The Funeral offers a broad array of customization choices, including more than 14 distinct activities. Players can decide the location and timing of the event as well.

Thanks to the variety of Funeral events, each occasion will be distinctive. You can even dictate a Dress Code and specify what color guests should wear. Afterlife Anonymous

This festival offers Sims a chance to find solace for their recent hardships. Whether they have faced a loss or have newly transitioned into the afterlife, they can receive support from fellow Sims. Participants can share their experiences and the reasons that led them to this support group.

Both living and ghostly Sims often join these meetings, which also provide light refreshments. To reach the venue, head to Club Eternity and then travel to the Ruins.

    Crow’s Crossing Celebration of Life

This event is held near the Town Hall. Similar to the Funeral, it takes place three times a week at the park. It primarily attracts Sims who have recently experienced loss, allowing them to dedicate a moment to their loved ones.

Notably, if you are acquainted with a ghost, you can make a dedication as well. Sims can form friendships with ghosts, and you can perform any dedication for a deceased loved one in the game for those who have become your ghostly friends.

    The Moon Revelry

This festival occurs every night in a small gathering area located in Whispering Glen. Despite its limitations, there are still several activities available, including moonbathing, swimming at night, and dancing around a bonfire. Engage in these festivities and you may find interesting relationship dynamics developing.

  • Creating and Utilizing a Cemetery in The Sims 4: A Guide to Life & Death

Creating and Utilizing a Cemetery in The Sims 4: A Guide to Life & Death

    Quick Links

Cemeteries were introduced in The Sims 4: Life & Death. They serve an essential role when a Sim passes away, whether unexpectedly or through your own narrative choices. These lots aren’t just for the deceased; the living can visit them at any time. You can even designate them as club hangouts or celebrity spots from previous expansions. It’s crucial to maintain these cemeteries to keep them inviting, or else they may be forgotten over time.

Typically, cemetery lots host funeral services in The Sims 4. You’ll need the basic essentials for celebrating a Sim’s life and providing a proper burial. The game includes one pre-made cemetery, Eternal Hollow, in The Sims 4: Life & Death, but it may not fit all your needs. Past expansions like The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs and The Sims 4: Snowy Escape also feature graveyard-like areas, although they don’t function exactly like a cemetery lot.

How to Create a Cemetery Lot

    Going Beyond Required Objects

You can establish cemeteries on any empty lot, even in worlds outside of Ravenwood. However, accessing vacation worlds like Batuu or Granite Falls might be more challenging. Ideally, use the largest lot size of 64 x 64, though such lots are rare and may require removing a pre-existing structure. Just be careful not to destroy any buildings with significant game functions, such as Copperdale High from TS4: High School Years.

A cemetery can be crafted in Build Mode within TS4. This can be accessed through either Manage Worlds or while in Live Mode. Simply select “cemetery” from the drop-down list located in the upper left corner. As a public lot, you won’t need to worry about spending any Simoleons.

At a minimum, a cemetery should have:

    • One headstone or urn
    • One bench
    • One trash can
    • One toilet

Adding more objects can enhance the cemetery’s appeal. The game suggests including gravesites, crypts, and caskets to create a more complete setting.

However, just having the basics might feel dull for attendees at funerals. Think about including items that help meet a Sim’s basic needs in TS4. This could involve adding a chess set for entertainment, hygiene facilities like a sink or shower, or beds and coffee makers for energy. If guests get hungry, vending machines or a fridge for quick recipes can be practical. For example, the cemetery I designed in Del Sol Valley featured celebrity-themed amenities, such as a video station and exotic water garden.

    Maintaining a Crowded Cemetery

As more Sims pass away, you might find yourself short on space in The Sims 4: Life & Death. Gravesites take up a significant amount of space, each occupying a full 4×4 grid. While you could create additional cemetery lots to accommodate more graves, this solution is limited.

Instead, consider building multi-level cemeteries. You can create upward structures and also make use of basement spaces. Each lot allows for up to three levels above ground and four below, resulting in a total of eight floors. To take full advantage of this, you might use cheat codes to stack multiple objects together.

    Switching to Urns

One effective way to save space is to convert headstones into urns. This transition typically occurs automatically if you bring an occupied headstone indoors. However, you’ll need to delete and replace empty headstones in Build Mode. Urns offer the benefit of being placed on surfaces such as desks or shelves. Build items from The Sims 4: Jungle Adventure are excellent for displaying collections, including the remains of deceased Sims.

Another strategy to combat overcrowding is to avoid keeping every dead Sim in a cemetery. Some families might wish to have their loved ones nearby, allowing for urns and headstones to be placed on their residential properties. Alternatively, you can take a darker approach in The Sims 4 by leaving a Sim where they died. This can serve as a cautionary reminder at risky locations, like pools where drowning has occurred or gardens infested with cowplants, and ultimately help you avoid creating an over-crowded cemetery in The Sims 4.

