiveness over time. This tech affects all damage types—melee, projectiles, or elemental.

    Damage Reduction Coating

    Nanomedic

Having auxiliary weapons that deal damage is useful, but Nanomedic stands out because of its healing drone. When your health recovery is low and you lack perks or gear to boost healing, this drone plays a vital role in keeping you alive and resilient.

    Explosions Are Art

This mythic tech makes damage output insane once you meet certain conditions—mainly having explosive perks. It’s less likely to trigger at low levels, but with weapons like an automatic gun paired with Explosive Rounds tech, it can activate multiple times per minute, annihilating bosses and mobs alike.

Pro tip: Though the chance may seem low, high fire rate weapons with explosive perks can trigger this often, making bosses suffer heavy damage repeatedly.

    Frozen Rounds

When aiming to increase weapon damage, consider Frozen Rounds. This tech makes each shot apply Chill stacks, which can freeze enemies for a few seconds once enough stacks accumulate. The benefit here is versatility: you can freeze all enemy types, including bosses. Freezing a boss in place provides both a strategic advantage and damage opportunity, making this one of the best ailment effects.

    Rapid-Fire Protocol

Firing many bullets quickly can greatly enhance your damage, especially for characters whose weapons have lower fire rates but hit hard. While less relevant for characters with already fast-firing weapons, this tech is a strong complement for others and helps boost overall damage and attack speed.

    Recovery Protocol

If you’re using two or more damage-dealing auxiliary weapons—or even three with upgrades—this divine tech is essential. During tougher stages or late-game fights, maximizing healing becomes critical, and Recovery Protocol ensures you can sustain yourself longer. The legendary passive version has a low chance of appearing but has a significant impact when it does.

    Lightning Transforms

The last but not least, this tech puts your dash attack to excellent use. Not only will your dash inflict high damage, but it also reaches farther than usual. It’s great for both offense and defense, allowing you to escape dangerous situations more frequently—about once every few seconds.

These Divine Techs dramatically influence how well you perform in RIP. Prioritizing and upgrading them can change the course of your game experience significantly.

  • Top Anime Series That Are Better Than Their Manga and Great at Completing and Solving

Top Anime Series That Are Better Than Their Manga and Great at Completing and Solving

Animation adaptations of manga sometimes improve upon the original, adding depth and better execution. Series like Attack on Titan and Mob Psycho significantly enhanced their art styles, creating a more dynamic visual experience. Others, such as Nichijou and Demon Slayer, took strong stories and made them more emotionally impactful through animation.

Fans often debate whether manga or anime tells a story better. While manga is appreciated for its hand-drawn artistry, anime offers fast-paced motion and lively scenes that bring characters and action to life. Successful anime adaptations find a balance—staying true to the source while adding elements that elevate the story and visuals.

Some adaptations have strayed from their manga roots, sometimes harming the story. However, others have embraced the source material and improved upon it with high-quality animation and storytelling. These instances show that a well-made anime can sometimes surpass the manga in storytelling, visual appeal, and emotional impact.

    10. Bunny Drop
The anime chose to conclude before the manga’s controversial ending, focusing instead on the pure father-daughter relationship between Daikichi and Rin. It captures the warmth of caring for someone and resonates with viewers, ending on a satisfying note. Fans appreciated the decision to avoid the more troubling plotlines of the manga and celebrated its tender portrayal of family bonds.

    9. Initial D
This 90s street-racing classic introduces Takumi Fujiwara, a laid-back delivery boy turned top-level racer. The anime amazed viewers with its intense racing scenes on mountain roads, capturing the thrill of drifting and high-speed maneuvers. Its animation made viewers feel like they were right there in the driver’s seat—a stark contrast to the manga’s static images.

    8. Nichijou
This comedy-filled slice-of-life anime stands out because of its high-quality animation and sharp humor. It portrays the everyday lives of three childhood friends in Tokisadame, becoming hilariously absurd as their interactions escalate. Although faithful to the manga, the anime’s visual brilliance and comedic timing made it an unforgettable experience.

    7. Attack on Titan
Hajime Isayama’s series became legendary with its shocking plot twists. The early manga depicted basic drawings, but when WIT Studio took over in 2013, they transformed it into a stunning visual spectacle. The intense movement of the 3D maneuver gear, epic fights, and Levi’s battles far outshine the manga’s initial art quality, making the anime a must-watch.

    6. Gintama
Known for its comedy and memorable characters, Gintama benefits greatly from voice acting that brings its humor and personality to life. Even simple scenes can evoke laughter through excellent voice performances, making the series a favorite. Its wit and humor are amplified by the stellar voice cast, turning jokes into laugh-out-loud moments.

    5. Hunter x Hunter
Regarded as one of the best shōnen series, Hunter x Hunter has earned awards like the 2011 Anime of the Decade. The manga’s lengthy arcs, like Chimera Ant and Green Island, are epic, but the anime’s dynamic animation and distinct character designs elevate the story even further. Its visual execution set a bar for what anime can achieve, surpassing the manga in many ways.

    4. Demon Slayer
Since its debut in 2019, Demon Slayer captivated audiences with Ufotable’s stunning animation. The fight scenes are especially remarkable, turning Tanjiro’s revenge journey against Muzan Kibutsuji into a visual feast. While the manga laid the groundwork, the anime’s vibrant, choreographed sequences brought the story to new heights and gained worldwide popularity.

    3. Mob Psycho 100
Yoshihiro Togashi’s art was simple in the original manga, but the anime adaptation transformed it into a top-tier production. Its action scenes are among the best seen in anime, with fluid animation and impactful emotional moments. Mob’s character development is heightened, making him more relatable and believable, and the series delivers powerful emotional resonance.

    2. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
This widely beloved anime features iconic characters like Jotaro Kujo and Dio Brando. Its bizarre style, unique animation, and the innovative ‘Stands’ concept make it stand out from the manga. Although the manga has wit and humor, the anime’s improvements—such as dynamic fights and expressive animation—have turned it into a legendary series.

    1. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
This story about an immortal elf named Frieren watching her friends age is a near-perfect adaptation. The anime enhanced the manga’s quiet storytelling with rich visuals, detailed scenery, and choreographed fight scenes. These improvements resulted in a striking visual experience that surpasses the manga’s slower pace and offers a memorable viewing experience.

  • UN Predicts 70% Likelihood of Warming Exceeding 1.5°C by 2029

UN Predicts 70% Likelihood of Warming Exceeding 1.5°C by 2029

Climate Change Update from the UN

GENEVA: According to a recent United Nations report released on Wednesday, there is a 70% likelihood that global average temperatures will exceed the critical threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius between 2025 and 2029.

This forecast indicates that the world will likely experience historically high temperatures following the two hottest years ever recorded in 2023 and 2024. The report was put together by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), which is the UN’s weather and climate agency.

"We have just passed through the ten warmest years on record," stated Ko Barrett, the WMO’s deputy secretary-general. "Regrettably, this report shows no signs of relief in the foreseeable future, suggesting that our economies, daily lives, ecosystems, and the planet will increasingly suffer."

The Paris Agreement, established in 2015, aimed to limit global warming to significantly below 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels, with a more ambitious goal of 1.5°C if feasible. These benchmarks are determined based on the global temperature averages from 1850 to 1900, a period before widespread industrial dependence on coal, oil, and gas, which emit carbon dioxide (CO2) – the primary greenhouse gas responsible for climate change.

The goal of keeping warming within the 1.5°C limit is increasingly viewed as unattainable by a growing number of climate experts, given the ongoing rise in CO2 emissions.

    Five-Year Forecast

The latest projections by the WMO, developed in collaboration with the UK’s Met Office and other global centers, estimate that the average near-surface temperature for the years 2025 to 2029 will likely fall between 1.2°C and 1.9°C above the pre-industrial average. There is a 70% probability that the average temperature during this five-year stretch will surpass the 1.5°C mark.

"This aligns perfectly with our expectations of breaching the 1.5°C threshold on a long-term basis by the late 2020s or early 2030s," commented Peter Thorne, director of the Irish Climate Analysis and Research Units at Maynooth University. He added, "In the next two to three years, I expect this probability to rise to 100%."

Additionally, the WMO forecasts an 80% chance that at least one year between 2025 and 2029 will record temperatures higher than the current warmest year on record, which is 2024.

    Long-Term Predictions

To address natural climate fluctuations, the WMO employs several methodologies to evaluate long-term warming trends. One such approach considers data from the past decade alongside future projections, estimating that the 20-year average warming from 2015 to 2034 will be approximately 1.44°C. However, there is still no consensus on the best method for assessing long-term temperature changes.

The EU’s climate monitoring service Copernicus estimates current warming at around 1.39°C, with projections indicating that the temperature could reach the 1.5°C mark by mid-2029 or even sooner.

    The 2°C Threshold

While currently assessed as "extremely unlikely" at just a 1% chance, there is now a measurable possibility of at least one year in the next five exceeding 2°C of warming. "This marks the first time our models have predicted such an event," noted Adam Scaife from the Met Office. He expressed alarm at the implications and warned that this probability is likely to increase.

Recalling predictions from a decade ago, he stated that forecasts initially suggested a very low chance of any year surpassing the 1.5°C benchmark, which has already occurred in 2024.

    Implications of Warming

Every increment of additional warming will exacerbate phenomena such as heatwaves, heavy rainfall, droughts, and the melting of polar ice, glaciers, and sea ice. This year’s climate patterns offer no reprieve: last week, parts of China experienced temperatures above 40°C (104°F), regions in the United Arab Emirates neared 52°C (126°F), and Pakistan was struck by deadly winds stemming from an intense heatwave.