With these tips, you can create and maintain a striking cemetery lot in The Sims 4 that pays proper tribute to your Sims. Whether you’re following the basic layout or adding personal touches, your cemetery can become a meaningful space for both memory and strategy in the game.

  • Unlocking Death Flowers in The Sims 4: A How-To Guide

Unlocking Death Flowers in The Sims 4: A How-To Guide

The Sims 4 features a unique recipe that has recently gained attention with the launch of the Life and Death expansion. This special dish is Ambrosia, which can bring a deceased Sim back to life if a ghost consumes it. However, if a living Sim happens to eat Ambrosia before a ghost gets a chance, all it does is reset their age bar.

Due to its powers, gathering the necessary ingredients for Ambrosia can be quite challenging. However, having them ready can save you from unexpected tragedies in The Sims 4. Unlike many other recipes, you can’t simply buy the missing ingredients when you’re ready to cook; you need to collect them all in advance, including the elusive Death Flower.

    How to Buy Death Flowers

    Purchasing at Caster’s Alley

If you’re eager to get a fully-grown Death Flower quickly, you have two main options depending on which expansion packs you own. If you have the Realm of Magic expansion, acquiring Death Flowers is straightforward since they are available at the Potion Ingredient Shop located in Caster’s Alley in the magical realm. Here’s how to get there:

    1. Travel to Glimmerbrook.
    2. Enter the portal located on the western side of the neighborhood.
    3. Take the second portal labeled for Caster’s Alley.
    4. Talk to the ghost running the Potion Ingredient Shop.

Tip: The shop restocks its items every night at midnight, so check back daily for the chance to buy Death Flowers!

Another way to get Death Flowers is by opening Starter Flower Seed packets, which you can buy using your computer or in Build Mode. However, the odds of finding a Death Flower in these packs are low, and you’ll need to open them while in a graveyard to have a chance. Therefore, your best bet, if you can’t access Caster’s Alley, is to level up your Sim’s gardening skills and use grafting to create your own Death Flowers.

    How to Grow Death Flowers

The more straightforward method to acquire a Death Flower is to grow one. If you manage to get a Death Flower from a seed packet or Caster’s Alley, you can plant it and generate more flowers. However, note that these flowers are only in season during winter. If you don’t have a Death Flower to start with, you must reach Gardening Level 5 and use grafting techniques.

To create a Death Flower, you need to perform up to three grafts. First, obtain an orchid from a seed packet or graft a lily onto a snapdragon to create one. You can take a cutting from the lily and then graft it onto the snapdragon plant.

Next, you’ll require a pomegranate. Again, you can create her by taking a cutting from a cherry tree and grafting it onto an apple tree. Finally, take a cutting from the pomegranate and graft that onto the orchid.

Once you complete this labor-intensive process, you’ll have a Death Flower, which is arguably the most challenging ingredient for crafting Ambrosia. To finish, all you need is a Potion of Youth and an Angelfish, and you’ll be prepared to resurrect the deceased in The Sims 4!

  • The Sims 4: Journeys of Existence and Beyond

The Sims 4: Journeys of Existence and Beyond

One of the standout aspects of The Sims 4‘s latest Life & Death expansion is the Reaper career, which operates quite differently than standard jobs in the game. This unique role allows players to create spiritual guides, helping souls transition to the afterlife. However, pursuing this career involves various tasks, making it a multifaceted journey.

It’s important to clarify that a Sim who takes on the Reaper role does not become the Grim Reaper from The Sims 4. Instead, they assist the primary soul collector, stepping in as sidekick Reapers until they earn a promotion. The Reaper career is an active employment option, meaning you can either let a Sim handle it independently or accompany them as they navigate their tasks.

How to Enter the Reaper Career

    No Need for a Fatality

Becoming a Reaper is simpler than you might think—you just need to select the profession from the "Find a Job" menu alongside other career choices. There are no specific traits required, but it’s worth noting that Reapers are often in close proximity to death. Consequently, certain skill sets might make some Sims more adept for this role.

Sims characterized by the Macabre trait are particularly well-suited for the roles of Undertakers or Reapers within the Life & Death expansion of The Sims 4. Key skills that enhance a Sim’s potential for the Reaper job include:

    • Thanatology
    • Charisma
    • Fitness
    • Writing

Sims with ideal traits may find themselves approached by the Grim Reaper, who might invite them to consider this death-related career.

You can kick off your Reaper career as a "Grimtern" within the Netherworld Department of Death (NDD), which hires you for this position. During this time, you will learn about the daily responsibilities of a Reaper, which may include tasks you’ve never encountered before.