"We’ve already reached a perilous level of warming," stated climatologist Friederike Otto from Imperial College London, highlighting recent devastating floods in multiple countries and wildfires in Canada. "Continuing to rely on fossil fuels in 2025 is sheer madness."

    Additional Concerns

The WMO also anticipates that Arctic regions will continue to warm at a rate faster than the global average over the next five years. Predictions for sea ice in March from 2025 to 2029 suggest continued decreases in the Barents Sea, Bering Sea, and Sea of Okhotsk. Furthermore, projections indicate that South Asia will see above-average rainfall over the coming five years, while regions like the Sahel, northern Europe, Alaska, and northern Siberia will experience wetter conditions, and the Amazon is expected to be drier than usual.

    • Islam’s attorney, Shishir Monir, expresses that Islam is “fortunate.”
    • Five other leaders convicted during Hasina’s administration have been executed.
    • Islam received justice because he is alive, Monir states.

On Tuesday, Bangladesh’s highest court cleared a pivotal leader of the nation’s primary right-wing party, who had been facing the death penalty since a conviction handed down under the regime that was ousted last year.

A.T.M. Azharul Islam, a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, had been in detention since 2012 but was exonerated of crimes against humanity by the Supreme Court, which ordered his release.

Born in 1952, Islam was one of six top political figures convicted during the rule of Sheikh Hasina, whose lengthy 15-year regime as prime minister ended in August 2024 following a student-led uprising that forced her to flee.

Political groups, including Jamaat-e-Islami, are preparing for highly anticipated elections that the interim government has promised will occur by June 2026 at the latest.

Islam’s lawyer, Shishir Monir, remarked that he was “fortunate,” especially since five other senior political leaders—four from Jamaat-e-Islami and one from the main opposition party, the Bangladesh National Party (BNP)—had already been executed.

“He received justice because he is still alive,” Monir told reporters. “The appellate court did not adequately review the evidence in other similar cases involving crimes against humanity.”

Islam had been sentenced to death in 2014 for allegations of rape, murder, and genocide that occurred during Bangladesh’s independence conflict with Pakistan in 1971.

    ‘Seek Your Forgiveness’

Jamaat-e-Islami was the political adversary of Hasina’s father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who became the founding leader of Bangladesh.

During her tenure, Hasina prohibited Jamaat-e-Islami and took strong action against its leaders.

Islam submitted an appeal in 2015, but the court upheld the ruling in 2019, leading him to file a petition for a review in 2020.

After fleeing to India last year as protestors stormed her residence, Hasina now lives in self-imposed exile, with her Awami League party no longer allowed to operate.

She has defied a request from Dhaka to return and face charges of crimes against humanity linked to a crackdown that resulted in the deaths of at least 1,400 protesters during her unsuccessful bid to maintain power.

With Hasina gone, Islam submitted another appeal on February 27. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, cleared him of all charges.

Supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami expressed their joy. Leader Shafiqur Rahman highlighted that the party remembers those who were executed.

“They were victims of judicial killings,” he asserted. “Had they been alive today, they could have steered the nation in the right direction. Their contributions will be remembered by the people.”

Amidst the political turmoil, opponents of Jamaat-e-Islami have questioned its historical role. Rahman stated, “We, whether as individuals or a party, are not above making mistakes,” without elaborating further and declined to answer questions.

“We seek your forgiveness if we have committed any wrongs.”

    • Islam’s attorney, Shishir Monir, describes him as “fortunate.”
    • Five other leaders sentenced during Hasina’s administration have been executed.
    • "He received justice because he is alive," remarks the lawyer.

On Tuesday, Bangladesh’s Supreme Court overturned the conviction of A.T.M. Azharul Islam, a prominent figure in the country’s primary right-wing political faction, Jamaat-e-Islami. He had been on death row due to a conviction rendered under the previous regime, which fell from power last year.

Islam, who has been incarcerated since 2012, was exonerated of charges related to crimes against humanity by the Supreme Court, resulting in his immediate release.

Born in 1952, Islam was one of six senior political figures found guilty during the tenure of Sheikh Hasina, whose 15-year rule as prime minister came to an abrupt end in August 2024 following a revolt led by students.

As political parties gear up for eagerly awaited elections, the interim government has committed to holding them by June 2026 at the latest.

Islam’s lawyer, Shishir Monir, stated that Islam was "fortunate" because the five other senior leaders convicted—four from Jamaat-e-Islami and one from the Bangladesh National Party (BNP)—have already been executed.

"He received justice because he is still alive," Monir told the press, adding that the appellate division had not adequately reviewed evidence in the other cases involving crimes against humanity.

Islam was sentenced to death in 2014 for charges of rape, murder, and genocide during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.

    A Historic Rivalry

Jamaat-e-Islami was a political rival of Hasina’s father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is recognized as the founding leader of Bangladesh. During her administration, Hasina banned the Jamaat-e-Islami party and heavily persecuted its leaders.

Islam had filed an appeal in 2015, but the court upheld the initial verdict in 2019. He submitted another petition for review in 2020. After fleeing to India last year amidst mass protests that stormed her palace, Hasina remains in self-imposed exile, with her Awami League party now banned.

Despite a request from Dhaka for Hasina’s extradition to face charges of crimes against humanity for a crackdown that resulted in the deaths of at least 1,400 protesters, she has resisted returning.

With Hasina out of the picture, Islam’s legal team submitted another appeal on February 27, which led to Tuesday’s ruling by the full bench, headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed.

The supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami were jubilant. Leader Shafiqur Rahman remarked that the party would also remember those who were executed, describing them as victims of judicial killings.

"If they were alive today, they could have steered the country in the right direction. Their contributions to the nation will never be forgotten," he asserted.

As political factions vie for control, opponents of Jamaat-e-Islami continue to scrutinize its historical involvement. Rahman, addressing potential mistakes, stated, "We, as individuals and as a party, can err," although he did not elaborate and declined to answer further questions. "We seek your pardon if we have done anything wrong."

North Korea Arrests Leading Engineers Over Warship Launch Mishap

A symbolic representation of a man in handcuffs standing behind bars.

SEOUL: Several senior engineers in North Korea have been detained following a disastrous launch of a new warship, as reported by state media on Sunday.

The incident involving the 5,000-ton vessel transpired in front of leader Kim Jong Un, tarnishing the nation’s reputation. Kim has vowed to impose severe penalties on those at fault.

The mishap likely occurred before a large audience at the northeastern port of Chongjin, exacerbating the public embarrassment for Kim, who aims to showcase military strength, according to experts.

As the investigation deepens, authorities have arrested the chief engineer of the Chongjin Shipyard and others, as stated by the KCNA news agency.

Satellite images reveal the warship, covered in blue tarps, lying on its side, with its stern jutting into the harbor while the bow remains on the slipway, according to the U.S.-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Kim has directed that the vessel be repaired before a ruling party meeting slated for June, and KCNA confirmed that restoration efforts are underway.

In response to the growing U.S. military presence in the region, North Korea’s armed forces have pledged to effectively counteract and manage all types of military threats from adversarial countries, as reported in a separate KCNA dispatch citing a policy chief from the defense ministry.

  • Google Tensor Heating Issues Lead Pixel Phone Returns

Google Tensor Heating Issues Lead Pixel Phone Returns

Google’s Pixel phones have been a peculiar blend of excitement and exasperation in recent years. They boast remarkable camera quality and a streamlined software experience, but consumers have frequently reported issues with overheating and performance lags.

It’s evident that Google is cognizant of these drawbacks, particularly the fact that many customers return their Pixel devices due to problematic heat generation. High temperatures can significantly hinder the user experience, especially during demanding tasks.

Internal documents obtained by Android Authority reveal that 28% of negative customer feedback centers around overheating and associated complications. The Pixel team recognizes that the thermal thresholds of these devices tend to be higher than those of competing smartphones.

Battery life is another frequently mentioned source of consumer disappointment. A chip that struggles with performance and thermal management can negatively impact battery efficiency.

Overheating issues reported by Pixel users
    Reddit / Digital Trends

From my personal experience with Google’s smartphones, particularly those equipped with the custom Tensor processors, overheating has been a consistent issue. Coupled with the disappointing battery life observed in the Pixel 8 series, it prompted me to seek alternatives.

Google has based its Tensor chips on Samsung’s Exynos processors, which has resulted in some of the same performance challenges appearing in Pixel devices.

When it comes to performance, thermal throttling is always a concern. In my recent evaluations, I found that the frame rates for Tensor processors often fell short compared to Qualcomm and Apple A-series chips. Furthermore, aggressive throttling frequently diminished peak performance significantly.

While testing games like Diablo Immortal, I noticed that the phone’s temperature often exceeded 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

A significant reason why Google’s Pixel phones have historically struggled with heat management is the lack of effective cooling technology. Unlike competitors that have implemented advanced solutions such as multi-layer heat dissipation and larger vapor chambers, Pixel phones have not made substantial improvements in this area.

As a result, users often experience elevated temperatures, even during regular activities, leading to numerous accounts on Reddit and product forums from Pixel customers returning their phones due to overheating problems.

On a brighter note, Google is reportedly moving away from relying on Samsung’s silicon division and is expected to adopt a strategy similar to that of Apple and Qualcomm. The aim is to collaborate with TSMC on superior process nodes, granting Google greater control over the design of future Tensor processors.