Reaper Tasks and How to Handle Them

Locate Souls and Aid Their Transition

From the NDD headquarters, you’ll need to get accustomed to the soul-reaping process through assignments indicated by the Scry Bowl in the afterlife. This instrument will inform you of recently deceased individuals. Your role as a Reaper is to identify a target, successfully reap them, and then extract their soul to ensure it moves on.

Reapers don’t deal with rebirth, only the passing of Sims. A typical workday might involve tasks like:

    Sample Task How To Complete
Practice Reaping Interact with a mannequin at NDD HQ to practice soul collection.
Research Assignment Use an NDD bookshelf to learn about the deceased for easier soul extraction.
Perform Scythe Maintenance Check your scythe’s performance by clicking on your Reaper Sim.
Scry For Travel Click on the Scry Bowl to find a target for reaping.
Emotional Reaping Assess a tragic death and listen to other Sims’ pleas to decide a soul’s fate.
Submit A Death Certificate Record the soul’s disposal using a computer after delivering it to the Netherworld Portal.
Socialize With Co-Workers Engage with other NPC Sims at the NDD HQ.
Analyzing Death Trends Use a computer at NDD to forecast the next reaping opportunity.
Close Netherworld Fissure Capture escaped souls represented by blue orbs in the world to meet your Soul Quota.
Harvest Grimbrosia Find Grimbrosia plants and gather them using your scythe.

You may also encounter afterlife emergencies, from fixing the Scry Bowl to closing additional Netherworld Fissures. Occasionally, you might even need to recalibrate Grim’s Slablet, procure office supplies, or manage mischievous ghosts.

Most reaping tasks will involve interacting with either an urn housing the deceased or the body of a passed Sim.

The crucial part of a Reaper’s duty is to accumulate enough souls to satisfy your Soul Quota within a designated timeframe. Like all careers in The Sims 4, achieving specific goals is essential, even for the unconventional Reapers. If you meet your Soul Quota—easily checked from any NDD computer—you may receive rewards from the Grim Reaper’s Box-o-Fun(eral).

    Boosting Your Afterlife Earnings

The Reaper career has ten promotion levels, and a Sim is only officially recognized as a Reaper upon achieving the final promotion. Each position within the NDD has unique work hours and pay, influencing how you navigate the career as you progress. You’ll need to fulfill various requirements for promotions, with some levels taking longer to achieve than others.

Certain jobs offer alternate career paths, but the Reaper career has a singular route that must be followed.

Here are the promotion levels for the Reaper career in The Sims 4, complete with work hours and respective salaries:

Reaper Level Promotion Requirements Hours Pay
    1 – Grimtern N/A (M T W T F) 9am-5pm $25/hr
    2 – Restceptionist Thanatology Skill Level 2 (M T W T F) 9am-5pm $31/hr
    3 – Dust-to-Dust Buster Thanatology Skill Level 3, Release 3 Souls (M T W T F) 10am-6pm $39/hr

    5 – Soul Slayer Thanatology Skill Level 4, Release 4 Souls (T W T F Sat) 2pm-10pm $77/hr
    6 – Spirit Expert Charisma Skill 4, Write Reaping Manual (Sun M T T F) 11am-7pm $110/hr
    7 – Nether-Tether Thanatology Skill Level 5 (Sun W T F Sat) 5pm-1am $158/hr
    8 – D.N.R. Fitness Skill Level 4, Charisma Skill Level 5 (Sun T W T Sat) 2pm-10pm $223/hr
    9 – Graveling Release 10 Souls (Sun M W T F) 10am-5pm $299/hr
    10 – Reaper Complete Daily Tasks Until Promoted (M W F S) 9am-4pm $421/hr

    Reaper Career Rewards

Ensure you hit your quota to maximize your rewards.

Rewards associated with the Reaper career revolve around achieving a Soul Quota of 25 souls weekly. Successfully meeting this target, either solo or with the help of fellow Reapers at NDD, earns you extra incentives. In contrast, failing to meet your quota can negatively affect your Sim’s performance and block rewards for that week.

The Grim Reaper sets the weekly quota, and if you struggle to achieve it, keep an eye out for Lost Souls in your jobs, available for purchase from the Mysterious Merchant NPC.

You can be rewarded for your performance, getting assigned to bronze, silver, or gold tiers, much like other occupations in The Sims 4. Promotions yield appealing cosmetics as well. These include:

    • Dust-to-Dust Buster: Basic Reaper Uniform
    • Death’s Negotiation Reporter (D.N.R.): Timeless Hourglass (Household Inventory)
    • Reaper: Grand Reaper Uniform, Grim’s Right Hand Reward Trait

If you stay focused, you’ll consistently meet your quota, gaining plenty of rewards from your Sim’s endeavors. While the Reaper career in The Sims 4 may be demanding, the benefits from this soul-draining job in the Life & Death expansion certainly justify the effort.

The financial compensation is substantial, reflecting the importance of this role during life’s most challenging moments.
